[Q] Lost my password.

Hi all,
Yesterday for fun some friends of mine chose to put a numerical password on my phone, I said it was not a problem since I thought there was an option to unlock it if password was forgotten with Google account (I remembered doing it sometimes in the past).
But it looks like there is not this option anymore.
I know a factory reset will remove the password but I actually have some very importants messages that I can not lost.
So I would like to know if there's a way to avoid the password or at least backup messages to my computer or something like that.
Thank you very much for your understanding.
Im no expert but heres what i would do:
First enter recovery Mode and BACKUP
Now dumped the backul to ur pc
Now comes the part i do not know spe ifics about...? Seach Google for the boot security loader for ur android version.. There should be a configs file that sets the lock level modify that to no security and it should work im swaeching for a good link now

Locked phone with PIN losckreen password - Miui v4

Hello. I just set PIN password on my Miui v4 to easy "0852" using Swype numerical keyboard. After locking in, i cant unlock it - the password is not working. I have no idea what to do. I don't want to factory reset my phone. Is there any chance to avoid lockscreen? I have no wifi / 3g enabled on phone, and I can't turn it on. The only way to change something is recovery.

Problem solved. Deleting (via ADB & CWM) /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db is solution for missed password.

nevermind, removed sim card and got past lock but alas that file is nowhere to be seen, using China Mobile so that may be part of the issue - looks like I'll have to replace my sim card
You don't need USB Debugging if you're on Recovery (TWRM or Clockworkmod).

[Q] Can I install an apk when locked out of phone?

Hi everyone,
I was trying out the Pattern Lock feature on my HTC Incredible S and got locked out after too many incorrect attempts.
I can't use my email address and password to verify my account as my data and wifi are switched off.
To get around this problem, I've transferred to my microSD card the XtraSec apk that will allow me to remotely switch on wifi and data. However, I'm not sure how to trigger the installation of the apk when I can't get past the lock screen
Can I use fastboot to access the file explorer app (ES file explorer) or apk installer app to get the apk to install?
I haven't rooted the phone and it's running the latest version of Android. I'm not sure if I have USB debugging enabled.
I'd like to avoid doing a reset if possible coz I haven't backed up the things that aren't on the sd card.
Hoping someone can help me :fingers-crossed:
With out being rooted your stuck without factory resetting

Re-enter your password/pin even before setting up a pin/password? Android (fix)

If your getting a promt to re-enter your pin even before setting up one? Try this method, it may fix the problem. I was having the same issue after flashing an new ROM or restoring a TWRP backup.
How to fix
Using a root explorer go to root\data\system folder( if it asks for password during setup then do the same using TWRP file manager)
Then find "locksettings.db" and rename it to "locksettings.db.old" .
This should stop confilcs of you old ROM password which confuses it in thinking that there is a pin setup.
Android will automatically creat a new file "locksettings.db" after reboot and you should be good to go
This worked for me, if it helps you please thank the post!

You're a life saver! This has been plaguing me for weeks (and many wipes and restores)
I do have this 2nd weird problem though, after I set a new pin/pattern. If you leave the device locked too long, when you enter the pin/pattern it resets the screen and brings you back to lock screen. Not sure how to fix this one yet!
