The New Boston is pretty popular and has been mentioned a lot. one that I have found useful is TwistedEquations, its newer than The New Boston and goes over fragments for tablet design.

The do other stuff by now too, like nodejs. Also watch out for channel 9. Plus.. Visual Studio is free (Community Edition) for very small companies/individuals.
Thenewboston somehow seems not to be working anymore?! At least the site looks strange.

Is there an Android app that is comparable to RadarScope (for iOS)? The closest that I've found is PYKL3 Radar, but it absolutely sucks by comparison. If anyone knows of anything similar that'd be awesome.
+1 I'd really like to see something like that on android apple doesn't deserve greatness like that anyway
Search found some:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.radar&feature=search_result
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tinyvital.wxr.pro&feature=search_result

I've tried both of those and they pale in comparison to RadarScope.

I emailed the developer and got this response: "Thanks, Tim. We're considering an Android release." Sounds like there is hope at least!

While we wait for a (possible) RadarScope Android release, you might want to check out Radar Alive! Pro. I was not impressed with the demo, but the full version actually works very well and the interface is much more responsive than PYKL3 Radar. It's definitely a good app.
I know that there are a ton of online tutorials and info, but I like something I can hold in my hand. I basically have to write a (fairly basic) Android app for part of my senior design project, and I need to start from scratch. I'm a computer engineer, so I'm fairly familiar with coding and the such as well.

If you already familiar with other coding, I would recommend the following book by CommonWare
The Busy Coder's Guide to Android Development

As per title, this book is really for busy coder It is well written.
`There is an apk of portal floating around. It is a proof of concept and in russian, but it is pretty awesome. I look forward to Valve actually developing for the Android platform.

Can't. It's warez and can't be posted on XDA. However if you spend 3 minutes on google you'll find it.
I found tons of links but none work, after being downloaded they all say package not parsed or whatever.
I found it pretty easily. The one I tried worked fine. I fell through the floor of the elevator, and couldn't do anything. Haha. Seemed pretty cool though. Tough to use two analog thumb sticks on the screen.

Any akward permissions taken by this app? I'm suspicious about warez from especially Russia.

Old but still an interesting read
http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/259568/20111201/carrier-iq-spyware-company-s-android-app.htm
omg
Thats soooo olddd omg. There is an app called carrier iq to tell if u if you have it. Most of providers have removed and almost every single custom rom has it removed. Dude this article is form december 2011.
That's old news. Like, really old. Look at the date on the article. Verizon doesn't use CIQ on any of it's devices. It may use something else, but so far we don't know of anything, so any claims otherwise are just FUD.
Edit: ninja'd

here's a good read on the subject.
http://www.theverge.com/2012/5/8/30...cy-officer-magnolia-mobley-culture-of-privacy
as stated by other memebers, IQ has been removed from most newer devices or has been changed to collect data anonymously
yeah i noticed it was old but just thought it was an interesting read... shouldnt of put the title that way but never the less its interesting.
i guess the cool thing is that developers can find these things since android is an open platform. If you were running an iPhone chances are you could never know!

yep, well the manufacture knew about it. the users didnt and thats one thing that sparked the quest to remove it.
android devs will always find a way to make the platform better. iOS devs are just happy with what they have

Hi there!
I've just registered, nice to meet you all
I've came up with a concept of new type of "keyboard" for touchscreen devices (target: mobile phones), the tests went really great, and I am now patenting it. I would like to see your opinions or ideas.
Since I'm new here, Im not allowed to post links, please search "swipewheel" in youtube.
Thanks!
Best regards, Jacek.
Looks great. I want to test it.

Nice to meet you, as well.
If the production of your wheel is as slick as your video, we are all in for a treat.
Can't wait to try it out.
How do you tell the difference between backspace and caps lock? At a quick glance, they both look like counter-clockwise circles within the wheel.
This looks very interesting and intuitive, looking forward to getting my hands on this and taking it for a spin.
AWSM WORK!!!
one hell of a concept... gr8 work dev... looking forward to it...dis definitely needs a portal mention after its launch...
:good:
sounds interesting, but the website is down.
Very cool concept and the core idea is great. I felt like some of the other rules may become difficult to learn and weren't as intuitive as the initial demo so, if your goal is getting users to try it out, I'd suggest keeping your demo a little more concise.
Unique idea though, love the thought process.
That's the most interesting thing I ever seen

Sorry but I am not aware Apple patent. I will be glad if you can share....
and patenting is out of main subject but I'll add last few things as OP has already shared his wish for patenting...
Big companies patents concept not only to apply it to their design, but more importantly to keep new concepts away from their competitors...

I'm not sure if you understood that I was just making a sarcastic comment about how Apple wouldn't need another keyboard because they think their's is the best in the world.

Very cool looking. I don't usually try new keyboards, but yours looks extremely interesting. I think the link to your website on the YouTube page is misspelled. it shows swipewhel, instead of swipewheel.com. look forward to trying your keyboard out.

Looks interesting. I'd be interested to test it out as well.
Does it also take multitouch to swipe out letters twice as fast? Since you can already resize the circle already =]
I'd be very interested to try it out and happy to test
