kernal .215 i blieve

ss3.11
voodoo for unroot
i have tried unroot than install fails.ss back to stock best i can still fails.i would like to run a new rom on it and this seems to be the last thing stoping me from doing so.any advice would be greatly appriceated

based on my past experience, simply reinstalling apps and removing root does not work. I have always had to use RSD lite and re-flash the phone with stock software to update, then re-root and debloat again.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348587
^^is this what you were talking about
and what would be the best way to find stock software..just do the same and google it.or is there a option when i fastboot or something where i can delete my root.rom.and everything back to stock in one faital swoop?
Or you could try using this: http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/t...xt912-jellybean-windows-mac-linux-all-in-one/

My x2 doesnt seem to wont to update to gingerbread i tried to install the pre rooted gingerbread from p3 yesterday to no avail ..i tried wiping data and cache after several failed installs coming rooted 2.2 i decided to try the locked down offical update from vzw. The update always fails to install after it reboots and goes into the recovery. Upon rebooting and goin back to the homescreen the installation still fails. Any suggestions . i even tried unrooting and removing apps that required super user access and still no luck.
You need to SBF your phone back to complete stock in order to install either update. There can't be any removed system apps, or modified system files.

You are not the only one. I did a pre-emptive total defrost and factory reset before downloading the update, so everything should have been stock. The update starts to install, makes it about a fourth of the way through, then the phone reboots and tells me the update failed. After spending an hour with Verizon's tech support I finally convinced them to replace the phone, hopefully with one that already has the update installed..
God, I'm starting to hate smartphones. My old Moto KRZR never gave me this kind of trouble ... I'm seriously thinking of going back to it.
Ok, Just so I have this right. I have to reset the phone to factory settings, then update to GB. A simple unroot will not do the trick. (I tried this and the update failed)
I factory reset my wife's DX before updating to GB and had no issues.
Also as of this post it appears there is no way to root GB 2.3.3 correct?

Nope. Needs to be prerooted because the exploit used by gingerbreak is fixed in the update.
Go to my thread here, it explains how to install the update.
Here's what I did:
From a rooted 2.2.2 - unrooted using gingerbreak, then followed the spf tutorial.
Now back to stock with all my apps, ran the update. Installed fine.
SBF
Just do the SBF procedure listed on several threads and it will work fine. Something that has been done to your phone isn't playing nice with either update. There is virtually no difference between the updates other than the patch for root. I format and factory reset, then sbf and then wipe/data in recovery every time before I flash new roms or updates, just to eliminate any crap that might cause problems. Helps to narrow down what I need and don't need. If I forget to re-install it, I probably don't need it anyways. Good Luck. After root try the eclipse rom it pretty basic mostly just a debloat.
so you can not yet root when you do the GB update......
I have a Droid RAZR that I've ran several roms on.
I am currently on .173 stock rooted. I've unrooted in the past and tried to take on the .181 OTA but it will not install the update. I take from other threads is due to me deleting certain system files I've seen as bloatware?
I am wanting to get to ICS then load Simplex 1.2.
How would you go about getting to ICS if your phone was stuck on .173 and wouldn't willingly update?
I know I can force it but am unsure if I am safe doing so or not..
Thanks for any help.

From what I can tell, you're either going to have to restore those system files or use RSDLite to flash it back to stock
Ok, so my Droid RAZR MAXX is still on Android 4.0.4. It is rooted and I've tried SO MANY different things to do the OTA update. Most recently I backed everything up, temp un-rooted & did a factory data reset, then tried updating again. I may have removed a program with TitaniumBackup so the update may be failing the check. Though I don't know how to see which program was removed.
How do I manually update to stock 4.1.2? Yes, I searched but I either didn't find it or I did and it got lost among the many tabs I had open trying to find the answer.

Have you tried this? http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/t...inux-all-in-one/page__pid__227369#entry227369
I did see that before I was ready to wipe everything on my phone and forgot about it, I'll give it a try.
Ok, so that worked. Wow, wish I tried that a long time ago. Thanks!

Wow, I am having the exact same issue. Matter of fact I posted here too but did not get a reply but have seen the utility you used. Guess I will give that a shot. Of course I already did a factory reset and to no avail, it didn't work. Not sure what I could have done to cause the issue with no OTA success, but I will now try the Utility. Glad you posted and someone answered.
Matt's Utility is amazing. Saved me a lot of time trying to fix problems and its a one stop shop for the OTA update and rooting your phone. Just be aware that this puts you on the .16 kernel and I only know of 6 roms that will work with it right now and not put you in a boot loop (which was my orig problem.)

