I had a back up and flashed it then changed some apps the tried to flash meanbean back and it would not flash it or anything else. im not sure on the ruu but my hboot is 1.12 if that helps. when I try to power down it says I have no root install su.
Do you still have custom recovery? If so, do you still have the su zip you flashed when first rooting?

A backup of...? Changed what apps and where? That sounds pretty irrelevant. How would it "not flash"? You would know if you RUU'd back to stock or not. You're also making it sound like you were S-OFF and now you're S-ON all of the sudden? That would be the result of an RUU route. Not sure why anything would prompt about being root or not while powering down a device.

the backup was a factory nandroid I done when first rooted my device. im sure I was s off but now it is s on. the prompt about not being rooted was when im in twrp and trying to go to bootloader or power it off. I just want to get a rom back on it but it fails everytime and tells me im not rooted.

S-OFF only goes back to S-ON through RUU. So I don't think you were S-OFF but then again I know nothing of that HBOOT version. Just download the latest CWM/SU, put it in storage, flash it, reboot to ensure root was gained and then try installing MB again.

Unless you manually toggled the security flag back to s-on, I'm pretty sure there is no way to go from s-off to s-on. Not even RUU (other than Viperuu) revert you to s-on.

Let's get you back up and running then. First Downgrade TWRP to 2.3.3. Then flash this rom.
This is just to get you back to a rom. We'll see what to upgrade from there.

So i was kinda scared but i knew this day would come, VZW is pushing a update to all rezounds with H-boot 2.11. Concitering we dont have S-off yet this usually wouldnt be a problem but H-boot 2.11 breaks temp root. I have been using it for a while and it fails to push SU.
Just a warning so no one gets stuck without root
What about the people who are fully unlocked with perm root ? What happens if we run the update
Update failed in recovery for me. I've deleted some bloat though.

As far as I can tell, the update will not run. I let it download to my Rezound and then it auto-restarted after 3 minutes. Booted into recovery and said update failed. I rebooted from recovery and once booted up, I got a message saying "No new software update available" or something to that effect. Clicked "Finish" and since then, my phone has been working like before. From what I just experienced, there is no harm to your phone if you let it try to install, but nothing will happen either, so there is no benefit.

I am rather new... I'm not entirely sure:
1) How to get stock recovery back, haha.
2) If I even want to get it back. If HBoot is updated by this OTA, I don't know that I want it running and screwing up my root. Is that possible if I am unlocked and perm-rooted?
To be clear, I am willing to experiment for your guys' benefit, but would just like to be sure what I am getting myself into.

If that is the case then we could get root back and get back on cusom recovery, hopefully someone who has accepted the OTA will see if they can unlock it.

i think you need to be on stock recovery to the update to take.

OK, well I can't do anything here from work, so when I get settled at home later tonight, I will see what I can do. I don't mind losing root until someone can figure out a workaround for those stuck with 2.11 hboot, mainly because a custom ROM is the only benefit I use from root at the moment. I can't figure out tethering to my Transformer Prime for the time-being anyhow, so losing Nils' ROM is a hit I'm willing to take for a bit.
If someone else does not figure out what you need before later tonight, I will do what I can.
By the way, it would help if you set up some steps for me. Like, do you want me to restore stock recovery, then check to see if stock recovery and custom ROM lets me install the update, then if it doesn't work, go back to stock everything and see if it works, then if it doesn't work go to relocked and see if it works? Just lay out each operation you want me to do to test your theories. I know far too little to be making up my own procedures. Inevitably, I'll finish and people will say, "Well, what about... and what about..."
I just don't want to waste my time or yours.

Damn guys... sorry about that.
I'm interested in getting the latest OTA update and attempt to S-Off. I am currently unlocked via HTCDev, on the old GB firmware, and running CleanROM DE.
How do I go about doing this? I've searched the forum and attempted to relock for a couple of hours now with no success. Can someone please give me some instructions on what I need to do? From what I've read, it would be better to get the latest OTA before attempting S-Off. Is that right?
I am no expert, but I believe if you made a back up of the stock Rom, you could just restore it, then s-off. It would be easier to s-off, then you could ruu the newest update, and install a custom recovery after that. Like I said, I am no expert.

