Helli friends, I am using titanium backup 6.0 2. I had create backup of all users apps but after I restore it after flashing new rom I noticed that it missed data folders of my big games like modern combat 4, gta vice city, ravensword. Games apps was asking me to re download data again which I bought from play store. I searched about this but found no solution. Had I made any mistake?
Sorry for my bad english.

Its normal, I guess titanium does not backup the data from the sd's games folder. Happens to me to, anyway you will be able to restore your safe games without problem.

You need t to copy the folder with games data file (the downloaded one) not sure if it is in that fleet you mentioned but you can try.

every game has a different folder, and titanium is not supposed to back it up
But it should do bcoz it is difficult to backup separately data files of games agaun and again for flashing new roms

This is one of the things you will have to get used to when flashing roms. As Games keep their info all over the place and with each update the place it gets stored is not always the same. So no it is not supposed back those up.
The titanium backs up, but it just makes it interesting to know how and other parts, as can happen when the program or game update specify that part will not change. Sorry if my english sucks.
I tried too many times but answer is no. It only backup apk file of game not data and it is difficult to re download 1.5 to 2gb data again.i think clockwork recovery can do it but not sure. I will try it and if I get success I will post here.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
no, recovery doesn't backup sdcard contents either
Ok it means there is only a way that we should copy data folder from /sdcard/android. But it is strange that when we uninstall the game it removes the data folder( even it is 1.5 gb) with apk. I hope titanium dev add this feature in next update.

they won't
I use directory bind to put my games /android/data/game.name/... (NOT ALL /data/ I actually list the games themselves) /android/obb.... /gameloft... folders on the extsdcard from the internal memory's sdcard. I can then backup using Titanium Backup (calling it TT from now) the games' "app and data" then I do the following:
I can flash a new rom,
login to play store/google
restore Directory bind, and enable its binds
install app ONLY using TT
run app and let it check for d/l's (NONE)
in TT kill app, clear data then restore data.
This process works on all my "big" games asphalt 6/7 dark knight GTA:3 dead space etc etc
o and FYI TT already has the feature to backup the external data, but i think its disabled by default (or on a low setting) Its called "backup app external data" in preferances and also the one below sets the size. I have it backup external data if its less than 32mb. presumably you could set to to always and it'd do it, or you could setup a label for your "big" games and have it done like that. I will however say i have not used this feature for backing the games sdcard data, I use the first method.
Thanks for reply. I think it is amazing solution to backup big games data without hassle. I will try it. However I am using link 2 sd in s3 i9300. It works but not for big games data. I have a question that will directory bind work in galaxy s3 bcoz it has no support for move 2 sd.

Firstly Directory Bind (DB) isnt perfect. It can crash and cause the game to crash. However that said I completed maxpayne for example on my phone without a single crash. Second DB doesn't work on 4.2 ROMs apparently (not bothered to test that as im still on 4.1 for now)
Now the thing to remember is that, I HAVE MANUALLY COPIED THE GAME FILES FROM THE INTERNAL TO THE EXTERNAL! I let each app install onto the internal (months and months ago) then moved the files myself to the extsdcard as DB's copy feature is unreliable to say the least. Once the binds are setup, you never need to move anything again, as all NEW data will be sent to the extsdcard.
ALSO if you are using link to sd, doesn't that mean you internal sdcard is ALREADY directed to the extsdcard? so DB would be useless?
In Titanium Backup, Go to Preferences>Backup app External data (It's under Backup Settings) and set it to Enabled(Always)
In my case, this method saved everything needed from the Android/data folder but it did not save the Android/obb folder.
EA Real Racing 3. After backing up and restoring into a new ROM, the game worked flawlessly, my progress was saved and I didn't have to download everything inside the game again. App size was 1.34 GB. While the archive size was around 850MB in the TitaniumBackup folder. But it was probably compressed, and restored everything.
I think this just saves the Android/data folder, it did not save the Whatsapp Media. Thankfully, I had backed up the Whatsapp folder just in case, and i just pasted it back into the Internal SD Storage.
I had even formatted my InternalSD(it was getting too cluttered) while flashing the new ROM. On the previous ROM I was at around 1 GB free... and after the restore in the new ROM and copying of the folders back to Internal I had some 5 GB free. I obviously lost some data, probably from the Android/obb(My guess, around 1 GB game data), but the rest was probably junk that needed cleaning up anyways, since I was back to how it was in the previous ROM.
So, to summarize, while jumping from ROM to ROM doing Full Wipes(or even Format Internal SD), while making your backup you should backup all external data via Titanium, and then copy relevant folders outside the Android/data folder to your backup location and just paste them back after you've restored from Titanium.
Hope this helps.
Oh, by the way, don't be noob enough to not change the TitaniumBackup folder to your external before starting anything.
Titanium backup data take more space than other.

