I have lgnpst and stock image id like to flash. But I cannot get on irc to grab them. Can someone link me or help me to a place to get the dll? Lgnpst wants that file I think, at least before I flash. I guess I only have components 2.0 and 3.0, can't obtain the others aswell. Unless I don't need them? Either way I keep getting kicked out of irc for some reason before I can enter the room.

I pretty much give up on this, and it's not all that important, but it's bugging me.
How do you, or even CAN you, dump the radio/modem from this device? The best I've been able to do is scour the web and end up with a 512KB .bin file that essentially contains nothing but 0xFF bytes in it.
(If context is required, I'm learning how to make an ODIN image from a device ... and so far this is the only partition that's really killing me)
Just download one of the complete Odin tar files and use something like winrar to extract all the bin files from it.

you cant dump the modem...its like the only thing that cant be....if making a full odin package, pack in one of our existing ones

That's what I figured, since it seems to be something you can't do with the Epic either. Do we know if it's because of CDMA? Something that needs to be secured from dumping perhaps? Meh, doesn't matter
Thanks guys!
***Sorry i meant GTALK not gmail. sorry for the confusion**
anyone have the newest gtalk with Video chat apk?
wanna get it on my buddy phone. And please only apk and not flash file cause he is not rooted.
Thanks fellas
Nothing Really?
Bump.
Just download any room with it in it. Open the room zip and copy the gtalk file, it will be in /system/app you won't be able to install it if he isn't rooted I don't believe. You can give it a shot though.

i have been doing some research and it doesn't look like there's a way to do it without root.
That's why i brought it over to xda, there has to be a way!

How did you get that to write to /system on an unrooted device? Just curious maybe I can learn something, knowing how linda file manager writes to a locked partition would be very helpful.

There is a thread somewhere on xda with the gtalk apk and its associated .so library file. In the morning when I'm on a computer I'll link you too it or upload them.

Thanks guys the other poster said he could do this without root. The OP stated he wanted an apk because he was trying to install on a non rooted device. These methods all require root, I was just curious how somebody was writing to system without root.

You can't use the new gtalk without root because you need its associated files and those files have to be placed in system folders and the only way to read/write system folders is with root. The apk alone won't work. Especially because it needs to placed in /system/app, not /data/app

damn thats a bummer
So I've pulled apart an SBF file, and I can see the contents inside, but I'm not seeing a boot.img or anything I can play with, trying to see about putting a different kernel into it. Anyone have any ideas? Figured I'd try my hand at it though it isn't going so well. Haha.

What are you using to dissemble it? I saw an app somewhere that would pull it appart, but not really into anything that is useful.
But they layout of the file should be well known since we have a linux version of rsd (sbf_flash)
That being said, it shouldn't be impossible to rip apart one and put it back together.
apparently sbf_flash supports a -x param which will extract the contents of the SBF.
Basically I am trying to change the kernel. And replace it. And I will let you know what the program is called next time I get on the comp.

The software is sbf depacker. The thing is you'd have to hex edit the kernel into the file. I think in the process of extracting you lose the headers rendering it useless after you repack it.
I can't seem to edit the files with said program. So I can't test it sadly.

When you unpack the sbf files with unpacker, you will get a bunch of smg files. When you try to hex edit these smg files, you will lose the vital header info. So I don't know how you would be able to just write in a kernel, repack, and have it work. I have the files already unpacked if someone wants me to upload it, it's more than 2 gb though.
No worries Man. I have it unpacked too. The problem I have is I don't know how to edit the SMG files. You said hex edit, but I'm not totally certain how to do that. To be honest, I figured I'd try my hand at this for ****s and grins, but I'm not totally sure what I'm doing, so any input is appreciated.

I came across this and I thought it would be cool to do. I have been trying to work on this but but I am getting an error when trying to recompile the program. I am putting it here to see if anyone else can have success with it? It does look cool and I think it would be a great add in for some roms we have here!
1. I have decompiled the rom
2. I did the settings changes that were directed
I am a noob to all of this stuff. This is my first decompile apk project and I do not know what I am doing lol.
I see that there are files to download but the guide does not tell us where to place that.
3. when trying to recompile on step 7/8 I get errors that it does not there is no resources and then it fails.
My question is do you think this is possible with our phone? Does anyone want to give it a try. I actually have a Milestone x2 running 2.3.6. But I wanted to see if this worked for Droid x2 as well. Please let me know I would greatly appreciate it!
Good lord now I have something to do in my spare time! I'm gonna give this a shot and report my results. Might be a few days though, semester is ending.
I'm not entirely sure why you are getting errors when recompiling. It would be nice if I could actually mess around on your pc to figure it out but that's obviously not an option. Lol

lol, I think this might be really neat! Let me know what you come up with. I am very new to this whole thing so it might be something I am doing or something that is written that I might be missing or skipping.
I didn't actually click the link you provided (to tired and lazy atm ), but I'm assuming your using either APK Manager or APK Multi-Tool (I highly recommend Multi-Tool as it's the new APK Manager and the dev keeps it up to date)
Usually if your getting an error like that while trying to compile it's due to missing or out of date APKTool files. Google "APKTool" it should be your first link.
Make sure you have these files up to date and stored correctly (Windows directory)
Also make sure APK Multi-Tool is up to date (version 1.0.2)
Hope this helps.
OK I honestly can't figure these out can someone please help me out with a flash able zip that I can put an app into (titanium backup) and two files that would replace ones in /system/media/audio/ui. I have been trying to use random flashables emptying them and putting my files in but it never works so I'd love to just have someone give me one I can simply drop my files into.
