[Q] Radio control - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Does anyone know if there is any way to control the radio on the AT&T one? I know AT&T is famous for not letting you control anything to do with the radio no idea why but I would like to be able to force my radio to 2g/3g/lte etc...
If I flash the international rom do I get radio control?
TIA!

Surprisingly with the stock ATT rom I was able to toggle between bands. Dial *#*#4636#*#*, pick Phone information, scroll down to the preferred network type drop-down.
If you install an international ROM these settings are usually present under Settings, Mobile Data, Network Mode (at least on ARHD it is).

[Q] *#*#4636#*#* Phone Info App/widget?

Would it be possible to create an app/widget in order to get to these settings more quickly? I know I shouldn't have to, but I'm finding that in order to stay on LTE, I need to toggle having just LTE turned on and not LTE/evdo. With WiMax phones, there was built in functionality to turn on only that radio since it was a separate radio from the 3g. It would be nice to be able to quickly toggle between only LTE and full mobile network.
I'm no programmer, so I wouldn't even know where to begin with this, but this would be some much appreciated functionality - not sure if anyone has even thought about doing anything like this or not.
Are you stock or running a custom ROM? Some roms (like viper4g) have a toggle in quick settings called Network Mode that lets you switch between cdma only and lte/cdma...is that what you're looking for?
Sent from my EVO LTE
I'm rooted running Mean 4.8. I know that I can switch between CDMA and CDMA/LTE, but if i go into dialer and hit *#*#4636#*#* and then go to Phone Information, you actually have the ability to turn on LTE only (no 3g).
I thought maybe setting this number with speed dial would be a quick fix that would cut out some of the steps, but it actually dials and then places the call, and I need something that just dials but does not place the call.
There's an app called network in playstore. It allows u to switch between whatever u want, LTE only, cdma only, cdma gsm LTE, cdma LTE, gsm & wcdma.
Has every combo/isolation u can ever want.

This is perfect! EXACTLY what I was looking for! I knew I couldn't have been the first person to think of it. It doesn't show anything like the images on Google Play show, but it opens directly into the Phone Information screen that I get to from dialing the code, with the ability to change my network on the fly.
Thanks a ton!
It's built into Viper Tweaks

Most likely. Nothing in the playstore says anything about needing to be rooted, and the *#*#4636#*#* command has nothing to do with root. You can go to the dialer and type that in to get to the Phone Info screen from stock.

Rezound Global RUU in South Korea

I brought my Verizon rezound to south korea in hopes of using it. It was unmodified, only OTA ICS update, S-On etc. I put on the Global RUU from androidpolice, but only ran it one time. (I read that sometimes this phone needs flashed twice, does that apply to firmware updates like the Global RUU too?) Anyway, got a Korean carrier, KT Olleh, and put in the SIM card. I have fully functional calling and texting in and out, but cannot get a data signal. I have the APN set correctly to alwayson.ktfwing.com. Any ideas where to start gentleman? I am a bit of a noob, but I'll try anything if I have the right instruction! Thank you!
Are you on stock global or on another rom ?

I know but im just asking if he changed roms or if he stayed on stock global. If he changed roms it can causes no data if you flash a non-global rom unless you use a GSM patch. As for getting data one time i put a GSM sim in my phone and it took a while before i got any data and i was on a global rom. Also make sure your data type is set to either Global or GSM/UMTS in mobile network settings.
Sometimes you need to enable roaming as well however I would make sure that you are supposed to be roaming.
Yes stock
Yes, I am on the stock Global. No other modifications. Just tried setting to GSM/UMTS instead of Global mode and still no data. Restarted the phone for good measure, nothing. Turned on Roaming, reset, nothing. Someone else suggested that the rezound may not have the radio for the data frequency band here, but I thought I read that it had 2100Mhz. The carriers network information is as follows:
Supported Frequencies
The mobile phone must support 3G WCDMA 2100 MHz frequencies. Note that CDMA mobile phones are not compatible, as they are different from WCDMA phones.
That is from the KT Olleh website. I'm stumped why its not coming on.

hidden settings?
I can't get to the hidden settings menu on ICS with the 4636 trick. I can't find anyway into that menu for the ICS OTA release rom. I really want to try the WCDMA setting too, being as that is what the carrier claims to be on. ... Any other way into that menu on the newer releases? I tried the "Hidden Settings" app but couldn't get into anything.

