How to disable volume rocker - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well I have a HTC inspire 4g that I got awhile ago and the volume button has started to come off eventually it did I tried glueing it but I think I might have done something wrong because it turn the volume up or down whenever it wants. I didn't even use a lot of glue... So can I wait and try to remove it or is there a app I can install or flash that I can disable the volume rocker and turn the volume up and down from the settings? Like the kindle fire original? Thanksm

[Q] Borked Atrix?

My GF Dropped her Atrix in a toilet- the screen works fine- everything seems to be okay, but the power button does not work, therefore she cannot access her phone without plugging into a charger or receiving a phone call. Any thoughts on self repairs? Anyone have similar problems? Any ways around using the power button (can i Remap power to volume or something)? Thanks.
if you install cm7 you can set it to wake on volume rockers
cheers
You can wake up the phone by using volume buttons. Just install go launcher and go screen locker. This is a simpler work around than unlocking bootloader and installing another rom

the microphone works for recording a video, not working when phone call, record a voice clip or voxer. actually on voxer, it is really low.
do I have a defective phone or some setting is not right.

Pretty much the only way I know to adjust volume for phone calls is with the rocker button on the side. So you need to be like on a call then press the rocker button and it should adjust the volume for phone calls. As far as voxer I've never used that app but know the concept maybe there's a volume setting within the app. But if you continue with these issues maybe try a factory reset and reinstall everything, or maybe you do have a defective phone.

There's also some volume control apps on the market free, maybe you could give those a try.

RAZR Maxx Broken Power Button

My Power button quit working yesterday. I am trying to remap my volume button to wake the screen, and be the new power button. I can't seem to get it to work. I am rooted and I am using root explorer to edit the text.
I have found a number of apps that will wake my screen and some of them work okay, but I have to have lock screen enabled because of my corporate email, and once the screen locks, the apps don't work.
Also, I am worried that if my phone ever get's powered down (runs out of battery), I don't know how I would turn it back on.
Any advice???

I need a physical button. I'm rooted on Gingerbread and I want to update to ics but I can't figure out how to fastboot without a physical power button
There's a few apps in the store like 'quickboot' that'll allow you to boot into fastboot if rooted. Just remember for menus like recovery, you're likely to be stuck once you need to use the power button to select an option

Send it to service to get it repaired. It's pretty cheap for repairing a single button.

Q Auto volume rocker problem...

Hi guys
I'm actually traveling and while taking a photo with my I9300 started to zoom to the max, after fighting it a while I took my picture. After done, I exited the app and the volume suddenly shot up as if I was hitting the volume + rocker continuously. I restarted the phone a few times it didn't help. The situation seems to be random. Now I had to install 3rd party app to auto fight the volume change. I'll send it back to service center when I return home, and one got any solution to disable the volume rocker completely??? While the 3rd party app is able to fight the situation is slowing the phone down!

Power Button Failure?

So, for the past few days, I've had to push the power button three times to turn the screen on. Yesterday it completely stopped working, and had to use a Viper tweak to use volume buttons as power button. Late last night it has been working so-so. Aby ideas?

This is more of a workaround than a fix, but MeanBean has the option to use the camera button to turn the screen on, to hold the home button to load the advanced power menu, and to hold the back button to turn the screen off. You can get by pretty well without ever using the actual power button.
