Just got my One, have two concerns - AT&T HTC One (M7)

I just got my HTC One and have two issues I'm hoping you guys can help me out with:
1- Whenever you play sound, it seems the next 2 seconds following there is a popping noise that comes from the speakers as if the speaker is turning off. In a quiet environment, and with the phone relatively close to your face (how I use it when in bed), after you play sound on your phone, do you hear a popping noise from the speaker about 2 seconds after? It's EXTREMELY annoying since the speakers face you.
2- Open up your settings app (with the white background) - do you notice any faint horizontal lines faded in the background? They look almost grey, and very faint. Let me know if your phone has these on white background or if my screen is defected.
The phone seems great, but these two things are kind of bugging me, especially the popping sound. Please let me know if you're experiencing these.
Thanks.

Doesn't happen on mine. What a bummer. Take a trip to an AT&T store and get them to replace it.

Probably not normal, you should try to exchange it.

I may have noticed some kind of movement when waking up the phone on white backgrounds. But I'm not sure, my vision sucks and the "movement" goes away.

1- I heard it, very very faint, but it's definitely there. It's only going to be a real problem if the black One® comes out in less than 30 days
2- Nope didn't see that.

yes, i also hear a popping sound

I think I read something about this on the international boards. I remember reading it was a software issue and will be fixed

Great! After reading this, now I cant unhear it. It is very faint, but there.
The same thing happened on my Motorola Bionic when it upgraded from GB to ICS. I can hear "shut off" sound with my headphones. The Bionic upgraded to JB recently and the sound is gone. So, the fix for the One is a software update. Not a deal breaker for me.

I'm glad to hear that. Meaning it's software base. Thank you

The popping sound comes and goes for me. There is a thread about it in general.

I also see those grey lines in the Settings app. They aren't the dividers. They are in between them. VERY faint. I would probably have never noticed them until I read this thread =

[Q] Screen on - static noise in headphones

I have this weird problem when headphones are connected and screen is on. Any screen activity, like scrolling or changing results in quite some static noise in the headphones. Since I have in-ears headphones this is quite loud and annoying. Does anyone else have same problem and/or solution for it?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Hmmmmm.......now that does sound weird. You think a vibration option is interfering?
don't think it's got anything to do with the vibration. basically if i touch the screen and keep finger on it without moving it - i start hearing some static. Moving it around the screen (without screen changing) makes the noise louder and if screen starts changing - like scrolling or some weather animation starts playing the noise becomes really annoying.
*whistles* When I was on my Hero I had a similar issue and just changed cords. It reduced the static but not by much, but I accepted it since it was a low end phone. But this is a high end one. It's amazing something like that has crossed over to the 3D. I hope we can find a solution to that.
Same thing here, I think its just something we have to live with.

hm that sucks... it didn't happen on my Nexus S, probably gotta try Galaxy S II and see if it's an HTC specific issue... Or LCD specific issue maybe since Samsung uses SAMOLEDs.

[Q] Dat Light...?

I'm unsure if anyone tackled or even noticed this one yet, but I noticed that after I unlocked the bootloader via htcdev.com, whenever I make a call, there's a little red light that sits above the HTC branding (left of the notification LED) that flickers repeatedly whenever I make any phone calls. Is this a unlocked bootloader indicator, malfunction, or normal function of the phone? Also, can someone tell me what that light is for if it's not an indicator of a call?

I don't ever get the red indicator light unless my battery level is low.
In fact I don't have any LED light while I'm on a call at all.

I'm not saying the notification LED. It's a separate light to the left of it. It's located conveniently right above the right side of the T in the HTC branding. It's very very faint. The only reason I noticed it was because I was in the dark and I pulled the phone away from my face to look at it.

I'm in the dark right now. I just made a call to my work phone. There is no light.
That's a sensor. It turns the screen off when the phone is by your face..(having a brain fart of what that sensor is called) lol
Edit: proximity sensor

So when that sensor is active, you can see the red flashing it does?
Edit: Well, you seem to have won the cookie. I don't know why my proximity sensor is actually visible. I just tested it with my thumb. Turns out that that is indeed the proximity sensor.
Mine does the same thing only its completly random. I'll look over and it'll be flashing. I decided to just ignore it a few weeks ago.

Mines doing it to, its really very faint and wouldn't have noticed it had I not read this.

