OK so i have been trying to do some research to find out if the "SPRINT" Version of the "HTC ONE" is going to be like all the rest of the carriers,,and i can't seem to really find anything,,For instance when the the "HTC EVO 4 G LTE" correct me if im wrong but i believe ,, the "one x" and the "one s" didn't come with external SD slots,,while the sprint version the EVO came with a SD slot,,and kickstand and camera shutter button,,,,,PLEASE!!! Tell me the sprint version is still gonna stand out from other carriers making "SPRINTS" version of the "ONE" superior.....PLEASE....lol........I'M a BIG fan of HTC since the "HERO" "EVO 4G" "3D" "EVO LTE" and have been lucky to have sprint have my Phone better then other carriers,, I'M afraid to say that if sprint jumps on the "SAMSUNG" band wagon with having just " 1" phone for all carriers the same,,I might jump to the SAMSUNG "JUST" for the fact of not having a external SD..
The external SD plays a huge roll with me,,for instance.....Some "
ROMS that i'v notice will not read external memory will synced to my pc ,where i have all my "ROMS" APK,,AND BACKUPS making me pull my sd and putting it in a sd card reader in order to do what i need to do ,,,ect......And also i dont think i would like the fact that my pictures are being saved "INTERNAL" what happens if my phone drops in the WATER or just get dropped and cracks or i get mad and throw it while on a drunken tour,,,my "PHOTOS are history,,,,,THAT WOULD SUCK!!!!!!!
IS THE "HTC ONE" with no SD card a DEAL BREAKER FOR YOU????
It might be. Depends on the alternative (gs4). If gs4 lives up to the hype then yes it's a deal breaker, if not the one is in the game. My upgrade is next month, if my wife let's me have hers

I really don't see this new HTC One as much of an upgrade. I haven't really looked at the specs, but I'm guessing that it's running the same specs as the EVO LTE, which means it'll probably have the same bugs. All you're really gaining is some nice front facing speakers and a slim package. Now there's no expandable SD slot, you're limited to 32GB and risk losing precious memories if the phone dies?!?! Ummmm... no thanks.

For me it is a deal breaker. I have about 28gb of music on my evo now. All my music was ripped at 320kb or FLAC and I am not changing that. I will run out of space without an sd slot. I don't want to go with a seperate mp3 player and phone just to store all my music. I will wait and see what the 64gb version cost if it ever comes to sprint.
I think it was a bad move to give exclusivity to ATT for the 64gb version, I think some people on other carriers will not switch because they are waiting for the 64gb version.

IM not to sure if the Chinese device dose,,,,,One thing that im wondering to is, SPRINT has not officially said that the "EVO" line is no more,,,,seems like they would of announced something to that nature,,,,,
there is no SD card on any of the models for the HTC one. anything and everything you see that may so happen to look like a slot is for the micro-sim card slot. which they are essentially making like the iphone style with a small slide out holder and you put the sim inside the tray and slide it in.
in regards to the sprint say that the evo line is still alive. i highly doubt that to be true since all the evo line phones were HTC phones. and HTC is moving to a unified platform starting with the ONE. so unless they switch the EVO line to a different brand of phone its pretty much dead.
they tried to save the EVO brand by rebranding the HTC one X as the EVO 4g LTE and look what happened there. so for all intensive purposes i consider the EVO line dead. but that doesnt mean a bad thing, i think its actually a good thing since they will now look to a unified platform for CDMA / GSM variants of phones. which means short of the baseband and GSM requirement software, all the roms should be cross carrier! just my 2 cents not sure if its accurate just hypothetical

What happened there? This phone has gotten pretty good support, better in some cases than One X itself. What exactly do you mean by "look what happened there"?
More of the decision to fragment the phone across carriers. we ended up having 3 different phones when one would have been better ( as they are doing now with the one ). I mean with one phone its easier to update and easier to maintain, fix and develop.
It would have been a better outcome I thinkip if they left the one x name and dropped their evo line naming all together

Please tell me you're trolling... You have to be trolling right now. Have you even read the specs for the device, or did you just pick it up and play with it for a few seconds and think it performed the same?
The EVO 4G LTE was a powerhouse, and the HTC One has a HUGE spec increase over it. Just because there isn't a MicroSD card slot, doesn't mean you can't use the phone. I swear, the phone's been out for like 3 days now and EVERYBODY has become an expert in mobile technology overnight to downplay the phone because it doesn't have an SD card slot. Deal with it. Store your music in the cloud. The phone was announced nearly 2 months ago, so if you're just now finding this out, you really should be paying more attention.

No LTE, no sd card slot, LG, not a very good upgrade in my opinion. Seems like manufacturers are moving backwards. I understand their reasoning for no lte, it more of a world phone that way, but definitely a backwards step in terms of missing features.

Depending on your area, T-Mobiles "4G" (HSPA+) is just as fast in the real world as LTE, especially from Sprint. Not a killer imo.
$300 superphone phone off contract? That is not moving backwards.
Personally Im not going anywhere due to this ol' contract of mine. But if they keep this up, switching to T-Mobile and $30 a month bill with a $300 superphone sounds really freaking great to me. Will have to see what it looks like next year though.

The Nexus 4 runs a quad core S4 (with Adreno 320, not our stopgap 225), 2 gigs ram, 720p RGP Stripe screen , bluetooth 4.0, USB host, and all the sensors you could want, plus built in inductive charging.
How is that not a superphone? It outspecs/ties anything on the market, certainly anything based on the S4 Plus like our EVOs, and I still consider my phone to be a superphone. If storage is such a concern, bring a thumbdrive with you for your offline media, it doesnt change the fact that the guts of the phone are the best you can find on the market shy of the Nexus 10.

