T-Mobile LTE speeds are slower than AT&T, but IMO good enough for regular use.

I'm using an unlocked AT&T one x+ on T-Mobile, currently on the viper xl Rom. I have lte enabled but I've never really gotten lte speeds like I do on my unlocked AT&T note 2. Every time I do a speed test, it either says cell, or umts, or hspa, or hsdpa. Never does it say lte. Moreover, the icon on the status bar never says 4g lte, just 4g. On top of that, I frequently get the "disconnected because the radio was turned off" error also. BTW I'm in a 1900 refarmed and lte enabled area.

Unlock HTC One X+ for Mobile
Hey guys,
Slightly off topic but I just bought a HTC One X+ to use on tmobile but I'm not sure how to unlock it so it works on Tmobile. I've tried calling Att multiple times for the unlock code but they keep telling me it will be eligible to be unlocked on May 16th. Have you guys experienced this? If so, how did you get around it? Did you buy an unlock code off a website or is there a software unlock? I've tried googling and searching the forums but I didn't seem to come up with anything.
When I do get it unlocked, I'll share my speeds from NYC. Thanks!

Band 4 for LTE = AWS. So, the hardware is there. Its just that it is "programmed" to be used strictly for LTE, and not 3G. I was wondering if there is a way to "reprogram" it via a radio flash or something, just like in the case of the Galaxy Note 2, the Skyrocket, etc...

Hey guys,
Were any of you able to get the wifi hotspot funnction to work? I've tried both the Elegencia and Viper roms for the AT&T One X+ on Tmobile, and they don't seem to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

poor speed here..
2-6 Mbps Miami, FL
About 2-5 in Socal , have never seen it go past my Captivate (HSDPA) yet.
This would probably be a lot more exciting to people on the TSGS2 forum. I can't imagine anyone on AT&T buying a T-Mobile phone just to gain access to AWS which doesn't even exist in Europe or Asia. Besides, the Skyrocket is the same phone but LTE and will pull 15-18MB down so if AT&T'rs wanted a bigger screen they'd get that. It's good that it works on AT&T for you T-Mobile'rs so it's not a door stop after the merger.
I don't have screen shot sorry. But LA, California I have a bug that does not let me test. -__- i will edit later when it works
No the thing is on the original gs2 I get 1- 1.2 mbps and on T-Mobile gs2 I get 6-10 mbps on At&t. That's why I wanted to know what kind of speeds At&t gs2 owners are getting that's all. I'm not suggesting anyone to go get the T mobile version.

Why is that? What makes the T-Mobile version better for data on the same network?

It's not. The TSGS2 can get a theoretical 42MB down on T-Mobile using AWS so it's definately going to be faster there. Part of the reason isn't just the phone, T-Mobile's using dual-cell HSPA (link below). On AT&T's bands, it's 21MB down just like the ISGS2 and ASGS2 and AT&T's network's not dual-cell. If he's getting different results it's either because of APN settings being off, incorrect account provisioning, or AT&T's network just being randomly flaky. If OP was getting 1MB down with an ISGS2 something was horribly wrong. I get 3-4MB down in 3G cities and have gotten 10MB down on occasion when traveling in TX but routinely get 6-8MB down in fake-4G cities.

I just did the exact same. I came from the HTC Evo and switched to the HTC Amaze.
sprint's data was worthless....
I racked up a ton of roaming charges to get out of my Sprint contract ETF free because the data was beyond useless, like 25-50 kbps, T-Mo gives me anywhere from 7000 to 14000 kbps. I can watch Youtube videos again! I will take 5gb plus throttling over never being able to hit 1GB if I tried.
I use a Sprint PCS data card for work.
This is why I got a tethering plan with my phone.

I wish that was the case for me. My services were good with Sprint but they started charging me for stuff that didn't make any sense and the stores started to tell me to call *2 for everything. After I switched to T-mo I found out that they are kinda skipping 3G and going from 2 to 4. Which is better anyways.
I tried out sprint for 3 days and the data was so slow. At home I'd get 1-2mbps while on Tmo I'd get 5-8mbps. And i checked i was in "perfect" coverage too. Call quality was worse. Text messages came out or order. Their plans are good on cheap but the network sucked for me.

