My screen stays on when plugged to a charger or the computer, is anyone else having this problem? It seems like it just started happening all of a sudden

Go under app settings, development, and make sure the keep screen on option is off.

Do you have the option ticked not to turn off screen when charging? If the phone is in debug mode and you flick open the notification menu, you can change some debug settings. One of them being screen sleep while charging.
Sorry to hijack the post, but I love my screen being on while plugged-in but is there a way to prevent it from dimming. I want it to stay at max without dimming, and it drives me crazy.
thanks

Hey when I Pinch the Home Screen and it shows me all my screens the GS3 talks and says Home Screen Edit Mode, how do I turn off the talking feature??
Thanks
Uninstall light flow

I don't have that app.
Its got to be a system setting
Accessibility->Services->TalkBack => Set to 'Off'.
A known issue in Android with Accessibility apps (such as 'Light flow') is that the Talkback is turned back on even tough it should be off.

just popped up for the first time now and i tried googling with nothing answering it.
anyone know?
i was first thinking it was smart stay but its unchecked and still there.
Smart stay..it's the feature that keeps your screen on when you're reading a webpage or something.... works great
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
i have it disabled in my settings so it shouldnt be on there... thats weird.
smart stay
if you set you screen to timeout for 30 seconds or so, smart stay will check around that time to see if you are looking at the screen. so that eye icon will pop up every time it wants to screen timeout.
lol @ nobody paying attention to the OP's full post.

By chance you have custom rom ? i am running one right now and its bugged, smart stay doesn't work and eye stays on all the time untill reboot :cyclops:
Care to post a screenshot? Does it look different than the Smart Stay eye that pops up?

Does anyone know if the One has the option to see a preview of an email message in the notification pull down menu? I just bought this phone today and have not been able to find this setting? I thought it was a standard Jelly Bean option, but I could be mistaken.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,

I think you could just the 4.2.2 gmail apk and should work
Do you mean like this? I just sent myself a message. and that's how it looks in my notification bar. I do know that if it's a single line like WiFi TetherMod is, you drag it down using 2 fingers. So You'd drag WiFi Tether Mod down using 2 fingers and it would expand. (If the notification is capable)
EDIT: BTW, I'm using the stock Gmail app that comes out the market.

Are you on the stock rom? I don't get this sort of notification, and I don't see an option for this in the Gmail app.

Does it look like this normally? If so, try dragging it with 2 fingers. I'm on Renovate. I don't think a ROM can add this feature. This feature is a JellyBean feature. I've had this feature on my Epic 4G Touch (GS2), as well.
The notification itself, if you drag it down with 2 fingers, it should expand. And you'd have more options and viewability. Like in my previous post.
I've also upload 2 more screenshots showing you a before and after of Google Music. It's a single bar, but if you drag it with 2 fingers it expands.
EDIT: Also it is not an option your turn on and off. By dragging, I mean the actual notification itself.

As you say, it might be in the next version. Getting this stuff early is a big reason folks root and use a custom Rom. I usually do, but just haven't felt the need with the One. It is meeting my needs right out of the box.

Any link for that? I'm not sure it would work over a stock rom, non rooted, but it is worth a try...
I'm interested. Do you have expandable notifications? I mean can you expand other notifications? I've always thought this was just a JellyBean feature and not something that could be taken out and added, or something of the sort.
I discovered that I won't get notifications unless auto sync is turned on. However, even with that on, I can't preview the notification.
I turned it back off because it also lights off the LED, which uses battery, and there is no way to turn that off separately.
I'd really rather save the battery than have constant notification of gmail messages.
The reason its not working for most of you is the battery saver notification. It is listed as a high priority/ongoing notification and essentially kills the auto expand. Expandable notifications have been in Android since 4.1 not 4.2

Do you mean that running power saver mode prevents it?

No its the notification itself... you need to be rooted and use a mod to remove it and then they will work fine

I'm still bone stock, no root, no mods, and I can expand my notifications (if they're expandable.) I have the notification for Power Saver, and this works whether it's toggled on or off.
You have to press and drag with TWO FINGERS to expand them. Not just one.

Sorry, you didn't say anything about "top notification" for "auto expand," what you said (or how it read) was that having the power saver notification in the notifications area was what was stopping folks from being able to expand notifications (with a two-finger swipe wasn't said, but seemed to be implied.) And I didn't think we were talking about "auto expand," but about being able to make them expand if they could...
I just did it on my stock ROM using the two finger method on the notification. I still have my Power saver notification showing also. I wish it would allow me to delete instead of archive.
I have literally had my phone for less than a few hours. But I thought it would be a great idea to share likes and dislikes.
Little bit of background, I am coming from a Note 2, so most of my likes/dislikes will be catered toward the upgrade from the Note 2.

Mostly Everything LOL,
the screen resolution
the vibrant colors,
super fast,
the plethora of options,
blocking mode finally works,
no wifi nag notification,
wifi toggle works.
Dislikes -
The internet browser no longer sync with google,
can not use multiple lock screen widgets w/password or pattern lock,
4x4 grid on touchwiz (will be switching to nova).
I will update my list once I get to fully dive in. But so far 9.9999999999/10
I had mine for about an half hour. The best thing so far to me is the settings screen is 1 menu instead of 4 tabs . Sometimes its just the little things
Loving mostly everything, but again have only messed with it for a short time.
Only gripes so far is font sizes and in general DPI is just way too big and obnoxious. And lag when typing on the keyboard.
Let's go root!

Yep. One screen.
Keyboard is amazing, no need for swiftkey.
Id rather have the tabs so you dont have to scroll dow a huge list like on my note 2. But ghsts not a big deal. Im glad you can use blocking mode, and the wifi is back to normal.

You can change that in the messenger app settings. Enable message preview and it will scroll the message in the status bar like normal.
I'm so jealous right now. I would have mine now too, if I didn't change the shipping address to the correct one. So they can't ship it until tomorrow. So i am going to call to see if I can pick it up later this evening...

Agree with pretty much all of the likes so far, which is mostly everything about the device. My 4G speeds seem to have improved too.
Some nitpicks:
-new S-Pen feels much cheaply made than Note 2's
-Flipbook keeps getting activated when I hit the home button and accidentally brush by the screen
-Screen brightness range is WAY TOO SMALL (minimum brightness is too bright)
Several complains: desktop view does not stay on. I do not see the Note 2 developers options. I cannot remove the Verizon bookmarks as I was able to do before and restore from a save.
I think u have to tap on something in the menu 7 times to get dev options to show up. Saw it in a review somewhere
