A relative of mine uses Samsung Galaxy S Duos which runs on Android 4.0.4. Recently, a very curious problem has come up. The dialler shows a red "1" as it would when there is one unseen call log. This happens all the time, even when there is no unread notification or even where there are multiple, it just keeps showing 1 unseen call log. I tried deleting the entire call log, re-starting the phone and clearing all data of the Phone app. Nothing worked. It's really irksome. Please suggest a way that doesn't include factory reset or flash.

Hi, I've a problem... The icon that indicates the number of missed calls in phone notification widget always a missed call even if I empty the call log, and even if I receive more calls. I tried to restart but the problem is not solved. How can I fix this without formatting? Please help me! thanks ...
Try deleting it from your home screen then put the app back again, this has worked for me on other android devices.

Struggling with a recent problem.
Using omega 43.3... I've no idea if that is the problem or not, but can't remember it happening before that (was omega 30ish before)
When I receive an SMS (using Handcent as default), the notification shows and if I click on it, it takes me to the Handcent threaded screen. However, if I then close that and it opens the default window (with all the contacts sms listed) it isn't there. If I then close Handcent, and then reopen it, it is?!
The same thing is happening with Call Log... Missed calls etc aren't showing when I access them from the dropdown menu... unless I then close the Call Log app and then go back into it.
I've tried various kernels and modems, and also tried reinstalling handcent, wiping cache/dalvic, fixing permissions etc. Nothing seems to make a difference. Currently on stock modem and kernel

Sorted it. Installed Ultimarom.
call log, messages, viber... not showing new events
I had this problem on JB 4.3 stock samsung sm-n7505 and after zillion read pages about it and rebooting and removing battery and sim and after I deleted entire contact list (by mistake) it turned out that it was the most idiotic problem you can ever think of.
While was in the tight pocket phone unlocked somehow(using pattern) and simply unchecked box (which is deep in the menu) "use network provided time/date" and date was set to a date 5 days earlier. So, all logs and messages were actually in the phone(I could see them in notifications and could send messages and calls), only I did not see them because they were back in the list in the place of 5 days ago. I just checked the damn box and everything was normal again(except my contact list (( ) Crazy. Hope my small contribution will help somebody. Rock on!!!! :good:
Suddenly, my phone has decided to block ALL calls, even from my favorite contacts and voicemail. I just cannot receive incoming calls. The notification shows "Missed call from (blocked) [contact name or phone number]." The [contact name or phone number] part shows the name of the contact or phone number that is being blocked.
EDIT: Outgoing calls work just fine.
I have disabled blocked/black lists on the phone app, removed any restrictions from Hangouts/Voice and any other apps that interfere with the phone functions. I have restarted the phone and restored the phone app from Titanium. I have frozen/uninstalled any third party apps that provide calling/texting functions, such as voice, hangouts, talkatone, etc. I have even cleared cache and removed default app options from phone/contacts.
This problem suddenly started and I just cannot figure out what may be causing this problem. When I search online, it shows listings of apps that block calls, etc., but nothing that addresses my problem.
I am an advanced user - I have root on my current phone (Galaxy s3 with 4.4.2), and have installed custom roms on previous phones (an old Charge, s2, S3), etc. I am not a newbie, so, PLEASE answer my issue without condescension - THANK YOU.
I do not want to factory reset my phone - any ideas about what might be causing this problem and how to resolve it?
Phone info: Galaxy s3 with 4.4.2, rooted, on Verizon (I535).
Thanks.
Verizon tier 2 tech not helping
Tier 2 tech hasn't helped at all!
My only thought would be that what ever file that handled blocked calls got corrupted, and it wasn't removed when you uninstalled it. The only thing that might help is reflashing the rom. Now I never advise a dirty flash due to issues that can come of it but as you don't want to factory reset then it might be an option.
As you are not a noob my suggestion would be to format just the system partition, and reflash. Or you could just reflash. Either way is not 100%
Verizon thinks it might be a SIM card problem. So, I'll replace it and see how that works. If not, a bloody re-flash it will be.
Any other ideas in the meantime?
Thanks.
Hello Android community!
As the title says, I am having some issues with notifications on my Samsung Galaxy S6 edge.
The version I use, is Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, G925FXXU4DPGW and the model number is SM-G925F.
The problem is this:
Whenever I receive a notification from certain apps, it shows the pop-up window like normally, however, the notification does not stick in the notifications drawer, so, if I am not using the phone at the the time, I don't know if I received any new notifications, plus, there is not any notification sound either, and the phone just randomly vibrates from time to time, even when the screen is on, and sometimes without any pop-up window.
This is happening with Facebook, YouTube, and almost every downloaded app I have, but it is not happening with messages and phone calls. Whenever I receive a message or a phone call, the phone rings and vibrates like it should and I see the messages at the notification drawer but not the phone calls.
Any idea on how this happened and how to solve it? I still haven't tried a hard reset but I would like to avoid it and don't know if it will work either.
Please help me and sorry about my english but it is not my first language.
Thank you
Hi All - I'm really hoping to get some ideas from the forum on this issue as it's been plaguing me for a while and I can't figure it out.
I have a Rooted Samsung S8+ on Nougat 7.0 which root was achieved flashing Partcyborg ROM through Odin. It's commonly used method for those that don't have S8+, the bootloader is locked though.
That being said my issue isn't with the rom / root method, it's with Google Dialer and the Stock Samsung Contacts / Phone application. For some reason I think the Call History backup is corrupt or something like that because no matter if it's an incoming or an outgoing call, my call history and recents menu in either application is blank. For example, if someone called me right now and I didn't answer, I'd see the call in the history as the only call but by the end of the day, or after a restart of the phone... My phone will show no recent calls and provide no record of call history for that call.
Even more strange, I do show a record of calls but they are 14-15 records of calls at random dates, I want to say the most recent is from April. No matter what, they always stay. DOesn't matter if data is cleared, cache is cleared, dalvik-cache wiped, preferences reset, app defaults reset, install/reinstall, install diff versions, change permissions, this happens.
I used SQLlite Browser to go into the database and the DB does show the records I talked about earlier, the 14-15 calls. I've even tried deleting the database in hopes that maybe it'd reset itself. Nope.
This behavior is persistent across device resets, it also occurs when I completely remove Google Dialer Framework and Google Dialer altogether. Im at a loss and trying not to get back to stock.
Any ideas as to where to dig further?
