So how is battery life on custom roms stacking up to the stock battery life? I'm on rootbox and it feels like I get significantly less stand by time.
Sent from my Optimus G using xda app-developers app
I get significantly more on rootbox. Check your clock speed. Many people get it so its stuck at a minimum off 1024mhz or whatever. Use faux clock and turn off mpdecision . That will allow you to drop your minimum clock to a much lower setting.
I can't stress enough how well greenify from the market works. That and make sure you have fast dormancy disabled.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
Not convinced Greenify helps much, if at all. I had installed, but removed it a while back.
On Root box using the modded 192 kernel, uc to 1350.

using rooted Stock ATT JB gets me almost 5 hrs of Screen time in just under 18 hrs ... thats very impressive for me ... and even my battery drops to hardly 1-2% in standby if my data/wifi are off !!
I'm running the HouCha kernels and battery has been pretty good. I'm at 14hrs w/ 31% remaining.

I'm on rootbox and I don't seem to be getting the great battery life I was getting on stock with wake lock fixed.
Both time for having the screen on and standby seem worse. Can't say how much worse just yet as my use fluctuates daily.

Heavy use ( constant sync two Gmail accounts, wifi on 24/7, friendcaster, and Hotmail)
As for battery advice I keep my screen brightness to a minimum unless I am going outside.

Can't believe your screen is only at 33%
Huge sign of not using your phone
Guess you using the app to take your screen brightness down to 1 on top of that?
Alpha 2
Edit: first pic not showing for me=3 hr 10 min screen time. Also have over 2 hrs of music playing. Almost ss good as oc dagr8 oc to 1.8 GB. If could set min frequency to 192 think it would be the same

Yeah can you fix the first pic?
I can't get 19hours, but I can get 3hr screen time
Playing music is easy with screen off for lil drain
Getting 5 hour screen time on a note is definition of great battery life

saurom wins best battery in my books
i went on a craze testing different roms specifically for battery life. the best battery i got was using saurom gb rom. 1.5 days!! i would say i was aiming for light/moderate usage at the time.
i got decent usage on seraphim ics rom, more on the heavy usage side when i was testing this rom. little over 12hrs. i love it graphically and how smooth ics is, but since im on my phone alot saurom suited my power taste better.
to save as much battery as possible, my config:
- antutu battery saver app
- brightness always at a minimum
- vibrate always off, silent at office, sound only everywhere else
- screen filter app in the dark
- wifi off (test purposes, its a given u'll save more when on wifi)
- auto sync off (im always on it so refreshing apps i need on the fly was good enough, i dont always need to know who emails or facebooks me every sec)

SCREEN ON time people. IMO the most important stat you can post for these battery threads. Who cares if you phone lasts 17 days...but the screen was only on for 5 mins.
My best is just over 4 hours. Haven't quite gotten that again tho.

Agree. Screen time should be 90% determination. Here are mine. I'll be able to get to 4 hours screen time with Juice Defender and RootDim.

My battery life so far. WiFi on while at apartment since I have spotty connection. Used GPS for about 20 min and listened to Pandora for 1.75hrs. Brightness auto at 40%. Using fast dormancy .apk enabled.
I feel like this is pretty good batt life for moderate usage. Maybe this will give some sort of base to someone who feels they have a bad battery.
Ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Screen on time is there on one of the better battery stats pictures (last one and towards the end of the picture). It is at 2 hours 4 minutes at that percentage point.

Wait isn't fast dormancy suppose to be .apk disabled? Its enabled by default meaning your suppose to disable to actually disable fast dormancy.

This is all stock no mods whatsoever. Screen time is all web browsing. 40% brightness. Maybe an hour on 4g and the rest on WiFi. Bluetooth on but not connected. Don't know if this is normal. Wish it were better. If any of you guys are getting better let me know. I can still return for another.

That's normal, 6.5hrs of screen on time with wifi on and the phone being on for about 7.5hrs is good. If you are getting 3-5hrs throughout a day, I myself, consider that fine.
35 hrs and still @ 9%
I'm having no issues. I did a "conditioning" week and have been pleased so far. I'll admit its fairly light usage, but better than any other phone I've had.

Basically, as soon as I pulled it out of the box, I drain the battery until it turns itself off, then recharge from there. I do this cycle for at least a full week...drain to empty, charge to full.....I actually did it for about 10 days with this device. Essentially, I treat it like an old ni-cad battery for that first week.
There is absolutely NO science or expertise behind this. I know a lot of people say that lithium batteries don't require it and it doesn't affect it, but its something I do....and it definitely can't hurt.
Except only that it does hurt Li-on and Li-Po batteries
There is an article on battery University about this

My battery life has been awesome so far. I don't charge my phone at night so I like to go to sleep with it how it is. I consistently lose maybe 1% a night. Standby on my GS3 killed my battery.
Back to stock. Battery still amazing.

Good setup, surprised you got voltage that low without reboots. Use WiFi over data when you can it uses far less power.

15 hours at 1.0 ghz? Holy cow! You should change the minimum frequency to the lowest setting. You will get waaaay better battery life.

He's better off figuring out what app is keeping the phone awake so much. 14% deep sleep is horrible. Though. 21 plus hours up with that little deep sleep isn't too bad. Mpdecision turned on by any chance? That might explain the min cpu at 1ghz.

I'm assuming you are using 4.4 so battery apps like BBS do not work on 4.4 so it will be a little more difficult to isolate what drains your battery.
Post a sn of the OS battery stats and trickster showing deep sleep time.
Also did you lower you minimum frequency, or are you still running at 1ghz at idle?