Have you thought about following these directions?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696394&highlight=stock+rom+recovery
They worked for me.
Those are the instructions I was following. It says you must be on a stock gingerbread ROM or the 3.14.605.5 ICS Leak niether of which i am on so I guess that was my issue. It would get stuck after the first reboot and tell me to check device manager for adb or hboot drivers. I'm fairly certain I have all the drivers installed so it must be the rom I'm on. Thats why I was trying to figure out how to get back to stock.

Ok, then it must not be the ROM. It has to be a problem with the drivers. I even uninstalled the drivers I had and installed them directly from the tool. Any ideas?

To RUU, you need to lock the bootloader first, you DO rename it to ph98img.zip and then flash in hboot.
I s-offed by just flashing the stock, rooted version of the RUU first...I didn't have to lock! I'll look for a link. :good:

Update your twrp to 2.3.3.0 or if you want to return to stock you have to relock your bootloader

TWRP won't take the update for whatever reason, and I can't get fastboot to work over this machine, so I'm thinking about running linux to get into the phone a little easier (hopefully.) I either have to wait til I can use my roommates machine, or start installing a dual boot
Have you tried goomanager to update twrp?
Yea, it downloads the file, gives a message stating it has been installed, then it does nothing. No reboot. when I manually reboot into recovery, it still sits at previous version.
Do you have adb setup on your PC? Also do you have the correct drivers installed ?

Ok, so finally got my fastboot to work

Well since you are s-on you can't flash PJ75IMG files from bootloader if you want to update your phone to the latest OTA you have to relock your bootloader and reflash the stock recovery and take the OTA then unlock and flash twrp again.

you are welcome.
Remember that for the ruu to work you need to relock the bootloader and have stock recovery. and unroot. it works with S-OFF so no need to S-ON

Bootloader lock only needed for s-on.

I'm not 100% sure.. but ,I always re-lock the bootloader just in case
How can I install this with S-on? Couldn't get S-off because firewater is broken for me.
My phone is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked. How can I lock the bootloader without S-off?

you could try Sunshine to get S-OFF it cost $25 dollars but it can S-OFF your device.
But I think that you do not need to be s-off to run the RUU, if you want to easily relock the bootloader use tthe HTC One 2014 (M8) All-In-One Toolkit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699065 its the easiest way
Can I use this to go from Google Play Edition back to stock Sense assuming I change my CID back to AT&T?
I am S-OFF and Bootloader Unlocked and obviously ATT branded.
Yes

no bugs so far but battery life isn't that great as with the last FW although there is no battery drain like with the OTA but I'm not impressed with the battery performance

I have my phone set up like I want it. Stable, everything works. Running 4.4.2 rooted, unlocked, twrp recovery, etc. All the apps I want. So on and so forth.
Will nandroid backup made now work after I run this ruu? Basically update the os and then recover everything the way I have it set up now?
Sorry for asking what seems, even to me, a basic beginners question.

In short...No. First off, you can't install the 4.4.3 update if you have a TWRP recovery installed. You have to have the stock recovery in order to do the update. But...for the sake of argument, you did the update and...then re-rooted and restored your nandroid. You would in effect overwrite the update and put yourself back to where you started (if that makes any sense).
My advice would be to install a custom ROM that containes the 4.4.3 update already...or put a stock recovery back on your phone and do the update. There is a nice all-in-one update you can run right off the sdcard using Hboot. I did it and it was flawless.
Either way, you'll most likely be setting up your phone again but that really shouldn't be too bad. Take some screenshots so you will remember just how you had things.
Hope this helps and good luck.

I have to ask, if you went through all that trouble, why would you ever want to run ATT software? You could have easily converted to Dev Edition and never looked back.

I can't answer for the OP, but coming from the factory unlocked version and having tried various firmwares and ROMs (including Dev), the ATT RUU is the only one that gives me true LTE speeds.
Scott, could you point me towards that update using Hboot?
