Do the new firmwares make the photos and better life better? - AT&T HTC One (M7)

I am considering rooting my device and installing the renovate rom. Has anyone tried to root and install the rom with 1.29 firmware? Is it better with battery life and photos?

[Q]Kernel?

Hi guys,
I am relatively new to android development and wasn't sure what kernel was..
My main concern is the phone's battery consumption. I've read a post about having some kernel for increased battery life. Well, to root the phone, new kernel is installed, right? does that mean I need to install a new kernel? Will installing a stock kernel remove the root?

Once you've rooted, you can remove the stock kernel.
There are three rooting methods for our phone - two involve custom kernels, one involves flashing a prerooted system images.
And yes - my kernel does have a few power management fixes (nothing extreme, but should have some improvements in battery life) with more to come.
However it's nothing compared to debloating the pile of AT&T's background services in the stock firmware...

Now that I have Stock JB.....

So far my experience with the recent update has been mediocre, Its been 2 days now for me and i'm ready to re-root my device and start tackling some of the bloatware to help improve performance or maybe installing some custom roms again(No Really this phone had better fluidity when i was running GB)....My questions is: now that i'm running stock 4.1 is the rooting process any different from when I was running stock 4.0.4?
I can't post links but on Galaxy note hacks there is a rooting guide specific to my phone...but not specific to the software version.
Thank You

That link is rather useless without explaining how to get recovery...
Op yes.
rooting jb is the same... use Odin to flash a custom recovery image.
Then use that recovery to flash zips, for root, or a completely different Rom.

Hello, recently unbrick my hard brick and this time I will be more careful and ask for help before flashing, not after.
I have D800 with stock v10o , jellybean, but I want to try lollipop.
So can anyone can provide me with treads and information about latast/safest and best overall ways to flash/root/get custom recovery?
+ also provide me with best LP roms? My goals is to have good camera and good battery life.

If you are looking for good battery life and camera, CloudyG2 would be your best bet. I know it is KK but that is my recommendation.

Any performance advantage in upgrading to OC1/Lollipop from NC5/KitKat?

My apologies if this is perceived as a dumb question. I'm currently on rooted NC5 with a the "Empty ROM" (modification of stock ROM, deodexed, minor tweaks, etc) that I have also made a few tweaks to make the ROM leaner and faster.
Now that the official Lollipop update (OC1) has been out for a few weeks, and you awesome peeps have provided with ways to keep root, run a deodexed ROM, and a few other OC1 based ROMs, I am considering flashing the update...
My question for you guys that have more experience here, is whether or not there is any noticeable performance increase by updating, or if things seem more sluggish.
Any advice or insight here is greatly appreciated.

Whatever you do, just don't take the OTA update, you will loose root.

Nothing that is noticable as far as performance goes. The main difference is the visual layout of the phone. NOT worth losing root. I found out the hard way.
eh. i feel like one of my games (super hexagon) runs better in lollipop, but i'm better @ it on pc anyway

New to Redmi Note 5: root? roms?

Hi,
I just got a fresh Redmi Note 5 (4Gb, 64Gb).
Is there any advantage to root it? I usually do it on my phones, but I don't know what are the disadvantages on this one.
Besides, is there a good custom rom for stability and battery life, or the stock rom is better?
Thanks in advance for your kind advices!
No problems at all, if follow proper guidelines to root, custom roms are much better even got pie roms with latest gcam support,
Only bad thing is unlocking bootloader is still a big hassle, its butter smooth after that. ?