Mine are typically right at 1 GB (or right below it). I'm not sure what the point of the backup would be if you factory reset prior to lol. I'm not certain what would cause one to be that large.

That's why I question it, I have like 20 apps installed. I do have like 10 GO Launcher apps. I never did wipe cache and Davlik after installing Entropy kernel to get CWM. Is that safe to do now on a stock ROM with no boot issues?

I just want a safe back up on my SDcard if I ever have any problems after installing a custom ROM I don't care if it is with no apps easy to reinstall apps then reflashing Entropy Stock/Root and still having to install apps.....

Why do you need a Nandroid Backup?
Ans: you already provided the answer in your post ""I just want a safe back up on my SDcard if I ever have any problems ..."
It is for your own, you can do nb once for every hour or once a year, it's up to you.

Confused..... Please read my OP... That response was to Simba501 why I would "factory/reset" Then nandroid my first nandroid was 1.7gb just trying to figure out why it was so Big when most people's are 300mb to 1gb.
Bump.... Matt , Wink anyone else, can I clear cache/dalvik in CWM on my stock ROM with no problems? I'm trying to get my Nandroid under 1g? Something doesn't seem right it being 1.7gb?

Update: After looking in the CWM backup the file sizes are.
.android_secure.vfat.tar 885mb
data.ext4.tar 322mb
system.ext4.tar 462mb
Any ideas what I can do to get the Nandroid file size smaller?
You've got 800+ mb of apps and data installed on the internal SD. The .android_secure file is well, a backup of the entire .android_secure folder. When you go to Manage Apps and tell the phone to "move to SD card" (some apps just install there on their own) this is where they go.
My backups are about the same size as yours but I've got like 102 apps installed, and quite a few are 20+ mb games.

Mine generally run 1.2 gb. 150 apps installed.
My first backup was 730mb my latest backup is 1.58gb eel
Cwm finally put my backup on the external_SD instead of the internal USB sd

I did move some games to the SD card but then I factory reset I did tick "format USB storage" before I rooted it then flashed Entroys kernel. I only have like 20 apps installed now. So I guess there are apps stored in some old folder I have searched all over for the folder or folders can't find them anywhere..... Any help where to look?
That much data with that few apps suggest maybe you have some video or music files getting lumped in there. Hard to say for sure, but I agree 1.7 seems like way too much. Try installing TiBu and back up your apps, then take a look and see how big the backups are. This might provide some more granular clues. I highly suggest the TiBu pro batch feature... Save u a lot of time in general
I want to install a new jb rom based off xxlsj. But it says to wipe data and do factory reset. Now I have a couple of games on my current jb leak stock rom which I want to back up. These games are more than 500 mb each when I downloaded from play store. Thing is when I take their backup using titanium backup and check the backup folder size, it shows only about 20 mb in size. I already put a check on backup external data to "always". Please help. I don't want to lose progress and redo those games all over.

You should check that you create a backup of the app + app data in Titanium Backup.
Maybe the app data is missing in your case.
If you are not sure, maybe yu can test the TB restore of one app (+ app data) which is not so important if the restoring fails.
Good luck !

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think your game data is stored in another folder. In my case (with Modern Combat II) I have a folder 'Gameloft' on my internal sd, and when I do a full wipe, TB only back ups and restores the app itself (your 20mb in the TB-folder), and the game starts and uses the data from 'Gameloft'.
Don't know if you understand it but I believe you won't loose anything.

