Cusom ROM - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hey guys, I'm sorry if I made a mistake making this topic here. In case I didn't, help me please.
In last couple of days I'm trying to find the best custom ROM for my X10 mini. The problem is that I CANNON unlock my bootloader so every ROM which requires it is out. I couldn't find anything really good, so If you know any please share it with me, thanks

This should be in the Q&A section, and what is really good really depends on what you want from your phone. Not sure if you couldn't find anything, or didn't like what you did find...

Well, as I said, I want the best one, faster, less bugs, etc... As there is GingerDx v31 for x8, it's pretty good

I still nee a help

No he doesn't, not for just a custom ROM anyway, and he already said he can't unlock his bootloader.
Start with this one, it's the last MiniCM7 by nAa which ran on stock kernel, based on Gingerbread 2.3.5.

Get this (ClockWorkMod) and put it on your sd-card
Put the ROM on your sd-card too
Get flashtool (It's in the first post in the x10mini dev section)
Install it
If you do NOT have Sony Update Service or PC Companion then:
Install flashtool-drivers from the drivers subfolder and choose E10i Xperia X10Mini
Press the Padlock button in flashtool, this will root your phone
Press the Swiss flag (Plus) button in flashtool, this will install xRecovery
Choose Tools - Reboot - Recovery - Reboot default recovery
On your phone: Choose 'Install zip from sd-card' - Choose custom zip
Select CWM-recovery-3.2.0.0-r3-x10mini-Amend.zip
Select yes
Reboot your phone and press the back-button repeatedly just before and when the sony ericsson logo appears.
Choose backup and restore - backup (This will back up your current system and data so you can get it back later should you want to)
Choose Install zip from sd-card - Choose custom zip
Select MiniCM7-2.0.7.zip
Select yes
Do: Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
In the advanced submenu: Wipe Dalvik-cache
Reboot the phone and enjoy your new ROM
(You will have lost all your user-data so maybe it's a good idea to back up at least your contact-list to sd-card, which can be done when you enter the contacts app and press the menu-button, it will create a file on your sd-card that you can import again later.)

Oh.. and I think you need to find Google Apps for Gingerbread too if you want the play-store, flash them the way you flash the ROM,

Okay, I'll do it tomorrow. Thank you a lot for your help.

There is actually a custom ROM that does not require a unlocked bootloader, it runs with stock kernel. It is called MiniCM7Pro by BPaul. Google it.

[How-To] Running FXP, FXP Miui & Miui Prime on Locked BL (xRecovery / Free Kernel)
Following my FXP Port, I'm expanding the idea so that more people can enjoy these excellent roms on locked bootloader as well.
I have tested the method to work fine on FXP046, Oodie Miui Prime 004 and FXP Miui 1.4. It should work on subsequent builds unless there are major changes by the rom developer. It may work on other roms that are FXP based (but I have not tested)
Credits:
1. Z & J, Doomlord & azuzu - for too many things to mention
2. FXP, Oodie, Crowds - for the excellent roms
3. Tkymgr aka Goro - for the kernel I use as base.
4. Me - for putting these together
Instructions:
1. Do a backup before you proceed.
2. Download LockedBL.zip and copy it to SD Card: http://www.multiupload.com/1FI3RBPCOF
You need to install my modded kernel that comes with CWM5 first
- do steps 3 & 4 if your current rom is running on stock kernel or standard custom kernels
- skip steps 3 & 4 if you are currently running my Miui or FXP Port
3. Download CWM5.zip here: http://www.multiupload.com/9C0LAWAVJW
4. Flash it with xRecovery
5. Reboot and press [Back] key when "Xperia" logo appears, you should get into CWM5
6. Install the rom (FXP, FXP Miui or Miui Prime)
7. Install LockedBL.zip
8. Reboot and enjoy the rom
The rom will run on my modded Free Kernel 4.05.4 and support dual recoveries.
- To get into xRecovery, press [Back] key when SE logo appears
- To get into CWM5, press [Back] key when "Xperia" logo appears
thanks man,
now,we can play more

[Q] Tried to root my Xperia Ray ST18i but now i'm stuck.

