Weird situation that makes little sense. When I connect my GP to my PC nothing shows in Odin.
1. Windows detects the device
2. I can transfer files if I connect as storage
3. I can flash using Heimdall
4. The cable is known good
5. The USB port seems legit
6. I have USB debugging turned on
7. GP is rooted
8. Odin ver. 1.85
I know I have to have done something stupid. The device itself is fine and in perfect working order other than Odin not being able to see it. The searches I have done usually point to bad cables or USB ports. I can keep trying different ports but I only have one cable(the original) and it has worked without issue ever since I cracked open the retail package.
Anyway, it's not a huge issue(again, the device is fine). It just struck me as weird. I'll keep trying new USB ports and maybe another PC then report back. If you have any ideas what could have caused this, I'm all ears.

Sonova! Thanks, I knew it was something stupid. Much appreciated Mevordel.
I am having the same issue, however I have only installed the Samsung drivers not the Zadig. I installed the most current driver v1.5.18.0

well are you trying to use odin?
heimdall can do the same stuff it just has different drivers
if you want the samsung drivers, install kies
I was able to do everything with Heimdall. I won't worry about it.

Hi guys,
I have a problem that's fairly common but I can't get it right
I can't install new drivers for my SGS2, my pc/laptop don't recognize it anymore.
I have flashed an ICS rom before so I also tried the Nexus S drivers, no success.
I have tried to work with Android SDK manager but since my laptop can't find my phone, it won't find it as an adb device.
I managed to get back on 2.3.3 via CWM manager but my USB jig also doesn't work anymore.
I have tried everything regarding Kies and new drivers so I'm pretty much out of hope... Anyone with suggestions?
You could use mobile odin, also if you flash back to ics you can reset counter with triangleaway and then flash back to gb

Problem is that I can't flash back the old bootloader..
I think the logical step would be to try another PC, given you've tried everything else & nothing has worked.
You could also maybe try Heimdall (search for it on here).
Also, if you haven't tried different USB cables (in particular the one that came with the phone), give that a shot. Also make sure you're connecting the phone to a powered/mainboard USB port & not a hub port. Also, try toggling USB debugging in your phone settings.
That's about all I got. Try these things if you haven't already, but definitely try another PC.

I have tried different ports with different cables, different pc also won't install the drivers.
Usb debugging on/off doesn't work either.
Going to try heimdall today but it has something to do with my phone since I flashed so many files before with my pc and with my laptop.
Will post after I tried.
Yeah it sounds like a phone issue given you have been able to flash firmware with that PC previously. Good luck with Heimdall, fingers crossed for you.

Nope, heimdall can't recognize my phone either.
Running out of ideas here.
I guess there isn't an option to flash the old bootloader other than Odin huh?
Unfortunately Mobile Odin can't flash bootloaders yet, so Odin (and probably Heimdall) are your only options. Either way you're going to need USB.

My PC recently stopped working properly it connects but always fails flashing via Odin, I managed to set up Odin etc on GF laptop so at least I can use Odin if needed. Could you not try restoring your PC to earlier date and see if that works or uninstall everything to do with phone, kies, Odin adb etc and do a fresh install of everything

My phone doesn't connect at all.
I have tried uninstalling everything including drivers and such via USBDeview.
The problem lies with the phone itself I think, not my pc.
I think I have found the problem.
I think my USB port from my phone is broken.
I will try to reset my binary counter with Triangleaway, then flash back original firmware without root and then send it for repair to the Vodafone shop!
Hope this works

I have the same problem. I came from CM9 and now I cannot connect my phone to the PC. I am using CheckRom V6.
Do you think it has to do with the bootloader? Or might the usb port be broken as well?

Yeah I think that it has to do with the bootloader, but a broken usb port is also a common problem.
I still have warranty so I will just let Vodafone repair it.
If my pc still doesn't recognize it after that, then I'm screwed.

Ok but if it is a bootloader problem, we should not be the only ones having that problem.
I do not think I can send my phone to repair, since I am abroad for another few months.

Correct, I have searched the whole internet and there are some others with the same problem with the bootloader, but they can connect their phone and install the drivers I guess. I have tried everything regarding new drivers and such so I reckon that my usb port is broken.

I am trying to root my SGS3 international via Odin. The problem is that when I connect it to the computer in download mode, nothing happens. The device is not detected and the drivers are not being intalled. Worst of all ID : Com does not turn blue/yellow and the device is not added to Kies.
I have installed Kies, separate driver packs, I have tried different cables, different usb ports (on and off the mainboard of the PC), I have googled the problem for hours and still cannot figure it out.
Any advice?

You might have the same issue as I had.. I flashed a new firmware via Mobile Odin Pro.
Drivers shoudnt be installed when phone is in download mode but when its connected to the computer.. Before or after KIES is installed.
Did it work? Does anything happen at all?

