Hello readers, I'm running JB 4.1.2 MIUI v5 3.4.19 on my phone. Everything is perfect, but the camera quality is awful–the one thing that gets to me the most!
EDIT: I have tried pushing the Gallery2.apk to my system apps, but it only force closed, and I dont think apps in general has anything to do with the camera profiles/performances.
So, I was wondering if it is possible to port a camera's profiles/source, etc. from another ROM (eg. CM 10.1 camera) to the one I'm using now? If it IS possible, how would I be able to do it? Thanks!
UPDATE 10.10pm: I found a solution to my problem, if anyone is interested. I flashed a camera mod from another forum in the Android Development section. When I looked in the file, there were only two lib files in the system that –I am guessing–solved my problem.

Hi all,
Some camera applications like google goggles is now showing images upside down. I am using the rom from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446774.
Anyone having this same problem? Is there a solution for this?
Thanks in advance!
Sorry still a newbie, can't post on development thread.
Regards.
Yes, this is some sorta bug with these devices.
Btw, with Google talk, on the receiving end the image appears right side up, even though it is upside down for you.
I have just noticed this problem. It seems to be affecting some camera apps but not all. Not much clue on the cause of the problem. e.g. Camera Zoom FX, Angel Camera and the default camera seems to work but Vignette doesn't.
yes also mytubo and google+ hangouts.. i wish someone can fix this and also the compass

The rom you are using is essentially stock plus a custom kernel. Let me backtrack and see if this is due to the use of the custom kernel. If yes, it is probably a driver problem and we can report to the kernel thread.
It also sometimes appear with Skype on my device, with the back camera (yp-GB70 with GB.KRKPH). I thought it had something to do with rotation of the screen?
Just retry stock rom (XXKPF), the image is also upside down in some apps. Anybody else have similar problem on stock rom? If it happens only in some apps, I suspect that it is much likely that it is a problem of the app.
When I google about this kind of problem, I can see many apps often have up-side down image on their bug list (fixed or not fixed) for different kinds of devices.

Hey, just messing with google+, and I can't find anywhere to start a hangout! Help?
Ah, nvm, I see you need to be over 18 to use hangout.
(Why did I ever tell google my real age?? Epic facepalm!)
I had the same problem. But with the latest update via kies, the problem disappears. Even with a custom rom. For example, I 'm using rj's kernel, and with the latest stock rom, the upside down camera problem is gone.

Does anyone have any idea exactly what could be deleted from the stock rooted 2.3.6 Rogers ROM. I want to get rid of as much MOTO and other bloat as possible. I have found with other phones that when you start deleting systems apps it can really mess with the phones operation overall.
Minor example would be my deleting the stock gallery in favour of Quick Pic. When in the camera app you can't view the pic from the thumbnail. It looks only for the gallery app. Minor. I've already deleted all the Rogers crap. I just want to get it as basic as possible without having to flash a custom ROM.

Hi everyone,
I am coming from Viper and trying out CM9 for the first time. I just flashed CyanogenMod 9 Unofficial Build and wanted to see if I could flash the fully working Google Now on it?
I tried other CM9's in the mega thread but I seem to like this one the best.
Also, I am not liking the camera app on the CM9 ROMS. Its like 2/3 of the screen is taken up but the shoot button. Is there any other camera app I can flash. I REALLY liked the sense camera app, any way to get that?
Thanks....
Using one of the ArmV7 versions in the Google Now Project thread in the Android Apps section should work fine, make a back up first just in case.
You can't get the Sense camera on AOSP, but you can use third party cameras in the Play Store.
I want to use Cyanogen or Slimbean etc. but I frigging hate the Camera app and I really hate the clock app too. I really don't want to use an official rom for my phone but I really cannot part with those apps.
Is there anyway I can use something like Titanium Backup to save the .apk and just overwrite it over the Cyanogen/Slimbean one instead?
I can't stress how badly I need to do this, it's the deal-breaker of Cyanogen.. I've never tried it before but I don't want to waste a couple of hours flashing and revamping to find that I can't do it.. :/
Has anyone tried? I can't find another thread over it... just on the HTC camera app.

AFAIK you can't. The camera app on Stock rom is a touchwiz based app. Won't be compatible with CM
What if I move touchwiz with me? You mean the launcher right, or is that something different completely :/ is there really no way to even try and get it working as a beta? I mean it's leagues ahead of Cyanogen's Camera app and I take so many pictures with my phone... I really miss those options.
Touchwiz is not just the launcher. Its the name of the software framework running on the phone (android x.x + all the other stuff including the interface, camera, messaging apps etc. Since the camera app is part of that, it's impossible to port it to for example cyanogenmod.
You should just wait for android 4.2 to be ported to the s3. As far as i have seen the camera works great with many options !
hi, im new
i rooted my s3 a while ago and now i want to install cm 10.1. i only find guides to install it from stock, is it a problem that i rooted it?
2nd question: how many fps can i record with the cm10.1 camera? i want to record as many as possible (for slowmotion videos)

1st question, flash from recovery. See Guides and FAQ's in the "Roll-up sticky thread" in general. If you have no knowledge, you need to read as much as possible before flashing, to understand. The more you know now, the easier to resolve problems if you do something wrong.
The AOSP camera in cm10.1 is light and fast with a lot settings missing compared to the touchwiz stock camera. When taking pictures or videos is your main purpose then I guess you have to look for third party apps or consider staying stock.