Dear reader,
I've been trying to root my phone for a couple of days now. (Sony Xperia Ray ST18i)
I've browsed to numerous forums/websites in search of a good tutorial/guide to help me do it.
Finally i've managed to find youtube clips which helped me step by step to getting it done.
First thing i did was this:
How to unlock BootLoader on Xperia Ray[Official 4.0.4 ICS]
[Can't post links on here yet because of the spam block. If you look for the title on youtube, you should be able to find it]
I already encountered my first problem there. I wasn't able to unlock bootloader on my android 4.0.4 so i downgraded my phone to gingerbread 2.3.4. After that i repeated the unlock bootloader tutorial and i succesfully managed to unlock it.
After this i tried to root my phone with the easy rooting kit v.1.0
This worked but after turning my phone on, i noticed that the phone wasn't actually rooted yet.
After contacting the person who made the bootloader video, he told me that i had to flash my kernel. So i went ahead and used another of his video tutorials. (don't mind his english accent btw)
How to flash costum kernel[Sony Xperia Ray]
[Can't post links on here yet because of the spam block. If you look for the title on youtube, you should be able to find it]
Now this, running with gingerbread 2.3.4. worked without a problem and i currently have a custom kernel installed onto my phone.
This is where i run into my problem.
According to his next video tutorial:
How to root Xperia Ray
[Can't post links on here yet because of the spam block. If you look for the title on youtube, you should be able to find it]
He shows that you need to be in your phone's regular menu, in order to root your phone with the easy root kit made by DooM.
My problem is that i currently am stuck in the phone kernel menu. When i try to let my phone load up normally, it just keeps rebooting.
The kernel menu btw looks exactly the same like the one shown in the link below:
Xperia play (HOW TO ROOT, FLASH KERNEL, FLASH ROM )
[Can't post links on here yet because of the spam block. If you look for the title on youtube, you should be able to find it]
Now i've tried my best to be as detailed as possible with what my current situation is.
My question would be: What am i doing wrong and how can i root my phone from where it is right now, because as it stands. I'm unable to use my phone.
Kind Regards,
Cashtecz
ps. ( i did a quick search on the forums but i haven't come across as post that shares the same problem as i have)

If your bootloader is unlocked, not via pc companion or over the air.
On which rom are you currently on?
Normally you do a backup with for example titanium backup and flash the custom kernel, install the custom rom and restore the titanium backup...
P.S.: For every android version there is a zip file which contains the "gapps" (google apps like playstore) which you can flash with clockworkmod

How to use Cyanogen Mod 10

Hello guys,
I am a pure NOOB regarding Flashing, rooting and such stuff..
Yesterday, i went through Xperia Blog and found out that my Xperia Mini Pro will not be getting JB anymore, i was shocked... I am left with a buggy ICS which is bloated and a battery hog.....
I searched in Google if there is an alternate way to install JB and finally found out about Cyanogen Mod 10... As i am a newbie, i am just ignorant about all the steps that is being mentioned on each steps for installing it like for instance to Flash, Root etc...
Can anyone guide me through in installing JB or maybe a link to a thread with a detailed instruction for a noob like me..
Thanks Guys..
Dial *#*#7378423#*#* then goto Servicr info--->Configuration and tell us the Rooting Status
Sent from my ST15i using xda premium
Okay, but for these steps you will loose your warranty.
Look in my signature, there's how to unlock the bootloader. This is necessary to flash the custom cyanogenmod 10 kernel. But you can only unlock if your rooting status is "Bootloader unlock allowed: yes", like jobayer said.
If your bootloader is already unlocked (only if you bought it second hand and the guy before you unlocked it), your bootloader status is "Bootloader unlocked: yes". Then you can go on with my tutorial how to install a custom rom. There's explained how to flash the kernel (boot.img) and how to install the rom.
If your rooting status is "bootloader unlock allowed: no", you can't do anything, except from paying for unlock the bootloader. This is hard to unlock, so I hope you have the rooting status "Bootloader unlock allowed: yes" :good:
For any questions just ask
BootLoader Unlock allowed: Yes
Hello,
Thanks for the speedy reply...:fingers-crossed:

