[Q] Got some question - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Suppose im already in a custom rom and I want to test another rom(same kernel), And in the rom installation guide it says to flash stock fw.587. Can i just restore nandroid backup that I took earlier of my stock fw and install the rom??
Or do I need to always flash stock fw using flastool when changing rom???

if you use same custom rom i.e based on ics .... you can restore the stock rom based on ics with the same kernel i.e ics kernel
if you use jb kernel & jb rom than you have to flash ics kernel to restore ics stock rom

You need to use flashtool to root and unlock your bootloader.. once you archived that then you can install the ROM you want..
Flashtool can be downloaded from this link..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10738287
ICS ROM link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29001043
You need to find and flash FXP132 kernel for the above ROM to work... also make sure your baseband is .71.... good luck

Flash compatible kernel or kernel provided with the rom, boot into recovery, do full wipe and flash rom.

Just flash the compatible jb kernel and do all the necessary wipes and then flash the rom. That's it.
And for the 2nd question try some yourself. Everybody has their own personal choice.

That step is only necessary for the people with locked bootloaders.

feralab doesn"t require a certain recovery(xrecovery or cwm) and work with both bootloader, what are the only issues you'll ever have with a custom rom so no you can just install feralab rom v28 harmony over your old custom rom

[Q] backup current kernel on Neo V

Dear all,
I would like to backup the kernel currently installed on this Neo V. I don't see such an option in Flashtool, therefore I'm asking for you help!
The scenario is quite simple: I'm running a stock ICS with root and custom kernel, and I would like to backup everything (kernel + clockworkmod backup), install "Super Jelly Bean rom", and -just in case- be able to roll back to the current system.
Thanks in advance!

U cant backup and restore a kernel..
its not ROM to do like that..
the only way to change kernel is through flashtool and some kernel flashers via computer..

There is no use even if u export it to .img.. Because it will the same kernel that you have flashed..
seee.. u cant flash a kernel through Neo V.. it needs a pc/laptop to do that..
but in many of samsung galaxy series phones u can flash kernel.through phone and no need of pc for that.. but that privilege is not there for our xperia devices..
hope you got it now.

Thanks.
Anyway, I don't have any problem in using a PC to backup the kernel. And use it to restore it, too.

While you use a ROM no changes are made in kernel. All changes you do is in your system. So no need to backup a kernel as it will be the same. As much as you recovery is concerned, it is included in the ramdisk of a kernel so re flashing the kernel will have recovery. But just in case you did some changes to kernel, just unpack the ramdisk and edit it accordingly, repack and done! You'll have the required kernel. Flash it anytime you want
Cheers,
AJ