You can use that to take you to the .8 leak so you can install ROMs based on the leak
Hey all!
I've been struggling with this issue for almost 2 weeks now, I used the Droid Razr Utility by MattLGroff to upgrade from GB -> JB without realizing that there was supposed to be an intermediate step of going from GB -> ICS. So the result of the upgrade has left my display acting all crazy where about a 1/3 of the screen is all garbled, looks like it's displaying noise like an old TV (see attached picture).
I'm able to get root and I install Safestrap 3.11 but when I boot the phone I can't get SS to appear. There is a pause in the boot process as if SS is there waiting for input but nothing I do gets it to boot. I also tried BootMenueManager where I select reboot into recovery and all I get is a black screen where the recovery screen should appear. I've tried re-flashing with the utility about 5 times without any change
So my question is simple, does anyone have any ideas as to what i can do to fix this?
Why can't I flash back to GB or go to ICS? All i've read is that it's not possible and haven't really come across any real reason why it doesn't work.
I appreciate any help you can provide!
Thanks!
You can't go back from Ics to Gb same as from Jb to Ics.
And you can't have Bmm and Safestrap at the same time, just one.
Did you tried flashing the rom with Rsd Lite?
Sent from my RAZR XT910

Just saying that you can't go back to a previous version doesn't tell me the why aspect though. It's missing from a lot of the information out there.
When you say installed on the phone can you clarify? I have SS app installed but the recovery is not installed, i went and used SS's uninstall function but is that enough or do I actually have to remove the entire app? I'm not sure if this makes sense so let me know if i need to clarify.
I haven't tried RSDlite let since there are several other backup steps the lead up to do that from what I've been reading, I just haven't had the time yet. I assume it shouldn't be to hard to find the fastboot files for an XT912 Verizon JB but if you happen to have a known source for the files let me know!
Thanks!
My friend was tinkering with his phone and screwed something up. He was set up running cm11 on romslot1 with safestrap. I don't know what he to screw everything up but right now I can't get it back to stock.
I used matt's utility which completes but Safestrap is still there after complete wipe and keeps not booting into stock. We have tried going into the recovery and deleting the romslot and manually deleting all safestrap data but it is like it keeps restoring itself upon reboot.
Safestrap settings flat out just don't stick.. I can boot into cm11 still which is it. If I install an app and reboot the app is gone like nothing ever happened.
I also tried wiping internal storage and it does not let me. How can I get safestrap off this SOB and return it to stock. I'm out of ideas..
turn your phone on, start safe strap and uninstall safe strap from the app and not from the app drawer/management when safe strap is uninstalled the boot to recovery should be greyed out then you reboot your phone normally it should restart on the stock rom
hope this helps
also when your friend screwed your phone up he may have lost the root explode so check phone to see if it still is rooted
cheers eggster
No this isn't working. I can't boot into stock at all to uninstall safestrap. The phone's internal storage is stuck in read only mode which is probably why everytime I factory reset it safestrap stays behind. I also can't even update the cm11 rom. It just restores the same image everytime you boot so if you install and app and restart the app is gone.
you can try flashing back JB 4.1.2 to the stock rom through fast boot and by using RSD lite which is a motorola utility tool for flashing roms
do a little research in the xda forums to use RSD lite
once you have a working rom again and rooted you can then install safe strap and run it to install cm11 4.4.2 into rom slot 1
hope this helps
cheers eggster
Any help to flash back to stock with ubuntu
any way to use sbf_flash to get back to stock JB 4.1.2? I have flashed other phones with sbf but this one needs a xml file in rsd lite. Do I just sbf flash the phone like any other droid?

You should be able to.
I would try the updated Droid Razr Utility though (has updates to SS and the last phone update). Link to the forum is here. I had problems the last muck up I did on my phone and with the older version I kept having issues with SS and other stuff like Rom Slot 1 corrupting on a boot into SS.

My problem is that the internal storage is read only. I have not had luck with sbf or the droid razr utility.
Sounds like a rsd time.

RSD works to get the phone back to stock yes.. however it does not wipe the internal storage currently stuck as READ ONLY... so after I wipe with RSD and reboot it goes right back into romslot-1 on safestrap.. where nothing can be deleted and no changes can be saved..
Hi there, i have one problem with my xt912, when I install stock rom, with rsd lit or razr blade, boots normally, has a good signal, but cant send or receive sms and calls, or if I'll receive sms, its after half an hour or such, can u guys tell me what to do? I am gsm user, and i have tried several stock roms, but same result
that's very weird... everytime I need to use RSD, it wipes completely my phone, removing SU,SS and restoring my stock JB rom. But, have you selected Stock slot on SS to boot on it? and have you mount your /system folder?
