What he means is to use a different program as your homescreen. Like apex launcher which you can find on the play store. However your problem actually is that when you installed CM10.1 all your apps where on your internal sdcard and CM10.1 defaults to your external if you have one. You have to change some line in the build.prop to sdcard0 instead of sdcard1. I'll go into more statistics later but have to work right now.

Ok thanks! I am looking a free launchers 'Go Launcher EX' and'Apex Launcher'. I will try to reinstall one later.
I did not change any source code. I was playing with manage apps trying to conserve battery... and they disappeared. but I turned everything back on and they're gonzo.
Go back to work dude! Thanks !

i installed the 'Go Luancher EX' and now the button in the play store says installed (instead of install). But I cannot find it. And I still have no icons.Theonly way I can find some apps (not all), is to use the google search at the top of the home screen.

When you managed apps, did you move any apps to the SD card?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
not that I am aware of...
when I click on manage apps in the
SD card: is poweramp and viper android fx
running: settings, poweramp, viper, dsp manager, keyboard
all: big list...
I did click "reset app preferences"... didn't do anything
When you lost your apps, did you just flash CM10.1?

a couple of days later... I noticed that the battery was drainin quckly and asked for help in the forum. They said to use manage apps.So I did that to disable some apps and then it happened. But since then I re-enabled them and rebooted and still have never go ttem back.

When you disable an app, it no longer shows up on your homescreen, and you can only do that for system apps or apps flashed in the ROM you installed. Is there any other information as I am trying to diagnose your problem
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
Any way to turn one of those back on? I guess buy disabling it then it does not appear in the "ALL" section of the manage apps? Oups
I can go into the file manager and navigate to the SD card. I find the CM 10.1 zip file but when I click on it to reinstall it says "There is no application registered to handle the type of file selected". I guess I used to have something that could install directly from a zip file....
I don't mind reinstalling cm10.1 if that would fix it... but how?
i rebooting into recovery mode and I'm reinstalling CM10.1... see if that helps
I installed cm10.1 and gapps... its still the same
success... I was looking at the apps and I know trebuchet is the default launcher. I took a chance and clicked on the clear data.... and then all the icons came back...weird eh? wooohooo! thanks everyone for your help

Stock 16gb here.
I got it installed
I now have two market apps installed. It did not override the tablet market. Also, I don't have access to the movies section.
I tried it and uninstalled it within a minute or so. Obviously not optimized for tablets. will wait for official release.
Agree...looks good on the cell. Not so much on tablet. But it is working..

yea I have a feeling this is the same apk for both the mobile and tablet because it works better on my TB than my GT 10.1
even then, it is alot slower compared to the previous market so idk if this is worth it just yet
Damn...i broke my market. I uninstalled the new one...old one seemed to work until i try to install an app or load my apps. Then i get a com.Google.android.finsky force close. Ideas anyone?
Edit: a data wipe and restart fixed the issue.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
yes data are not the same so have to clear it before installing the new one or after uninstalling it.
finsky is FC for me
I screwed up my market by installing then uninstalling this and wiping market data in settings and a reboot didn't fix the issue.
Market runs but when I click on the "My Apps" in the upper right I get a FC.
Can anyone send me the market vending files I need to push to my Tab's system/app folder to help me fix?
(and yes I know I am an idiot by not doing a Titanium Backup of Market before installing the new one).

See post #7 - Should do the trick.
Thanks for trying this out and reporting back, guys. I installed it on my Nexus S without issue but decided not to pull the trigger on my tab.
Looks great on MT4G. I will wait to install on my GT10.1
This may be a dumb question But I am new to the Nook Tablet and the Android world (I still have a flip-phone) and could use some help.
I am rooted (Thanks Indirect and albertwertz! There is a special place in the afterlife for those who help others!) and I chose Honeycomb launcher.
I would like to try other launchers but do not know if I have to re-root in order to do so or can I install another and just change to that?
Any advice on the best launcher would be appreciated also. I know this is subjective but I appreciate your opinion.
And one more question. If I re-root and have purchase apps from the Android Market and Amazon can I re-download them without paying or can i back them up (I have Titanium Backup) and restore them.
Thanks for any replies, All help is appreciated!
Once you are rooted, you will stay rooted unless you unroot yourself or are unrooted by an OTA update. So yes, you can try other launchers. And anything you purchase through Google or Amazon can be redownloaded at no charge as long as you are signed in with the same account.

To install another launcher just install the apk or go to the Market and install one through there.
To get rid of Honeycomb Launcher, just go to the Android Market > My Apps and click on HCL Launcher and then Uninstall.
I recommend ADW Ex launcher, it's by far my favorite of all and really has amazing customization potential. A great out-of-the-box launcher is Go Launcher EX, which may be good for you until you get a hang of things.
Just to show what I've accomplished with ADW Ex, check this out.
Hi, I can't seem to uninstall Go Launcher Ex as I'd like to stick with ADW. Does anyone know how to do that? I get an error when I try to do it.