Thx for the input. My main concern is the data wipe and factory reset that the new room will be needing. I reckon the game data files are being stored somewhere in the internal memory and they will be erased if I proceed to flash the new rom. Why isn't TB backing up huge chunk of files. Doesn't make sense to me :what:

With a full wipe you won't delete any of your user data on your sd-card. It only deletes the rom itself. TB backs up the app itself, and things like username/password for the game so you won't have to put it in again. The game data (levels and all the progress you made) will still be stored in another file on your sd-card, so TB doesn't back up those files (as they won't be touched with the wipe). That's why it's only 20mb in this case.

This isn't a Galaxy SII question its a question specific to a Android app so has nothing to do with this forum.
This question should be asked in Android forum or even email to app dev.
[edit] Moved by mod.
Consider installing again the apps once you format, and then restore the savegames with Titanium Backup.
Before formatting, would be a good idea to do a Clockworkmod backup.
Although needs confirmation, I believe some savegames may be encrypted and be suitable only for the device.

I wish to update android. Can I do this safely if I just (un)rooted my device? Whatever the terminology is. (i just did it so I have superuser etc. im a complete mobile phone noob)
What is the most easy way to make an complete backup of the entire phone?
As in apps- settings-internal firmware etc. I wish to make a complete backup.
What would be the easiest way to aquire apps?
I found 4shared and blackmart but they are not as good as the playstore, as in searching, for with this you need to know already what you are searching.
Well you can use playstore and then search in 4shared. But I was thinking maybe there is a more complete solution.
Also I noticed in some of these apps, certain apps don't seem to be present.
So what is the most complete solution to apps? Prefered if they have like short describ, popularity, pictures.
Thanks in advance.

Eh, of course you can update... The method depends on what you're going to flash.
You can use Titanium Back up. Settings of your phone will be erased.
Well, just use the Play Store.
Well first of all, the playstore, only shows up to 500 downloads, and there all scramlbed, as in the 10. mil downloads apps are scrambled inbetween the 100.000 one's etc. Meaning I miss probably alot of popular downloads. Also playstore.. you need to PAY. I want a free-complete solution with the biggest library.
Titanium backup.. backups what? I want a total backup of everything.. does that do that?
Settings erased?? -.-
Ofcourse I can update, where? flash what? I see that my phone can update itself in settings, through official means is this android update?
Sorry im a total noob. I almosted messed up rooting too.

Well the play store is the largest source of Android apps and the next I guess would be the Amazon play store, and what do you mean "you need to pay"? Of course for paid apps, you will need to pay(amazon does give out free paid apps everyday though) but you can have a free version which will contain ads for most good apps.
For total backup you will have to do a nandroid backup by going into CWM(read other threads), you can also use an app called Nandroid Backup to do it for you without the need of going into CWM for restoring the backup you will have to always go into CWM though.
Edit : OTA updates can easily be done via settings and yes it will update your android.
Other faster method is flashing the firmware through a computer.

Hello mates..
This is a developer's forum and discussing sources such as "blackmart" or "4shared" is not a good idea.
If u need an app that needs payment, pay for it..
As your payment is the only thing thr developers gets.
So I strongly suggest that you stop using blackmart or whatever source u use for cracked apk's.
Just use playstore as it is a trusted and tested source for apps.

I didn't discuss using any of those, I focused on Amazon app store which is completely legal and they do give out free paid apps daily(which is also legal), and for your information 4shared is not an illegal source for download it's just being misused like that, it's actually a file sharing website where you can share your photos, documents, and other personal or open source stuff.
But Blackmart is just like the name it is a black market of android apps.

Yeah lol I understand.. I think you mean clockwork mod and there are further options too which you obviously didn't use, but let's get to you 2.6gb backup it contains your complete firmware, settings , and all the apps you have ever installed to the point, data in your internal and external memory cards should be completely copied to a computer or external hdd, ie you should manually backup that, restoration can be done via booting into CWM(for more info on CWM read other threads it will take too long to explain).

And well it may have saved the apps, but not the music because that alone is 4GB. so why doesnt it literally take everything?

Yes you can access cwm directly by switching your phone off, holding power button + home button +volume up button it will boot directly into CWM.
Backing up all the memory will possibly create a huge file and it ain't that practical but you can do it if you want, but normal backups won't touch any of your data (sdcard as well as ext sdcard) when restoring unless you manually perform a wipe.
You can copy your backup anywhere but you will have to copy it back to restore.