Yes, now, if you want to install cyanogenmod, you can go on with unlocking bootloader. This will void warranty! If you want to, please look in my signature for a guide
If the bootloader is unlocked, you could go on with how to install a custom kernel/rom.
Hope these tutorials could help you, for any questions just ask
You can easily unlock your bootloader by this toolkit
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560613
(without writing any commands)
Then install a prerooted kernel to get root access
I suggest Kamarushv3 kernel... It is prerooted and will install clockworkmod
Then you will have to download FXP 142... the most stable CM10 for xperia mini
Then flash the kernel provided by fxp from the toolkit mentioned above
Your kernel will be installed
Then just flash the zip file via clockworkmod...
You will have JB running on your device

Here are the download links for all cm10 FXP
i strongly recommend fxp142
In fxp138 camera don't work and it lags too much
And about Kamarushv3 kernel... It is easier to root this way... Otherwise you have to downgrade to gingerbread to root your phone
But by flashing any prerooted kernel you can directly get rooted...
Instead of saying thanks... You can always press thanks button
If you still face any problems... Just ask:thumbup:

Yup you must have your phone rooted to flash any custom ROM... In your case CM10 BY FXP
but as mihahn mentioned above that fxp kernel is prerooted...
So your phone will be rooted the moment you install the kernel... Clockworkmod will be installed
And then just flash the fxp142 zip via clockworkmod
To flash kernel
Follow steps given in quangnhut123 thread
You must have Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 installed to use the toolkit

First put the FXP142 zip and the gapps for jelly bean on your sd card
If you mean fastboot.exe with flashboot.exe, no. You don't need it. Just download the SE Bootloader Unlocking Tool and run it. Follow the instructions to unlock the bootloader.
After that you can flash the kernel (which is a boot.img in the FXP142_CM10.zip, extract the zip and you have the boot.img). Now you flash the boot.img.
If there are no errors/bad blocks in the log disconnect the device and boot it. Press volume down again and again. Then you are in clockworkmod. Choose wipe data/factory reset and advanced -> wipe dalvik cache (you navigate with the volume + and - button and select with the home button, back with back button).
Now install zip from sd card -> choose zip -> choose the FXP142 zip. Wait until it has finished installing. Now you flash the gapps for jelly bean with install zip from sd card ...
Reboot and enjoy
i think i will be using mihahn's step as written in his post.. I think it is quite user friendly for a noob like me..
First i will unlocked the BL as instructed by mihahn in his post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31376248#post31376248
and then i will install FXP10 as instructed in his post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879982
Hope i will not have a Brick phone..Keeping my fingers crossed..
UPDATE:
successfully updated to Jelly Bean yesterday with help from mihahn and PREDATOR95. Thanks again Guys....
The new Jelly Bean from CyanogeMod from Free Xperia is much much more smoother and faster than the ICS that was offered by Sony, although i miss few features of Sony, but i don't mind it as i am no longer using that laggy and buggy ICS of Sony......
Loving every bit of my new Android version.. So smooth even in its alpha(or maybe Beta) phase.........
Thanks guys...

Go in settings >accessibility
Select "power button ends call"
Now you can end calls by pressing power button...
Its just an alternative to the solution of your problem...
I don't use the Pattern lock... And don't have any knowledge about this bug
You should better ask Mihahn or FXP

Yes this is a bug, the proximity sensor is not working. There should be a fix around here, but not sure if there's one for sk17i yet. You could ask in FXP Cm10 thread, there are fixes for lww and st15i, maybe there's one for sk17i, too
EDIT:: Try this, but please make a nandroid backup before and backup the old configuration. Just in case it's not working!

[Q] I thought I had it all figured out...

I recently updated my friend's X10 to 2.3.3 (she was still on 2.1 - amazing).
I went forth and unlocked the boot loader and rooted the device - no issues at all.
Now I guess I simply wanted too much. Intrigued by all the ICS ROMs lying around here I finally decided to try one.
Good so I read a few howtos, and figured I needed to flash a new kernel before I flash a new rom. First things first, right?
So I flash feralab's v4.5 kernel as it seemed to be in a stable state. The next step would have been to install Vashida Reddys 003 ROM but I didn't get that far. Flashtool told me the kernel flash was successful... unfortunately the phone didn't boot anymore. Or only until the green Sony Ericsson logo
Desperately I downloaded SEUS and went back to stock.
What is it I did wrong? :-/

What do you mean by full wipe? factory reset, all the wipe options in xrecovery, format sd-card? Anything else?
Is it the right order to flash the kernel first and custom ics rom afterwards?