I noticed this a while a ago it is the proximity sensor, its not next to the left of the ambient light sensor and it is NOT the led!!, go into a dark room and make a call it'll start blinking...or any app that uses proximity sensor...Also if you have the option of pocket mode it'll probably be running all the time but i'm not sure, it should technically run when you receive a call, but you will definitely notice that it'll blink very very rapidly while you're in a call...proximity sensor!!
Whats weird that I noticed also is that when my HTC amaze fell on the floor board of my truck I reached down to pick it up and passed it in front of my Radar detector the L band went off on the radar detector I though maybe a cop out but nope every time i put the phone in the radar detectors view it started going off, pretty weird just wondering if anyone can explain that, it might be the reason its giving off that red glow
It emits infrared light. Some peoples' eyes are better attuned to see it than others. In other words, some people cannot see the light at all, and other people can see it just find - it all depends on how sensitive your eyes are to the infrared spectrum.
yeah i thought i was the only one with this problem. whenever i make calls the light goes crazy even after the call!
hey so after reading this, because i was also trying to find out what it is myself.. i now know what it is..
but recently i noticed that my phone freaked out, and shut itself off, and that red light stayed on.. my phone wouldnt charge nor turn on until
i took the battery out and out it back in.. has that happened to anyone??
Yea I've seen it to

[Q] Clicking inside phone?

Hi, I used the search but I couldn't find anyone else having a problem like this so I'm asking right now!
I just got my HTC One 3 days ago and I absolutely love it! With that being said, I have noticed a strange click that seems to happen inside of the phone everyone and a while. I have tried turning off all the "button noises" in the settings and it still happens, it seems to happen often when I am typing but also happens at other times too. It's not terrible but it is a little annoying as I want my phone to be perfect
Oh and just to clarify it sometimes happen when I tough the screen and sometimes when I don't. So it nothing like a response noise.
Sorry for the block of text!
Thanks!
it is probably just the camera or autofocus sensor had the same problem on my old iphone and all the ones that i've had while changing out for a good one had the same sound

Under sound there is a option to enable touch sounds when making screen selection, it is a clicking type sound, do you have this enabled, drove me crazy for about the first 3 days

Mine has no clicking sound, but my autofocus is broken, going for a replacement today.
Mine has a weird click when the haptic feedback hits sometimes. I think it's just the vibrate motor kicking on.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
^^ I think it is the the vibration kicking in or something. I have turned off all screen tough sounds and everything but it still happens. Like I said, it's not a huge deal but just slightly annoying. I'm going to try turning the vibration on touch off.

[Q] Multiple hardware Issues? Please Help!!

I've been lurking here for a while and just registered so I could ask you all for help.
I have a vzw Galaxy S4 (about a year old) running Android 4.2.2 build MI1. It has been dropped in its has UAG case a couple of times but it has never been wet. So there are a few problems, some related some not. 1) I'm having issues with my screen randomly (so it seems) flashing green lines then going black when I wake it from sleep. The soft buttons will stay illuminated, the screen will let me swipe to unlock (I can here confirmation) but the screen stays black. I'll then hit the lock screen button again and it will go black again. The same thing happens if I go to wake the phone via the home button as well. I have a link to a video of it acting up (Two separate occasions, one where the screen just get's a funky green tint and the other where it goes black) but cannot post it since I'm a new member. Let me know if you want me to pm it to you. Does this seem more like a hardware issue or a software/firmware issue?
2) Whenever my headphones are plugged in all I get is garbled sound coming out. No matter what app I'm using or if I'm making a call. I have also noticed that since this started happening, my ear speaker simply will not work (even with the headphones unplugged). Sometimes, when I plugin headphones then unplug them, I will get no audio out of the rear speaker either. This rear speaker issue continues until I reboot the phone.
All of this is driving me nuts and I don't have the cash to replace the phone with anything comparable so I'd like to fix these issues myself if possible. Please let me know if you have ideas/resources that may help me fix this issues. Thanks.

Ambient Display?

I am looking into possibly buying this phone. Does it have ambient display? I had a lg v20 for a long time and it had the 2nd screen. I like being able to see the time and if i have notifications without having to pick up the phone or turn it on. I recently had to switch to a pixel xl and it sucks! its always a blank screen unless its plugged in to charge (which makes no sense).
anyway. im trying to see if this phone has some sort of ambient display

Thanks! By chance would you be able to tell me if you can feel it vibrate while in your pocket? And if, when on a call you can hear the other person well?

The vibration on this phone is acceptable.
I have no problem feeling the phone in my jeans pocket and I also feel it if I have him on a jacket pocket.
You can hear the other person properly although if you max the volume you'll hear some crackling, especially with headphones.
Other than that it's a good phone for the price you're paying. I got mine oh amazon for 160€ and I'm very pleased!
I put an app on mine called Always on AMOLED. You can customize the look. I have it set to show date, time, and battery. The time is very large and the display shifts periodically, so no burn in. Also, if you have music playing it will give you music control buttons. Best of all, the screen doesn't wake up if you plug it in or unplug it. It does use up battery a little faster, but if you put the phone face down or in a case or in your pocket it turns off. I usually have it in an upright dock so it is charging and and I can see the time and any notifications. By the way, the dock is a V20 dock. It works perfectly with this phone.

does yours fade in and out? when i go into the moto app it says moto display should do so, but mine does not. if i get a notification, it will show once, then phone stays blank unless i touch it.