Ok im into CWM, I pressed backup but it doesn't backup everything in a huge file? I dont really care for practical when I got a 3 TB harddrive so it's not possible to include sd data? I also moved all apps to sd card, aswell as mp3's..
And Im trying to backup the phone through windows explorer.. but it seems I can't acces all files there? Because when I count the maps and filesizes, it seems like it doesn't add up, and something is hidden from me.
Also when I make backup it NEVER asks me where to store it, wether I do with CWM or with this other program I forgot name off. Through wifi directly on external hDD would be great.

Lol, you may not consider practical backup, but developers do, a normal nandroid backup is meant to hold all important rom data and and user apps data. Backup of Personal Data is always set to be done separately but you can do it with CWM by using a modified backup script and for restore you will have to use another modified restore script, quite a pain in the ass if I must say and too risky for a novice like you because if you mess up the script you can damage your nand thereby bricking your phone, All your data on both memory will be completely visible to you via windows especially if you are connecting via USB mode, In CWM you have the choice to backup into the sdcard or ext sdcard , it will be stored either in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup or /extsdcard/clockworkmod/backup, in the Online Nandroid backup app you can specify the download location with a manually defined directory structure.

Ok thank you. Well How come then the sizes dont addd up when I press ctrl + a on internal memory or SD card. And then compare free space/total size with the size of all the stuff I selected.. Seems some stuff is hidden 0_0
So are you saying you could also backup through windows explorer by just copying ALL stuff unto external HDD, and make a Nandroid backup would that be "complete'?

Pretty much, nandroid backup + backed up so data is usually pretty much complete.
Edit :There are some minor things, but that would only confuse you further, you don't need to worry about it though.

Apologies if this is the wrong thread:
I have a galaxy tab 2 7.0 which ive rooted and have the script that sets external sd card as internal memory and vice versa. Its running android 4.0.4 and Whats happening is my games are completely dissapearing and upon opening either one of them, it has to redownload all the game data. Its doing it all the time and its come to the point were im going to flatten it and install a custom rom.
What i need to know is where the directory is for save game files so i can back them up. If i use titanium backup, upon restore non of my games work so that option is out of the window. So the plan is
1, Back up the game save directories,
2, wipe it,
3,install a new os,
4. restore the save game files
5, redownload the games.
If this doesnt resolve the issue im thinking perhaps its the SD card.
I know in the microsoft world save game files are normally in your profiles Application data directory or the my documents folder. Does android have a similar set up?
Also, can you recommend a stable and clean rom for this device. Needs to have init.d support so android 4.1.2.
Would really appreciate any help anyone can provide
The most interesting files are under data/data/ and android/data or android/obb.
I can recommend you Cyanogenmod, just google it

Hey all, I'll break into the thread xP
So simply ANY nandroid backup I count on does not seem to satisfy me
I've been fooled by my device like 3 or 4 times and lost a lot of pretty customizations that were on it
My problem is that I can't seem to take a working backup.. I always have the MD5 checksum error and stuff
I tried 2 kernels so far and the last one was Apollo which I BELIEVE is tested and is working for a lot of users.
Could it be because I move the backup to my PC until needed?? Should it be on the SD card all the time? :/
Try backup to internal sd card. There may be a problem wth your sd card?

I backed up to internal in the first place
Hmm.. Try philz recovery if you are cwm, or vice versa then? Is there a problem when you are recording videos and such?
Edit: HD videos
I have had those aswell, i found a guide(workaround, whatever) on youtube. Just open your cwm backup folder and look for the nandroid.md5 file. Open it with an editor and delete all and leave it empty. This way it wont check the md5 sum and just restore. However if your backup is damaged it might not work or cause troubles. You can also use nandroid restore app from play to restore data and apps. Good luck.

The advice I was given at a very early stage in my android modifying was to zip the backup prior to moving it to a PC........ then when it was going to be used, move the zip back 'in phone' and use the phone to unzip it.....apparently this minimises the risk of corruption......
Whether this is true or not, I haven't investigated, but it *sounds* reasonable.......

I had the same problem, solution for me was to rename the entire backup, don't know why ....
But it's important that the new name doesn't has space or strange signs inside ...
You could use: mybackup
As example