You can try a different rom, almost all sense 3.6 roms are global based, Newts one XxX is sense 4.1 global, and any CM9 rom is global. I know you can get into the mobile hidden settings on newts rom if you go into suite tools.
Thank you

I put cyanogenmod and now i dont have 3g.

Hello. I have an unlocked i717 and i have Claro Argentina.
In stock rom, i puted *#2263# and changed gsm to 850/1900 and worked fine.
Now in cyanogen 10.0 i have no 3g, no internet.
I have tried putting *#2263# and it doesnt work anymore.
I have tried chaging apn and, doesn't work anyway.
What can i do ? How can i acces to the same panel that i entered before with *#2263# to change bands?
Thanks
APN must be input exactly the same as the previous APN.
Also, it must be saved prior to leaving the setup screen, or it will be lost.
If the APN is correct, your signal will return ...g
I know that. Apn is ok.
Also in standard rom i DIDN'T have 3g until i change bands to gps 850 /1900 by the *#2263# mode (with same APN), problem is that now with cyanogenmode that *#2263# dont work anymore, and i cant change bands to 850/1900.
UODATE: If i put "Use only 2g networks" works fine.
Your input code is obviously a carrier function...
And if your current rom will not support the code change, then the obvious choice would be a return to the previous rom.
I dont know what rom you had before, but if manual entry of the APN fails, and the carrier code fails also,
You are likely missing the associated RIL's that accompany the radio baseband.
And in order to restore the radio interface libraries, you will need to restore your previous build, (it contains the RIL's)...
Or use a compatible, NON-AOSP build.
Cyanogenmod does not contain the libraries that were issued in your stock rom .....g

Sory im new to android, and i dont understand very well.
I know that the input code is a carrier function, what i don't really understand if why i i put automatic mode internet doesnt work. By the way, internet doesnt work but the icon of "3g" and "h" is there...
I know that i can return to the previous rom, but i would prefer to have android 4.1, default version is 4.0.4, and i also like cyanogen futures.
My before rom, was the samsung rom ATT, original.
I don't know whar RIL's are.
What is an NON-AOSP build?
Is there anyway i can use cyanogenmod ? If not, is there any other rom (non default) that i can use?
Thanks
AOSP stands for "android open source project "...
It is pure android software , that lacks the "skin" or theme that is applied from Samsung.
It also means that some dependent software may also be missing. RIL's for example...
Ril's ...or radio interface libraries, are carrier added software that allow your radio..(transmitter chip) to communicate with your network , or other networks around the world.
And if they are missing, will break function with their respective carriers.
My first impression was that you are missing these files that are present in a stock rom, but not present in an AOSP build.
And that is a possible cause for your data issues.
But your saying that you do see the 3g, and H icons ??
This tells me that your device does see the network, but takes us back again to the APN settings, or the RIL'S..
Having voice service, but no data, would indicate a bad APN....but you said it's correct, and I believe you.
Of course, you have data enabled ??
I'm not doubting ....just making sure.
3g and H icons are a good sign....but the carrier is not seeing the device on the data side..
And this can be caused by a number of issues.
APN's and Ril's ....
Then we move to much more in depth causes..like device ID numbers missing, and carrier lockouts.
I don't think we are at those levels, and feel that we need to test the rom theory.
If you are willing to revert to the factory rom, we can then verify your current rom as the issue. And if the problem persists...we look deeper.
If the stock rom fixes the problem ....we'll find a suitable rom that won't break functionality for you ....g
Edit: very late here , and I'll be logged off for tonight, but will be back in the morning and continue to help you if needed...g

In fact, "3g" and H icons are showed. There were also showed in stock rom and i had the same problem before changing gsm bands by putting the code. (3g icon but not internet). When putting the code and selecting first option (auto), 3g still doesnt worked, i had to change to manual select of gsm 850/1900.
Thats why i think there is a band problem. Because is exactly the same problem that i have now with cyanoged, that the one i haved with default rom before selecting manually 850/1900. Problem here, is i think cyanogen doesn't have an option to select manually the bands.
APN im sure is fine, cause i have checked all, (that was also the first i do in stock rom).
About devices ID number, once, when i pluged the phone to the pc, win 7 says that "the id number of the hardware was wrong" or something like that. I reinstalled drivers, and problem solved, i don't know if could be something of that.... (i still don't think so, because in stock version i had the same problem, as i have written).
I know that stock rom will work (only if i put manually the gsm bands).
So what should i do? Reset to factory rom and loose cyanogen ? (I prefer cyanogen, but if there is no solution to my problem....),
Thanks
PD: Also like i said, if i select 2g network only, icon shows "E", and i have internet.
Settings/wireless and networks/more/mobile network.....
You will find the manual network switch for cyanogenmod.
We have it for ATT also, but the network restricts us so it won't work. But should work for you.
I'm running CM9.1.0 stable ...
Also ....your radio baseband should not have changed by flashing cm, as the rom does not contain the radio image.
I would not flash a different radio image, as yours hasn't changed ....g
Yesterday night i have tried again with stock rom,
I noticed that in gsm 850/1900 shows "E" = 2g, the sane as cyanogen, If i change to wcdma 1900, it shows 4g and doesnt work, SOOO, i put another SIM of other company, and works perfectly fine in 4g.I ve called today to my company, and they told me that there was a problem with the antenna.
Finally, there was no problem in the cellphone, and i can use cyanogenmod, unique problem is beacuse of CLARO that is a fu****** ****.
Thank you
Glad to hear the good news ....
Happy flashing ....g
Yeah, lots of places use the 850 band. Especially where towers are far apart. Low frequency waves travel farther. Is Voda or Orange an option?

[Q] Convert rooted phone to media player/wifi only.

Hi.
I have a rooted VZW Droid RAZR Maxx and I would like to convert it into a "ipod-touch" style device. It is important to me to disable the CDMA, LTE and GSM radios, and render the device unable to be used as a phone. I'd also like to remove the "Missing SIM" warnings.
My preference would also be to have it still be able to use the Google Play store to install apps.
Thanks.
just remove the sim card and put it in aero mode.

It still will dial 911.
This is being given to a small child, and we do not want to take any chances with it being able to make a call to emergency services. She's already used the emergency dialler of other phones and thinks it's fun.
Aren't there packages that can be removed to eliminate support for the wireless radios?
Try call blockers from playstore, maybe this will help

Try *#*#4636#*#* go to phone info and turn off radio. Then you can use profiles to add some additional restrictions...then test and you should be good.

This works, but if you turn on Airplane mode, then turn it off, the radio turns back on (at least on my Sprint Galaxy Nexus). I was hoping that there was a way (app, rom, etc.) to permanently disable the cell radio.

Sprint google voice integration alternative to svlte? or dialer code for lte

I have never used google voice before. I know that Sprint has a google voice integration. Is there a way to use the google voice integration to avoid being disconected from lte when a call comes in?
If not possible is there a setting in the dialer code that would enable lte to stay on and avoid calls temporarily?
If anyone is interested I found the way to have uninterupted data while on lte. I used an app in the play store named "lte settings". I use it to set the radio to lte only. The only drawback is that no calls or sms or able to get through while it is in this mode. it is easy to switch back and forth. I use it if I am downloading or using tether and do not want a call to disconnect me.

This application looks pointless. You can just as easily access this menu by going into your phone and pressing *#*#4636#*#*. This allows you to change the phone to LTE Only, CDMA + LTE/EVDO, etc. It also lets you force your phone to search on a given frequency, such as Cellular, PCS, or Secondary 800 MHz.
Just for the record, the Sprint version will NEVER be able to do SVLTE or SVDO. Don't ask. It simply cannot be done unless you use VoIP software. The hardware on the Sprint version cannot do more than one type of connection, as in either it has LTE, CDMA or EVDO.

No secret codes work for verizon stock so that app is far from pointless...
Those of us in a new aws area would want to change to lte only to test it out or if we needed it data only.