1-2 mbps is around the most you'll get on sprint 3G because the technology is limited to 3.1 mbps down.
I used to be impressed with data speeds but in real life situations how is 5-6 mb better than 1-2. i stream you tube and Pandora just fine on 1mb. even when i tether my tablet it browses just fine so please let me know how speeds up to 10mb really make a difference. I just picked up the amaze for the second time today and my house only has a 2g signal and its too slow to even use the market. at least i can download apps on my sprint evo without having to turn on wifi
If people got 1Mbps on Sprint regularly there wouldn't be such a huge problem.
100-300Kbps is too common on Sprint. Not only that but in areas where EV-DO is so crowded you get 1x switching.
I love sprint i just wish 4G speeds were on speeds with LTE come on wimax

I would love to know why that is too. After the iPhone made its way to Verizon, I thought at&t would have been in a really tough spot.
I stick with att because I have multiple phones and love the ease of switching between them with just a Sim card (GSM) . Also I like having the option of using unlocked international phones that ATT does not offer.

AT&T is great when you're in an area that doesn't offer LTE. Their HSPA+ puts Verizons 3G to shame. Only reason I don't have T-Mobile is because I didn't get great reception at home. Swapping phones at will is nice as well.
I am using my note on tmobile and I'm getting great speeds on it. Throughout he day I usually get 6-10mbs download speeds. Sometimes I peak at 12mbs. The upload isn't great. I usually got 1-3mbs on my t989 but only around 100-500kb on the note. No biggie. Still fast for me. Only problem is it hangs occasionally and I have to toggle it on and off to get it working. I'm looking for a workaround for that.

I'm going to wait it out myself. I ended up ordering a straightalk att sim and contacted T-Mobile for a seasonal hold on my account. If the T-Mobile note is true or if someone finds a fix, ill just have to wait till that or gs3.

I enjoy ATT and the Note as well. Love is a strong word. These threads are humorous.

I wonder if they're using a new modem for 1700 band or if its just a new radio and if that will help the early note adapters.

What's straight talk best deal? I'm not on contract so I could leave whenever I just don't wanna change my number again and I'd have to wait like 3 weeks till my credit runs out

Too many people b!##h about AT&T. Yet theyre the second biggest carrier in the US. I for one love AT&T Ever since I switched from T-mo. No complains here.
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke
I was with att I don't like them I just like big screen phones and this phone is a beast that can't be used to its full on tmobile

Hey I was reading around and found this:
http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-one/#specs
Under network it shows this:
LTE:
EU: 800/1800/2600 MHz
US (AT&T): 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz
US (TMO): 700/AWS MHz
does that mean the AT&T 64GB version will work on T-mobiles LTE network?
Yup
It seems so. This is different but just a warning that someone purchasing the EU version reported signal issues on T-Mobile in USA.

EU: 800/1800/2600 MHz

The EU bands are not in line with the US bands. This is why the EU version cannot be used in the USA for T-Mobile. T-Mo is 700/1700(AWS Band 4) for LTE service.
A reminder to T-Mobile customers: this model will not support HSPA+ in most markets, but should work on its growing LTE network where offered.
HSPA/WCDMA: 850/1900/2100 MHz -
GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz -
LTE: 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz (US)

According to Mike1986, if i read his thread correctly, that the European, tmoble and ATT versions are the same. There are 3 versions. Sprint, North America/Europe, and Asia. He also said you can flash a custom rom meant for Europe/North America on to a GSM (Asia)model. This is great great news. Read the thread here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2223236

Edit: It's possible This may not be the case. there might be more versions than the 3 that mike listed, we wont know for sure until someone gets an ATT version and checks the MID

Once We have s-off and can correctly flash a radio and different ruu's you should be able to just flash a t mobile ruu when its out

No it's not. I'm happy AT&T gave me a great deal when I signed up for service as a new customer so I'm only paying $70 a month

Thats a really good deal. I'm thinking I should maybe stay. 100minutes is not a lot either, but for $30 a month unlim txt/data, I thought it would be a steal.

Does a radio change the bands?
I dont know.
You can get T-Mobile LTE if available in your area, but T-Mobile HSPA bands not covered with the ATT version.
Edit: Actually I just tested with tmob sim in my ATT phone and I did get HSPA. At my house I only get Edge, but driving about a mile up to the main drag, I recieved 4G HSPA first at about 6MB then I got LTE 25-30MB.
Difference in units(I have one of each)
MID very close, but not exact.
I work for T-Mobile in Washington for corporate. I have the ATT version and I can tell you that the ATT version works perfectly on T-Mobiles LTE network. I don't understand why everyone seems to make a big deal on this HSPA deal though because from what I have seen is that if you are in an HSPA capable area then most likely you have LTE. I suggest the .24 radio btw.

Not all HSPA+ areas have been refarmed, leaving some stuck on EDGE...having the ability to use that band would be helpful to many.
Okay, I'm about to give up here.
Here is my question: Is it physically possible to get LTE on TMO using an UNLOCKED ATT HTC ONE?
I'm on the 30 gig plan and I can't seem to get LTE?
Could someone help please? Thanks!
