All of the sudden my sd cards say they aren't mountable since I erased all of the data off my phone. I am ROM less. I have tried different recoverys and they say the same thing. I have also switched SD cards and same problems. I also reformated mine and still doesn't work. I know it isn't the phone because it will allow me to install a recovery in bootloader off the SD card. PLEASE HELP!

HEY i had this sd card in my phone for less then 3 months and my phone was freezing and all that stff but finnally today i master reset my phone and when i turn it on it told me to format phone i plug it in with my computer and tried to backup everything and when i open the sd card icon on my computer it said that i have to format it so i did it and it said me that "cant format this device" so i placed sd card into my phone and i finally was formatted and now after all this thing now there is no sd card on my device :i have it in but can read while it says me to format it : anybody can help ?????????????
Had the same problem with the phone not recognizing sd card (after trying to format card). However, after updating the ROM, put the card back in, and all was back to normal. You might try a hard reset, but with the card removed.
After the gingerbread update, the phone will not see that any sd card is installed (it did prior to the update). I've tried 2 different cards, mess with connection, press down the metal housing. Need some help please, thanks.

Have you tried Settings > Storage > Mount SD Card?

does your computer recognizes it?
Well, the mount sd card is grey'd out, not selectable. Both cards can be accessed by the computer.
After 2.3.4 Update - SD Card Problem
Same here,
Had 2.2.2 and flashed the official 2.3.4 sbf and memory card is not recognized now.
Tried different cards as well and nothing. Mount and Format are grayed out.
Flashed it with SD and Sim out... If that might make a difference.
Maybe I should try flashing with the sd in?
Any suggestions?
I figured it out
Connect the phone (Mass Storage) with the SD in via USB and check if 2 partitions are recognized on the PC 1st (internal) and 2nd (SD-not accessible).
While connected to the PC take the cover off atrix and remove SD and slide it back it, if it doesn't see it instantly try again. The phone should say that it has detected the card. You might have to format it if it's not FAT32
No need to flash it again.
Hope this helps
Cheers
This is what worked for me
I had the same issue, and could not find the fix anywhere. I tried every fix I found in any posts. But nothing worked. I could not format or mount my SD Card.
Then, I noticed the "internal sd storage" said "not available"...
... I thought hmmmmmm... so I formatted it.
And after that, I could format the External SD Card and mount it...
Hope this helps somebody else.
Apparently, if it fails to mount the internal storage, it will fail to mount the external as well...
Cheers!
Earlier today, I realized that my phone doesn't recognize my SD card. I tried taking it out and putting it back in with no luck. Then I decided to re-flash the rom with ClockworkMod Recovery but it requires the sd card to flash which mine does not work. I also tried downloading twrp2.0 but again, the bootloader won't recognize it because it's not on the SD card. Lastly, I factory reset the phone hoping it would format the sd card, but now every time I unlock the phone, there is just a black screen. Any suggestions?
How did you factory format it?
From when the phone is turned on, or on recovery?
What you should do is get the memory card and stick it on your computer. It might be corrupted or something alike.
Once on your computer, format it to fat/fat32.
On windows:
Go on my computer, wait for memory device to be detected, and right click it.. then format.
On Mac:
Open: "Disk Utility" by either going to "utilities" on applications folder, or by searching for it on the spotlight search bar.
Then click umm.. im not on my mac now, google it.
After you do all that, put the ROM and the Recovery.
Then flash away.
Hope this helps.

Well, the phone says it can't mount the SD Card, even when I placed a different one in so I think it's an issue with the phone or rom.

take out the external sd card and do a nandroid on the internal sd card...then restart the phone and save you're nandroid somwhere safe...This is not going to solve your SD issue, but you'll atleast have a backup copy of your system if you ever have to get a new one... also if you have an micro sd to sd adaptor, try to stick the sd card in your computer (assuming you have an SD reader) and try to format it that way fat32 i believe.

I did the Nandroid Backup and I do have a USB with a port to insert a Micro SD Card, but it doesn't show that I plugged anything in. It may be a problem with the SD Card, but I also have another 8 Gig one that it won't mount or recognize.
when u go to settings-storage...what do you see? do you see mount/unmount sd card? or u cant even go to settings?
Stop replying and start listening.
You need to RE-format your SD card to FAT32.

Would it be possible to flash twrp through the bootloader or through fastboot without the SD, or can I flash a rom directly from clockwork recovery without an SD Card?

You can flash a recovery without an sdcard.
With the device in bootloader mode:
fastboot flash recovery c:\recoverydirectory\recoveryname.img

Thanks! I was able to flash TWRP and flash Android Revolution.
Hi Guys,
my problem is as follows:
My Galaxy S2 is unable to mount the external SD card. if I force it by clicking the button in the settings menu, it says preparing to mount SD card for a split second and then nothing happens....
First of all, I searched this forum for other posts. I found a few which seem to have kind of the same issue, but none of them helped me.
If there is a post with exactly the same issue, please point me to it!
I updated from CM9 to CM10 2 days ago, since exactly that moment my phone isn't able to mount the SD card anymore.
I tried to reflash CM10. I did do a full wipe, also a dalvik and a cache wipe. I tried another kernel (sihya).
The SD card as itself still works, if my S2 is attached to my PC, I'm able to read and write to the SD card.
I flashed CM10 and the Kernel from the external SD card. I tried to format the SD card (fat32), still nothing.
I think my last chance is to try out another SD card.
apprechiate any help!

When i have my SD installed on my phone and try to enter on recovery mode (TWRP) it gets stuck on TWRP Boot logo, i need to pull my battery to shutdown the phone.
if i remove the SDCard and try to boot into recovery it works without any problem.
i installed TWRP through AutoRec from Play Store.
Now i'm on marshamallow and i use the SD Card as internal memory, so i dont know if i can remove it without cause any problems just to use TWRP.

When you decide to make your sd card "Adoptable (internal) Storage" your phone not only incorporates the card as internal, but it also ENCRYPTS your sd card. Now the only device that will read your card is your phone. Try and load it on a desktop or your laptop and it won't even recognize your card. Because it encrypts your SD CARD, TWRP cannot see your card and thus gets stuck on the TEAMWIN screen when booting into recovery. When you remove the card and reboot into recovery, then TWRP works again. How I fixed it is to go to storage, and settings and change the card back to "Transportable (extrnal) Storage." The phone will reformat your card again (thus erasing everything on the card) and make it external and able to be read from any device (laptop, desktop, etc.). This will also allow TWRP to see the card again and will not freeze on TEAMWIN screen when booting into recovery. Also, if you revert the sd card back to Transportable Storage, your phone will "remember" that you had an SD CARD assigned to Adoptable Storage. You need to click on that SD CARD and choose "FORGET" card. this will remove that SD CARD and assign your newly reformatted Transportable SD CARD as the only card on your phone. If you don't do this "FORGET" step, your camera, your gallery will force close everytime you try to open it because it is looking for the Adoptable SD CARD that you got rid of yet your phone still thinks it exists. Once you "FORGET" that SD CARD, your phone will function properly. I learned all this the hard way and hours and hours of reading.
TWRP - Does hybrid partitioning possible after SD Card reverting Int->Ext allocation?

Thanks a lot texasjmzmd for your diagnostic and fix, very helpful! TWRP documentation says nothing about possible hybrid partitioning Int+Ext to extend Internal memory keeping External capacity, except the menu proposing to allocate some memory (with no precision about memory units bytes/kbytes/mbytes). Some enlightment about that issue would be more than welcome : a link to documentation or any related post.