Thank you for your reply.
I thought of that myself. But in order for me to use Mobile Odin Pro, I nedd to get root and in order to get root, I need to use Odin to flash the root files.
Nothing happens at all when the phone is connected to the computer in download mode. If the phone is booted in android, the drivers begin to install and Odin sees the phone (needless to say, I cannot flash while in Android mode). When I reboot in download mode, nothing happens.
have you made sure kies isn't running in the background? You need to kill all kies processes before using Odin or it may interrupt your flash. Aside from that you could uninstall kies and drivers and just try inhaling the drivers on their own? Which Windows version are you using? Xp can be problematic
Any idea whatsoever would be welcome

have seen a few reports of defective cables, but more likely a server problem or port problem, try a Google or search the threads as there have been quite a few posts regarding this matter, unfortunately I haven't got any links to hand

it does if u install software and later u have to connect ur device via download mode. it detects ur phone in download mode
August 2012 post you searched and replied to very very strange .
Hi all, I understand this issue has been posted many times but I may have a different issue than most. Both of my s2 phones cant be seen by Odin in debugging mode but recognized when booted up.
1. I have checked and both Samsung USB and ADB drivers are installed fine and seen in devices and printers within windows 7. (tried different flavours of the driver too)
2. Debugging mode is on before going into download mode
3. I have tried 2 known working cables as I used them previously to update.
4. Tried 3 different versions of Odin
5. Tried 4 different USB ports
One is on stock android ICS and the other on the wrong version of ICS I9100P instead of I9100. I did this in error when first playing with ROMs.
I haven't tried it on another machine although that may be an option later next week. I am guessing it has to be the PC but at a loss as to what could be causing it.
Any help would be appreciated since I have been playing around with this for 4 hours and getting no where.
thanks in advance
Chris
Well Chris, it's time for you to download Kies.
And close the antivirus just in case.
Laptops are good for this kind of thing too.

But make sure that Samsung drivers is installed. uninstall the kies and disable your anti-virus.

I tried rebooting and disabling the antivirus but it made no difference. Never tried it without kies installed, although I opened up task manager and killed all related processes to do with kies. I suppose its something to try tonight!
I checked to see if kies would see the devices and the GT-I9100 Stock ROM connected fine but the fact that I have a foreign rom on the other one causes issue.
Its an odd one
uninstall all the adb or samsung drivers including kies restart and then just only install kies

Its worth a try mate, I will give it a go tonight.
I have been going over it in my head. It has to be the adb driver as it works in kies, gets recognised by odin when turned on and affects multiple devices. What really puzzles me is that when in download mode the driver loads fine and the phone is showing in devices and printers. The only thing not seeing it is odin.
Try 3 odin versions at least.
Another usb port/cable.
Another pc/laptop.

Wow, looks deep. How do you ruin a motherboard with software? That sounds scary. Like ghosts are involved.
My I605 was rooted using Casual one click. Worked fine. Then I put Revolution HD 15.0 on like a retard because I didnt realize it didnt support my phone. Made it to where I had to back to stock using CI605_I605VRLJB_I605VRALJB_CL414933_HWID04_HW-Rev0406_low_ship_user.tar.md5 and Mobile Odin. Why mobile odin do you ask? Because I cant get my pc to recognize my Note 2 through odin. Worked great got back to stock 4.1.1. After a few hours of perfect operation I did the OTA 4.1.2 and installed it and imediately got boot loop samsung note 2 white screen with no Recovery Option available but I do have download mode. I tried Odin from the computer again and it still wont recognize my phone being connected. Think I did it real good this time.... Any takers?

Yes sir I just tried a different cord and port. What seems to happen is drivers are installed and says Samsung Device but I get no feedback from Odin on the com port.
For more information I do have Kies, Odin pit and tar files, Odin 307, Samsung usb drivers installed. Unfortunately I don't have another pc to try.
Hmmmm. I just tested my connection using Odin 3.07 and Odin 1.85 and neither showed a connection to my Note II. However, when I'm powered on normally and connect the same USB from the same PC port, the Note II is recognized. So I'm not sure what is going on with Odin and am a bit worried myself should I ever need to go back to stock. Unfortunately I'm not a guru, but hopefully one will visit this thread and put forth their thoughts and guidance.
Sorry I couldn't help more.

Hey everybody. I didn't get any replies in the vibrant section, and I figured it is also an over all samsung product question so here goes. I bought a very messed up samsung galaxy vibrant t959 off a friend for $20 hoping I could fix it. They had flashed a captivate rom to it but I can still manage to get it into download mode. But heres the problem. Odin wont recognize it when I plug it in it just says windows does not recognize device has malfunctioned or something along the lines of that, the bubble shows up over and over every two seconds. I got odin to recognize it once before, but my brother unplugged it XP. Now I can not get odin to recognize it again, any tips? I have a linux computer at my disposal as well if that helps. I am familiar with flashing, odin, android sdk, adb. I know I have drivers installed good because the same cable with the same port and same computer I actually modded this same device before my friend messed it up. Any help at all would be much appreciated.

I would recommend uninstalling and then re-installing your USB drivers and see if Odin will then recognize the phone. Another alternative would be to see if Heimdall recognizes the device and use that to flash the stock ROM to the device. If you are unfamiliar on how to use Heimdall I would recommend taking a look at this guide.

You can try it on Linux I can't guarantee it will make a difference but I would try it anyway. If you are going to try it on Linux make sure you configure USB access for the device correctly in order for the computer to recognize your phone.
