1st of all I like to say im such a noob that I only have the basic knowledge to switch my phone on and little else so pleeeeeease be gentle.
I have a galaxy s GT-I9000
firmware 2.3.3
baseband version I9000Wjv2
kernal version 2.6.35-I9000XWjVH-CL184813
GINGERBREAD.XWJVH
I want to root the phone to except IC or JELLY BEAN
Ive tried to search but alot of threads are v/old or have broken links to things I need to download.
Can anyone help a total novice?

Go to the thread for your device o have a galaxy s to and I have looked at the forum for your device and there 50+ plus step by step noob guides on getting onto jellybean. And calling yourself a noob is not a excuse

I have a samsung galaxy s2 i777 directly new from att and also updated to their latests software which is Androids 2.3.6 Basebad I777UKK6 Kernal 2.6.35.7 if you need more info let me know I just want to be able to install games i download off the net on it nothing more. How do I root this phone version to do so?? Also how safe is it the last captivate i owned got bricked but fixed I just don't want to brick this new beautfiul phone for a 5 dollar game. Any Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Also step by step videos or fourm threads are the easiest for me hence a Noob, but im trying to learn. But Ill take whatever info you can give me thanks again!

Method 2c is what you are looking for. By the way, this is a sticky in the general forum.
1. Rooting is not firmware dependent, the method to root is almost the same across firmware
2. Installing games does not require rooting.

Please Help. I installed this jelly bean test version file "I9100XXLSJ_I9100OXXLS1_OXX.zip" on my galaxy s2 i777 using odin 3.0 and now my phone has changed to I9100 and asking me to unlock and home button is not working . how to rollback to ICS of SGH I777? please help me on this. As i am new to android dont know the basic terminologies like flash, factory setting etc, whoever is writing to me please write in detail that would really solve my problem.

I need some help with rooting my sII, New to rooting and I need to know if it's safe to do,
currently running:
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: I9100UHLPH
Build number: IMM76D.WBLP5
I've looked around the net, havent found anything about rooting this version/build number combination.
Your help will be greatly appreciated
You don't need no combination. Search on how to root ICS. Hint: "si%@h k&^n&1".

Thanks , Yeah I wasn't sure because searching for how to root the SII I saw pages like, "how to root XXLQ5" So i was wondering if baseband versions or build numbers have different ways of going about rooting them

No ROM recomendations, rules man (+ common sense, we cannot know what moves you when it cones to ROMs).

I have an S3 I9300 which im trying to root. But it just keeps getting bricked.
I have used CF-Root for the international version but im not sure what the problem is anymore.
I am fairly new to android development so I apologies if I missed a thread with a similar topic.
Can someone please help me??
Note: I have searched this forum and the threads giving solutions dont work for me! I have the stock ROM so I just keep bricking and unbricking it all day long trying different things.