Do you mean through the Android Market? If so, yes, and it says it is uninstalled, but then it can be selected through the home button interface again and is still there.

goex.apk is in system/app -- i dont have an /app folder in data
That's why it's not uninstalling from the market. System apps don't work that way. You can delete it from /system/app.

I'd just use ES File Explorer, but you have to make sure you mount the system as read-write first.

Installed Cerberus app and the first day it worked pretty nice with both GPS tracking and commando to the Prime.
When i tried it again today, i can't get a connection, so i thought i should check out the settings.
But then there is the next problem. I have hidden it from the drawer (earlier command) so i wont find it. I tried uninstalling it from market, but it's been saying 'uninstalling' the last 15 minutes.
Anyone?
Do you have Titanium backup?? Uninstall it from there, should work
Tried to uninstall twice by using Titanium, then installing it from market. Not working, can't open it as i could, the first time i downloaded the app.
Seems like some data is not deleted when wiped/uninstalled.

I'm not sure if the device admin # is the same for all devices but mine is 23723787. (You can change it to whatever you want) Dial that number in the dialer and the app will pop up if its hidden from your app drawer, there's gotta be an uninstall option
I don't have a Dialer on the prime? Or am I completely wrong?

Haha that's a very valid point, I have it on my GNex...Ya know, sometimes I forget which sub-forum I'm on sorry for the absent-minded comment lol.
Have you tried locating it in a file manager app like "root explorer," and deleting it that way?
I don't know what really happened just now, but i could all of a sudden uninstall and install straight from Market. Must have been a delay on deleting the files with Titanium. Thanks alot. It's up and running, ready to catch some thiefs!

Just for future reference: from their web app (where you can send commands to your device) two of the commands are to hide from app drawer and to put it back.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
I know that. My first problem was that i couldn't get a connection - therefore i were going to re-install it.
Just clear the data of your application and open up the Application again from drawer. Once you open it. it will ask again for the login.
Use your username/password and the goto the setting and hit status. it will disable the admin. now again try uninstalling the app.
This works for me, Hopefully it will help
Thanks
You'll have to make Cerberus a non-administrator. Go into settings under Security and un-check the application. This will allow you to uninstall from the app section as any normal program.
Hi,
Could anyone tell me where a stock galaxy s 3 app would be installed to please?
The reason i ask is because an app i am using (six axis controller) installed itself to /data/data/ instead of sdcard/data/
Is the latter the location of which apps on stock roms are installed?
Because i am using foxhound 1.3 and my apps are all installed to /data/data/ making touch profiles for the six axis app, impossible to use, because they are saved to and imported from sdcard/data/com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller the app would need root access to get there, unfortunately it doesn't.
All my apps are up to date and are legit versions, all paid for.
This all might sound confusing and i hope it doesn't.
Any knowledge about the whereabouts of where apps or parts of apps are installed to on stock roms would be a great help.
Many thanks.
System apps are in /system/app
All other apps should be in /data/app.

Thanks for all the replies, the problem i've got is, all my apps are being installed to /data/data/ and the six axis app needs it to be installed in sdcard/data/ apparently i'm all alone in this.
I've tried omega, foxhound and android revolution.
All do the same thing.
Yet everyone talks about the app being installed to sdcard/data/
Whenever i point the app to that location it force closes.
Really annoying.
No worries buddy, my advice would be to flash back to original ics (LG8) then root (I use CF-ROOT 6.4) and see if you're still having trouble after that buddy

hmmm.. try using Link2SD , open the Menu using menu button -> Settings -> Install location -> change from "Automatic" to "Internal"
hopefully, the directory for installation will change into sdcard/Android/data :good::laugh:
OK so after trying everything I could think of, I went with mega wipe which killed off the internal SD card and everthing in it including data, so now everything works perfect

Ok, so I wanted to make guide how to move apps, even user apps like facebook, viber, etc. to external memory (sd card). I never saw anyone using this, so I want to share you this method with you guys.
For doing this, you need to have :
Rooted Galaxy Ace (right, nothing else)
PROCEDURE :
1. Go to Play Store and download Titanium Backup
2. Allow Superuser to work with this app
3. When you get in Titanium Backup, press menu on your phone, and go to batch actions
4. When you get to batch actions, go to 4th section which is called move/integrate
5. Select Move user apps to the SD card (that will also include non-user apps like games, etc.) and press run
6. Select apps you wanna move or you can just select all and press RUN with green tick.
7. Wait for it to move apps and you're good to go
Hope this helped guys..
Thanks for sharing this mate!!!