Lack of an SD card isn't a deal breaker for me. I rarely store music or movies on my phone anyway.
After moving through multiple Samsung Phones and now an Evo, I'm just tired of waiting months for an OS update. I will probably switch to buying Nexus devices exclusively when my contract is up.
The fact that the unlocked Nexus is not much more than I usually pay for a subsidized phone may be the reason I switch off of Sprint.

64? You wont consider a nexus without 64gb... what do you need all that space for? Im wondering because i only use a couple gigs. I have a lot of pictures and some music that take up 90% of the couple gigs i use, i mostly stream my music and all my movies. pictures/videos dont take up much space unless you take pictures and video of everything, and you can always link a box/dropbox account to auto upload the stuff and then delete it from your sd/device. I know games take up some space but idk how much. I work too much and have a family so i dont play anything.

I defnately will for one simple reason. If you look at the quality is of my HTC evo 4g and at a phone just coming out ala nexus 4....the evo benchmarks better out the box and that's with sense. My performance is still on par with phones being released 5 months after I bought it. That's pretty good.

Not much to be hyped about compared to the DNA....camera...and screen are really all that's a upgrade to it... Show me next gen Qualcomm SoC in a Sprint device and then ill get excited!

If the next nexus phone comes to sprint then that will probably be my next and first choice. The fact that you can't take the battery out the evo 4g lte really really turns me away. I plan to give my evo 4g lte to my dad but something tells me I'm going to have to do some replacing of the battery because of how fast these batteries lose their charge after a while. That's gonna be a pain despite the how to videos. My second choice will be the S4 unless HTC gets there stuff together. Don't get me wrong, I like sprints variant of the one X but samsung is making their devices way more attractive lately. Always been a HTC fan but they haven't been coming through lately. You know sense 5 will happen on this device. Thinking this phone is gonna make the long haul. Sprint and HTC really needs to focus on a 1.5 year update policy for every device. Or maybe make it a two system update. Get 4.1-4.2, then 4.3 or next update. Or sense 4 and sense 5. Now that we arent upgrading our phones as often as we were 3 years ago, its either gonna be update to future proof the consumer investment or people will be jumping ship.

What do you guys think?
I think it could very well be the end HTC as a major player in the smartphone business if they dont market it right. It lacks a removable battery and expandable storage, something its competitors offer on their high end phones. It has some nice features but if it gets terrible battery life or doesnt perform well against the competition due to Sense 5 I do believe HTC is in trouble. Will have to wait until some reviews start coming in and I get to play with one first hand.
I don't care!! My next device is gonna be a Samsung no matter what! I'm sick of HTC and all their crap.
Still love my amaze regardless. It was the final device HTC made with everything the people wanted.

I'm still trying to figure out. Is the phone gesture based or is there capacitive buttons? I've seen 2 crappy videos that it looks like it's both.

The design/hardware is amazing! A shame that the software is already behind

I think there may be issues recovering saved data or anything on the internal memory due to lack of internal micro SD card slot knowing how HTC works with rooting and recovery ie ruu image files etc
I was sold except for poor megapixel camera and no SD card slot

The sad thing is all they had to do was listen to what consumers wanted. Release a phone with at least a 3000mah battery especially if its non-removable. 16Gb, 32Gb, and 64Gb versions WITH SD card slot. Make HTC Sense optional as in a skin overlay or theme that can be turned off with just AOSP Android running underneath so updates can come quick.

Reasons why this phone is bound to fail:
Crappy button layout
RIDICULOUS battery size for a 1080p screen... 2300mah??????
No latest version of Android
I can live with no SD card, thank God for them making 32gb standard, and non removable battery too... IF IT WAS BIGGER!
Sorry HTC

I emailed HTC asking about the possibility of an unlocked bootloader and this is the response i recieved...
We appreciate your enthusiasm for the possibilities of developing software for HTC devices. HTC is committed to assisting customers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices. However, certain models may not be unlockable due to operator restrictions. For right now, HTC One is not unlockable; nevertheless, we continue to work with our partners on this, check back often for ongoing updates about unlockable devices

Well, to some extent HTC is following apple... cast aluminum designs without changable battery or SD slot? Sounds like the successful Apple product to me. I don't own one, and never will, but much of the software games that HTC plays do not seem much different than Samsung, just a different flavor of sour. So all Android compatible manufacturers being roughly evil in my estimation on that playing field, I'll take the phone with the hardware that lasts and doesn't feel like cheap plastic junk in my hand.

So phone leaker, @evleaks said today that the HTC Zara will be coming to Sprint. And that the HTC Zara will be a mixup of the Desire series and the One series. After doing more research, the Zara is supposed to have a plastic unibody compared to the aluminum on the HTC One.
Could it be sprint's variant of the HTC One Mini? Or a new mid-range device that will behold the Evo name?
The evo line began as HTC's flagship phone for Sprint, but with them reserving the one name for that there's no telling. If they stick to their plan it may not use the evo name to help with brand recognition, but I would still be interested in it if it has expandable storage.
I also wonder if the purpose of the non-unibody design was to allow for a removable battery
Sent from my EVO using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
i dont think so with those dated specs 1gb of ram, qhd 4.5 screen, etc.
While the Zara doesn't quite seem like a step backwards from our device, it seems more like a side step. The next Evo, if there is any, MUST be a step forward, as it used to be Sprint's flagship. Anything otherwise simply wouldn't make sense.

HTC Evo 4G LTE
I don't much care if the next Sprint HTC flasgship is actually called an Evo...but for the love of android, give us back an sd card slot or at least don't be an @$$ and only give the 64gb version to one carrier.
Next Sprint EVO will have 2GB of Ram, Snapdragon 800, Gorilla Glass 4, 3500mAh removal battery, SD slot, Aluminum body, and 64gb internal memory...
...in my dreams. :crying:
