Hi guys,
My X10 Mini (rooted), when powered on, continuously restarts when it reaches the screen with the Sony Ericsson roundel. For those of you who have looked at my posts before about switching phones and transferring app data, this phone's screwing up is the main reason for those threads and thank you to those who answered.
For now, can anyone help me with this restarting problem? And btw pressing the home button and the power button doesn't help either, it just restarts the phone and continues this annoying restarting cycle.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

You have a so called bootloop. Do you have a custom kernel on it? Can you enter the recovery mode?
If all those are answered with "no" then you can choose from flashing a custom kernel with CWM recovery and flashing a custom ROM (if you have unlocked your bootloader) or if you have the stock kernel on it then simply repair it with SEUS (you loose user data either way)

You've only rooted your phone i think, so xrecovery is not available on your phone. But it would be the white sony ericsson letters (kernel logo) where you would press the back-button.
Not sure either if you managed to save your data, but i would suggest a repair with SUS or PC Companion. that will destroy your data but probably restore your phone to working order.
I may have a different option that 'might' keep your user-data, but i can't make any promise on that, since i didn't try it myself. Download. It's original SE 2.1.1.A.0.6 firmware that's flashable using Flashtool. I took out the userdata.sin, so the data partition 'should' remain untouched, preserving your userdata, but as said, i don't guarantee that.
(If you use flashtool, make sure you delete x10blrelock.ftf from the firmwares subfolder in order to avoid mistakes and brick your phone even further)

Thanks for your replies. SmG67, if you have tried and tested your flashtool method, is it possible if you could tell me about it when it works? Your help is very much appreciated. grungevil84, thanks for your instructions, but they do not seem to work.
Any further help would be appreciated.

What the Sony Update Service normally does when repairing firmware, is flash the original and latest available software for your phone. This consists of the original bootloader, the original kernel, the original baseband, the original 'over the air' update mechanism (which you don't need since SE doesn't do updates for our phones anymore), the original system and the original userdata ( this includes various bloatware that came bundled with the phone ).
It's the quickest and easiest way to reset your phone to it's original factory state, but since it overwrites everything on the phone you will lose any apps, customization or data you may have stored (this does NOT include data on the sd-card, which remains untouched by the process).
What I did in that Download link i gave you, is remove the things you wouldn't want, like the over-the-air updater bits and the userdata bits. What this means is that the /data partition 'should' remain untouched when applying that package using flashtool.
If your earlier attempts to rescue your data were succesful, then there is no danger in flashing it, since it gives you a fresh firmware state that should solve your bootloop problems. You can always root your phone afterwards and restore your backed-up userdata again.
In case you didn't manage to backup your data earlier, then this is the probably the least destructive of all the options you have, since 'in theory' it won't touch your data-partition.
I usually use the full version for people who have bricked their phone and need it back to factory defaults (that included me at some point too). It is flashable on a phone with a locked bootloader, since it's all original SE firmware.
There are only two things that could go wrong as far as I can see:
First: It may still destroy your data, although in theory it shouldn't.
Second: Your bootloop may be caused by corrupted settings that are stored on your data-partition and you may still get a bootloop after flashing. In that case i can give you the full version too, which will restore your phone back to original factory-state.
To use it install flashtool (first post in x10 mini dev section, second in x10 mini pro dev)
Go into the /firmwares subfolder and delete x10blrelock.ftf
Place the downloaded .ftf file in there
Start flashtool
Click the button with the lightning-bolt on it in flashtool
Choose flash-mode
Select the firmware package
Press ok and wait till it's done
Keep your fingers crossed and reboot your phone

That's the theory yes
Normally, .ftf files are used to flash custom kernels, and the rest of your internal memory remains untouched in that process. So in theory, flashtool shouldn't touch anything that is not in the .ftf package, and since i removed the userdata part that should remain as it is now.
But then, for all the 'logic' that's inherent in computers, things are not always 'logical' for us analog beings

This is the download link, the file is called x10mini (E10i)_2.1.1.A.0.6_LNO.ftf and it's about 208Mb large.
Look up the folder where you installed Flashtool, and in that folder is a subfolder called /firmwares. Put the downloaded file in there (and while you're at it, delete x10blrelock.ftf)
Then start flashtool and press the button with the lightning-bolt on it, choose flashmode and select the package (There's only one choice, so that should be easy enough)
In the box to the right it will list the contents of that package, it should have loader.sin, kernel.sin, system.sin and about three others. Press the ok-button and when it asks to connect your phone, plug in the usb-cable and press home-and powerbuttons together so the phone restarts. It should enter flashmode automatically.
Good luck
Hi SmG67, thank you very much for your help. I will try out your instructions when I find the time. If you ever test it, can you let me know?
Thanks

Didn't you made a backup with xrec? Restore if you did. If not, install again 2.1 rom. You can find tft files in the first post of Flashtool thread.
About J's CM7, maybe the zip is in the rar file. Just extract it.

I backed up with titanium root,
Yeh, i'll try that
TY
Btw, how do you flash baseband 52?
Its needed for J's CM7 rom.
I can find firmware stuff, but i dont know exactly how to make a .ftf thing.
OK, titanium backup is not the same. It makes backup of apps, not the whole rom.
You can slash firm .504, it comes with bb 52.
Download the tft, put it in /firmware forlder of flashtool (on the computer). Then start fashtool, connect x10 and hit Flash button, choose the tft file and go on.

wow... this is wrong information/ some of it anyway.
first.... 435. comes with .54bb not 52. second. be more helpful and not give links he has to chase around....
flash tool is very easy to use once you have it installed... if you still have recovery dont flash a fresh install of a 2.1 your wasting time.
if revoery works. download the winrar program for the cwm file that you want to install. its like winzip slightly differnet. it will then give you the flashable zip you want. most likely it is named updat.zip. put that on your sd card.
if you need the .52bb yes it is included in the folder with the rom. it is in tft format already... drop that into the firmware folder where you have flashtool located. then simply click on flash.. it will show the .52 files there will be several.
if they are not there... click on the advanced tab and scroll to bottom where it says bundle creation click on it and find the tft file you inserted into the firmware folder and when it opens the window up. drag all files from left to right and name the open spots at the top right. when done flash.
after that... reboot into recovery locate your zipfile for cm7 and let it install. voila your done
My bad. .504 is with bb 52. Thanks for correction.

there was no need to be rude...
also. i saw that you posted link for flashtool.... but if he had recovery which it seemed like he did state in first post. i thought i would make it a little easier on him if that was true.

Hey guys, my eng is fine.
Regarding CM7,
it doesnt seem to have any signal or phoning abilities
no mac, or bluetooth address or anything.
:/
SOmetimes with random reboots.
EDIT:
I have all basic copies of roms and i have access to recovery, SO I AM NOT A NOOBIE THANKU!
I appreciated your correction about the firm. Thats alright. In his second post, he said that he got only a backup from TB, not from xrec. That's why I told him to flash new 2.1.
The way you are explaining the other things is even harder for me to understand what you are trying to say. (And beleave me I understand allot of Android and X10) So for him maybe will be harder to understand about all that zips and stuff.
Me not trying to be rude neither. Lets see if we helped the guy or we got him confused

G-face... wasnt trying to be rude to you either with same comment
Jinglejo, good to know that your not a noob. might be a little easier to help you out beings it looks like you know whats up with your x10...
if i was to break it down in steps 1234....
1. Recovery works.... thats good
2. unrar the cwm file that you downloaded.
the tft files for bb .52 are included
3. take that file and drop it into firmware
4. open flashtool and click on advanced.... scroll down to bundle creation...
locate the file... is should read x10_52_changebaseband
5.once selected. a new window wil pop up. the files will be in .sin format now....
highlight all and drag to the box on the right.... top three boxes have to be filled in..
6.select ok and wait for files to be ready.
7. when done. click on flash...select firmware .52... hit ok..... wait till you are prompted to connect in flash mod... then connect and wait.
8. when done, reboot and wait for signal to appear..
9. once you have signal, reboot into recovery.
10. clear dalvik-cache, battery stats.
11. install your cm7 from J.
12. let us now if any of this works for you.
Im not confused, its just it says the baseband is unknown
So do i flash in the baseband 52?
J only gave us this bunch of .sin files and
Rendeiro gave a broken link to baseband 52.ftf that does not download properly.
Can you find me a link for it or tell me how to bunch up these .sin files to form a .ftf file?

yes flash in the bb .52.
locate the .sin files from where you have them stored and go to advanced and do bundle creation.
i was being stupid when i said it was in tft format ( my apologies) they are in .sin
once you have done a bundle creation it turns it into a tft then when you choose the file from flashtool. it shows them again as .sin
flash this and you should be good to go with radio

im not sure if that rom coms with devtools installed or not...
however if it does... open it up go to bad behavior. and click on crash system server...
if not... you may have to go with G's option and start fresh with a new install..
in that case if you have to do that... right after flashing the 435 firmware... root it, install recovery, power down... flash bb 52 then install the rom.
after that it should work fine without problems

Hi Y'all Thanks in advance for useful advice.
Yesterday I attempted to root my Xperia Ray with this method:

Unfortunately I ended up with just the sony ericsson boot screen coming up then going off and coming up again and so on. I think I've just about cleared the phone of everything.
any help mucho appreciated.
Have you tried using SEUS (Sony Ericsson update service) to flash the original firmware back on it?
Sent from my ST18i using xda premium
You could start with trying to just reflash the firmware with flashtool.
- How to use flashtool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
- Firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316070
Btw, If you only want to root (you were trying to unlock the bootloader), use this after the firmware is restored: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320350
Thank you i'll try this later...
3.Install Recovery, Busybox, custom kernels
4.Clean your Rom (remove /system/apps apps of your choice) (Be careful, unless you really know what you do, do not modify the default list. This can make your phone stuck at the SE Logo)
I didn't do 3. but I've cetrtainly done 4.. I do not have anything installed so there's nothing to "catch" any new ROM's.
Is my line of reasoning correct? If so surely there must be some way around this and one of you stars must know.

this thing happens when u try to root the phone or when u have flashed the new firmware?
if is after u flashed is because you unfortunately you must wipe user data
It happened after I rooted the phonem and trying to flash software.
I am not concerned about user data, though thanks for your concern.
What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it?

That's one of the reasons why I felt limited when it comes to customizing the Ray.
I honestly wouldn't go for MIUI either because it's more Apple than Android.
With the release of ICS imminent, cyanogen will be focusing on making their version of it. I wonder what will happen to current cyanogen release. Will it be ever completed?

so this happened when i try to apply this mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306044 and after i carelessly copied framework-res.apk to system/framework using root explorer without setting the correct permissions, my phone automatically shuts off and try to restart but it failed, it stucked on the big sony ericsson logo and 'sony ericsson' text.
i have pull out the battery hundred times and try to reboot my phone normally but it didnt worked it still stucked on the sony ericsson logo.
so can anyone help me please...
what tools/application should i get to fix this?
first of all, i dont want to wipe/lose/factory reset my phone memory data because that would make my phone contacts gone which i never ever want to happen. so please is it possible to backup my contacts somewhere else if wiping is the answer at least??
okay i took a lot of time to type this and hoping someone give me an answer
Hi, what is your model no? and you rooted it?
Sent from my ST15i using xda premium
i use sk17i mini pro as mentioned above and yes it is obviously rooted
Congratulations, you have felt the power of customizing Android for the first
Actually, one way to fix this now, is to get back to fully stock firmware.
The second way would be to unlock bootloader, install a custom kernel, enter recovery and use Fix Permissions option. Unfortunately, not all Recoveries have this, only some versions of ClockworkMod Recovery. I have used many kernels on my LWW and only some of these included this option and I can't remember which one had, which not.

If contacts is too important for you and you have no backups, then go for the 2nd way - Unlock bootloader and install a custom kernel, which offers the Fix Permissions option.
I will check the Update Service, if Repair option will erase user data or not, currently updating my phone.
EDIT: Yes, removes all data.

If you can access flashmode, then your okay. Just flash stock firmware.
Will check Flashtool option.
Yep, you're correct, Flashtool has option to not wipe user data.

this will do? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
or maybe i should try what this guy says?
"Follow this guide External rooting guide but in steps 5 and 12 instead of "rootxperia.zip" use "mini_mod_v1.8.zip". Once you have phone fully booted I suggest to install CWM recovery mode (you probably don't have it now) - CWM installation file - run install-cwm1.cmd and follow the onscreen instructions. Then you will be able to enter CWM recovery via volume down button during booting."

Actually, i think you could've salvaged your phone without the need of flashing it... If you had access to CWM, you could've put framework file into zip file and flash it with CWM. It helped me once when i got stuck in bootloop after failed installation of a mod

its very easy to recover your phone if you got bootloop or stuck at sony ericsson logo. dont sweat.
first of all you need a stock .ftf firmware downloaded. any .ftf stock firmware .58/62/42 or whatever as long as it is stock.
then download and install flashtool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351309
then put your downloaded .ftf firmware at c:/program files/flashtool/firmwares/"your downloaded .ftf firmware"
then open flashtool and click on the lightning icon. and choose flashmode.
then press volume down button, while you do that connect your phone to pc using usb then flash the firmwares. then boom your phone back to life

I think that is a bootloop problem , you can try this method. It helps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4nfePh0KQc&feature=plcp
I also had this same problem when installing hybrom v17 with lock bootloader and stock kernel. It helped me a lot. Hit thanks if I helped
So... I realize there's multiple threads of people asking help on unbricking in general, but I accidentally re-locked the bootloader before flashing a stock kernel.
... Is this phone now a lost cause?

If you're on gingerbread or lower than you should be able to unlock it again with flashtool, as far as i'm aware. Try a stock firmware flashable with flashtool, there should be some available in the x10mini pro development section of this forum.

I hope you meant to say flashtool, and not fastboot? our phones don't support fastboot. Always choose flashmode...
The Plugins drop-down should be empty because the ROM you're on is unsupported for the unlock-plugin.
However, you should be able to flash the stock kernel, Hold on...
This should be flashable with flashtool. I can't guarantee that it will make your phone work properly, but it will give you back the stock kernel, and possible enable you to unlock your bootloader again, or at least enable you to flash the other firmware you had lying around...

The same thing happened to my xperia mini pro (U20a) when trying to update through SEUS and the software in the pc (PC companion) crashed by performing an illegal operation(Now it is no longer recognized by seus). This result my phone turning into a brick with only a big triangle with ! mark and a phone's picture was displayed on the screen when it turned on. I have never rooted the phone or installed Xrecovery/busybox (learned about them from this forum threads only). So I was anxiously following this thread and installed Flashtool and downloaded the ftf file (220MB) specified in this thread. Then voila, the flash was successful with this and the phone switched on. Now the second level of problem starts. None of the keys ( even the power key) or touch screen responds once the phone boots up.However the SIM is responding to the incoming calls (although cannot receive them as the touch screen is not operational). The battery is 100% charged and sim signal is 100% with sd card successfully mounted . Every time I need to remove the battery to switch it off. The display is now showing current date time (in a blue background) and a lock(left) and speaker (right) icons. Everything is stalled here. Downloaded two more firmwares and bundled them(sin files) in flash tool, but none worked except this fft file.
Please help
PS I have attached the flash tool log file for this flash.
To both of you: Try Repair with PC Companion.
1. Leave the phone unplugged
2. Start PC Companion
3. Choose Support Zone
4. Choose Update
5. It can find no update because your phone is unplugged
6. Click the Repair-link it shows
7. Follow the instructions from there on.
Hope that works, if not: Download this and flash with flashtool.
Thanx for the quick reply.
I have started the pc companion and go to the repair option. However after selecting the model from the list, it started updating. Then BANG!! Again the program performed an illegal operation and shutdown by the window XP.. The entire PC screen hanged and I had to manually kill it by pressing ALT+Ctrl+Del . So it seems this method will not work in my laptop.
Downloading your FTF file and trying it in flash tool. Hope it will work.:crying:
PS: your link is now pointing to the zip file and I have tried the UK version of that already ( by building the ftf from sin files in flash tool) with no improvement. Can you give a ftf file directly like the last one ? Thanx in advance.

Did you remove the other one you flashed earlier?
Not sure what's going wrong there, it should show up...
You did restart flashtool?
If you are still there
I removed and reinstalled the flash tool. Followed the procedure discussed so far. Still it is not showing in the list.Screen shot attached. The U20 option which is showing is for your earlier ftf file (kernel_locked) and not the renamed one (however if I bundle the sin files and create the ftf by specifying build number, version etc..) it is showing. However , flushing with that made no improvement. It took sometime to respond as I was trying these.

My bandwidth for this month has ended. However I still have night unlimited facility. So I will download it at night. One more thing, when the download is handled by firefox, the file size is showing as 120 MB but in Internet Download manager, it is 213MB. What is the actual size ?
Good evening lads and lasses,
I've encountered a rather unusual issue. I am currently running CM11 4.4.2 by Munjeni on my Sola, but that's not the main focus of my problem.
Here's the story:
My girlfriend's brother needed a phone ASAP, just for a few days. I was using an iPhone at the time (yes, I know), so I was like, sure, he could have it for the time being. When I got it back, I noticed PC Companion was unable to detect any supported firmware on the phone, and could not restore or update anything (I was on the .10 ROM at the time, with .54 available). Flashtool has given me the following error ever since:
Error in processHeader: 1 : Incorrect Function
(On pretty much all versions of FlashTool, since 9.8.0)
I've verified that all of the correct drivers have been installed, and flashing kernels with fastboot still works fine. I can't flash the original ICS or GB ROMs though, and I'm stumped. I love CM, but if I buy an other phone, I want to either restore and sell this one, or restore it for use as a 2nd phone when that happens.
So, any ideas on how to proceed? It seems flashtool is out of the question to get these FTFs back on my Sola.
Extra info:
Tested on Windows 7 x64 and Windows Server 2008R2
Could be the firmware file is corrupted, try to verify with 7-Zip or other compression utility.
If you have used PC Companion with your phone before you can start repair, that will load the files and does not require the phone to be connected at all.
Once download is complete, and PCC ask you to connect in flash mode, stop it and build FTF with flashtool.

Reporting back:
I have been unable to restore my phone with the PC Companion. After some research, it has become clear that I can't restore using PCC, since my bootloader is unlocked, which isn't relockable at this point. Are there other ways to restore the phone without any existing backups? I haven't gotten around to backup the phone before it was ruined in this particular way.
The firmware files are solid, by the way.
I'd like to point this out:
Flashtool is out of the question, and so is PCC. Both programs refuse to flash this phone. Internal flashing with CWM works perfectly.

Where in my post have I said restore with PCC?
Read what I wrote carefully, follow those steps to build your own FTF to flash with flashtool.
As I've said, it is only valid if you have used the phone with PCC before and it does not neet it to be connected to repair it.
EDIT: BTW which file fails the flash with flashtool?

How is making an FTF from my current firmware going to help me? I don't want a backup of my current firmware, since I'm on Cyanogenmod.
I'll dig into it deeper, to see if I missed something, then.
Any FTF I try to flash fails with the error mentioned before:
Error in processHeader: 1 : Incorrect Function
I have been unable to bypass this error, thus have I been unable to restore using FTF files.
EDIT:
My phone can't do the things mentioned in the links for the following reasons:
I can't back up using PCC because I'm not on Sony firmware (I can't flash that, that's why this topic exists), so I can't make am FTF based on that.
I can't make my own FTF because it requires a locked bootloader. Mine is unlocked and can't be relocked currently, as far as I'm aware, which is an important requirement for that guide.
Hopefully you understand which problems I'm facing. I'm 99% stuck now, since neither PCC nor Flashtool appear to be working for me. The Sony Update Service doesn't support the Xperia Sola so that's a no too.
Have you flashed with flashtool with the PC you are using now and the same OS?
Open flashtool, connect phone in flash mode, see if it stays connected for about 45 seconds.

Sorry for the late reply. I've been rather busy this week,
It does stay in flash mode for 45 seconds, yes. The PC in question is the same as when I performed the first attempt back in the day (this occured a few months ago), not the same OS though. However, I have tested this on my laptop with Windows 7, as well as my desktop with Server 2008R2, but both yield the same results.
Any thoughts? Should I try that dinosaur called Winblows XP? Or would you suggest something else?
Thanks in advance.

So it seems there no problem with flash mode drivers.
Now open PCC, click start under support zone. click start under update phone/tablet software, click repair, continue untill if finish downloading files, exit, build FTF as described in one of the links, your files are ready, start from there.

Now open PCC, click start under support zone. click start under update phone/tablet software, click repair, continue untill if finish downloading files, exit, build FTF as described in one of the links, your files are ready, start from there.

I can't update/restore with PCC. It gives me an error that there is no software available, so it won't even bother to download files to create an FTF from. In order to use PCC, I need to have stock or stock based firmware on the phone. As soon as I attempt to flash a stock kernel + stock ROM using fastboot.exe on my pc, and CWM on the phone itself, I end up with a bricked device.
I'll try this once more once I get the chance, later today, to see if I can dig up some other results.
I suppose this is a tough one you don't see very often, here on XDA

Yes I did. If I check the blob_fs folder, I only get icon files, with a maximum file size of 10KB. It doesn't download anything when I follow your guide. When I remove the folder, it simply redownloads the images, but not the files required for the FTF.
As a reminder concerning the SEUS: No Sola support, at all, so no firmwares from there either.

Once I click repair, I get a ****load (pardon my French) of dialog boxes with check boxes to make sure I agree to continue with the repair. When that is done, it starts preparing the phone (not even selected which one) firmware, after I select the Xperia Sola, nothing happens. It just asks me to connect the phone.

Well you have said you have used it before with this phone, case which it su\ould ask you if to repair the phone you have used with it before or choose another. and if you choose phone you have used before it would download the files without asking to connect it.
I am guessing it would refuse to repair phone with unlocked bootloader, but have you connected the phone in flash mode?

Why would I connect it in flash mode? (And yes, it did show up, and I did select it, but that didn't change anything) Still, I have connected it in flash mode before, and all it says is: Nope, unsupported phone and such. I'll have to reboot to Winblows again and see what I can dig up...

Such an annoyance that I can't post external links, and the fact that all my software is Dutch, so I can only provide crappy translations of the errors I receive
I connected the phone is flash mode, I received an error that boils down to the following:
"The phone contains modified software which cannot be updated" and that's where the adventure with PCC ends.

Yes, that because the unlocked bootloader, you can try and see if there is a way to relock it, make sure it's a proven one.
Did you back up your ta before unlocking bootloader?

Boy do I feel like a moron. I tried the 32-bit version of Flashtool, just for the heck of it, and I successfully flashed the stock .54 ROM. It is booting as we speak. I have no clue why Flashtool64 would behave differently to regular 32-bit Flashtool, but well, my phone is back on stock, with unlocked bootloader.
Thanks for your help to this point. I will definitely give you a big thumbs up for your suggestions
Interesting, might be drivers issue.