okay.. I'll give it another shot. If you are new to all this all these colorful threads with hundreds of posts to read are quite a chaos you know
If you take that rom, you need that kernel and afterwards you need these fixes and gapps and this shiny addon pack etc. etc. Oh well anything else would be too easy
do I use fastboot mode or flashmode to flash a kernel .ftf file?
Edit: Found another thread. The information there was inconclusive but apparently flashmode is the right choice.
Fun Fact. In Fera's V4 ROM the English installer says: Thanks for choosing feralabs or something similar. However the German translation says "You will regret choosing feralabs". I hope I don't

Use flashmode.
So did everything work out? If your friend wants all features working on her phone I suggest you stick to gingerbread. DonutHD stock gingerbread is a really nice fast and most importantly stable on. You could find it in the development section.
Ps. You need to be on stock kernel so you should flash 2.3.3 again(if not already done) and root and go from there. Do this if your a good friend ics for x10 us just not there yet. Give my regards.

xperia mini pro almost bricked because of a custom rom

Hello guys, please forgive me if any of this has caused the slightest troubles to you
So,
i just rooted my phone a day ago and installed clockwork mod too...
i am a total newbie and don't know anything about this.... So i went searching for some custom mods for my sk17i or Xperia mini pro...
And i found one on this site http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2102979
So then i installed it from the instructions given on most of the websites... i had a kernel of 4.1.b.0.587 on the phone and i don't even know much about flashtool...
Now the rom is installed or whatever it is but the UI has completely changed and it's not like the pics on the site... It's just completely black... And the worse part is that i can't even access my settings menu on the phone... So now i am blocked from doing anything... i cant even start usb debugging and take off the root....
please tell me some roms for the phone or any other way this can be undone...
Oh and btw i also tried installing some roms from http://get.cm/?device=mango because i thought cyanogen is pretty famous...
But none of them gets installed... and i even tried placing them as updates but no luck :crying::crying:
please help... thank you so much

Hmmm...if i understand your problem correctly, you ROOT and install CWM on you Mango, then you flash custom mods...problem appears after flashing custom mods right????
Hmmm....okey, for you info, those custom mods are for CM10 Roms ONLY and i believe you haven't flash CM10 Roms FIRST before you flash those mods...you can't use those mods on STOCK ROM (GB and ICS)...its designed for JB rom only....No wonder your phone got black screen...you trying to flash some mods that isn't COMPATIBLE with your roms...you need to flash STOCK Roms back if you want to fixed your problem...
for you second question...did your phone BOOTLOADER is Unlock??? if is not then sorry you can't CM Roms without unlocking the Bootloader first....CM Roms mush use CUSTOM KERNEL not STOCK KERNEL and after Unlocking you Bootloader then you can flash CUSTOM KERNEL and CM Roms...
Thank you so much!

As far as I know, the kernel should be in the rom.zip (it's the boot.img). Extract it and flash it using flashtool or the fastboot tools
Otherwise search for a kernel for android 4.2.2 in Dev section and flash that one. Should work too
Sent from my Nexus 4 running Android 4.2.2
One thing to remember is, before flashing a custom ROM or MOD, ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP.
To be on the safer side, backup every week or so and keep the last two or three backups.
messed up again guys...
umm... hi again..
I didn't brick my phone this time (actually i did for a couple of times trying to install a custom rom)
Now my touch screen is unresponsive...

Your phone got almost bricked,No it didnt, First thing before installing a custom ROM clear your system, data, cache partition..did you do that?
ok so you have CWM installed..follow this exactly
Start CWM by pressing vol down when your phone starts up,Select Mount USB Storage under mounts and storage, connect phone to pc,transfer ROM zip file to sdcard then
format /system ,/data,/cache ,now select install zip from sdcard and select your ROM zip file from sdcard
Reboot System..
You should be clear now..
Hope i helped..
Regards..
PS :Certain CM ROMS can be highly unstable so i recommend checking out the bugs and everything before you flash a CM rom..otherwise ICS is always smooth and stable..and have got a lot a lot of mdpi roms on xda..thanks to devs..
EDIT: if u r on a stock kernel, then unlock your bootloader by following steps at unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com then flash a custom kernel that supports JB..look over at the index thread created by predator at the dev section..
then follow my steps above..
DO NOT FLASH CUSTOM JB ROM ON STOCK ICS KERNEL.IT WONT WORK.
