So, guys, I bought the new Canvas HD (Micromax A116) ...
Everything is very well exceeding my expectations except two issues (one minor, one major)
Minor - GPS has problems latching onto a satellite. Can be fixed with some booster apps, I guess. There are youtube videos out there explaining the process (Haven't tried them yet)
Major - Any headphones other than the stock ones provided in the Box with the phone, do not run properly with this device.
I mean, I tried HTC stock ones, Samsung stock ones, my Pioneer Headset, all were giving a very muffled output (I was watching a movie and the dialogues ONLY were muffled, often almost muted, but the background scores were sounding normal, glorious as ever)
When I tried the stock ones, everything was fine. But these are of low-grade make, and hence wanted to use other better-quality ones.
Anyone who has a solution / suggestions?
P.S. - I guess this could be generic issue, with phones from some other manufacturers as well. Any inputs would be welcome.
Most Micromax devices support the earphones with only black or green strips on 3.5mm jack.
Most earphones comes with white or other color stripes on jack that won't support MMX.
Have same problem.
not signal earphone found.

for headphones i am using intex IT-701 and for in ear earphones i am using sony ericsson xperia x8 earphone and both earphoneand headphones are working fine.
I use beats Dr. Dre and they work very good with my canvas hd so I would suggest try it. And I have not used the micromax headphones till now so can't say about its output.
Have fun..

Even the LG phones have better music quality (with same earphones) than A116. you can also compare it with any Sony phone. I have tried it with
with Creative Ep630 → Quality sucks.
with Sound Magic ES18→ Quality sucks.
with stock Micromax earphone → Quality sucks.
Do let me know if you know a good quality earphone that works well with this. so far I have not found any.
Any hardware or software workaround for this problem ?

I was facing the same issue of Muffled sound, I figured that the bad sound was the result of a crappy sound enhancement settings. And I have fixed it by Disabling the settings.
Just goto Settings > User Profiles > Sound enhancement > Disable the BesAudEnh . > Notice the difference in sound Quality
Sorry dude I don't have any idea about best earphones for canvas HD.
But want to try JBL tempo headset which comes with MMX A88
But I think der is no way to improve music quality. I tried awesome beats also but quality little improved.

Update fix
This issue seems to be solved with 4.2.1 update.
I'm now able to use Creative EP630 with A116 without any distortions in audio.

4.2.1 update made it even better
You can update your phone at micromax service centres. The update is good and it also adds OTA feature so for further updates you dont have to visit one. Coming to the headset issue, I am still facing the problem with samsung and stock headsetsbut it got better on basic sony and panasonic earphones. So try only using earphones ( without the mic).
I figured this out too ... if I use any headphones with mic, the voice is muffled, but the music is there ... but if I use, any headphones without mic, everything is perfect!
Will buy some good IEMs without mic ... am sure they will work just fine!

Nokia BH-503 compatibility with MMX A116
Hey Guys,
I have recently gt my A116 and was disappointed with its sound quality. I was thinking of buying Nokia BH-503 bluetooth stereo headset as I hate wires for my A116. But before doing that I would like to know your take on Nokia BH-503. Does this headset work well with the A116? please let me know if there is any problem with the compatibility. I have read somewhere on this site that the BH-503 works fantastically well with MMX A116.
THanks in advance.

Anyone know of a good set of earphones that will also control the media player? I want to be able to click a button on the mike to pause the music and pick up a call. Then, when the call is over, have the music resume again. I had this on my blackberry, but haven't found it on android yet.

Just bought one, here it costs 62$, but just found one crappy disclaimer from SE site "The products X10, X10 mini, X10 mini pro, X8 will operate call handling (take/reject calls) music handling (play/pause). Please note; volume and LiveKey™ not supported for those products."
Could use a dev opinion, if it isn't the same **** as X10 doesn't support dual touch Because I'm pretty sure that 3.5mm ports aren't specially modified to support simple buttons?

I'm coming from an iphone 4s and i find my s3 is much better, but it fails A LOT on the audio/video recording..
on the iphone it was pretty smooth, even in concerts with super bass and etc, great audio..
but in the s3 i can't hear any sound, just a lot of distortion and noise, even in my voice, i need to speak low when recording something.. too sad..
searched in here but i couldnt find any conclusive method/mod.. only people saying its some driver/codec/software problem, not with the mic or sound board (the s3 soundboard is great)..
I'm using CM10 (4.1.2) in my S3 and Siyah kernel..
is there any working mod to fix this problem? would make me very happy, i do a lot of videos..
thanks!
bump..
Yeah i use custom sammy rom sounds alot better and clearer

Well i didn't face any such issue in nokia's so i adviced them. If you want to use your dell then revert back to 4.1 or try the custom roms available.

Hi Guys,
I've recently purchased a Moto E XT1021 and am dismayed that it has the same audio hissing issue that some of the LG phones have suffered from. The exact problem is demonstrated on a YouTube video entitled "LG G2 KitKat Audio Issues (hissing noise)".
It appears that LG have acknowledged the problem but I wondered if anyone was aware of an existing or future fix that will work on the Moto E? I've tried the latest stock, CM11 and SlimKat ROMs but the hissing is present on all of them. This is very annoying when listening to soft music like piano pieces.
I don't want to purchase any more headphones because I already own several branded pairs that sound great on my other devices.
I've tried the suggested solutions of turning off DSP effects, using aeroplane mode, using PowerAmp etc. but these don't impact on the hissing.
Cheers.

Thanks for confirming that.
Are you using in-ear headphones? All mine are 16 or 32 ohm and are the ear-canal type. My phone was purchased in the UK.
Also got an UK phone and used a Sure in-ear headphone....
Will double check tomorrow!

Nice one.
I've just located my old Sony MDR-V6 'over-ear' headphones and they have no hiss when connected to my Moto E. However, this doesn't surprise me because I've seen the interesting thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2611599, regarding the poor Opamp on the Moto G.
I'm still curious whether this can be 'fixed' with a software patch or if it's purely down to poor audio hardware. It seems pretty lame that a device from 2013/2014 can sound as bad as the old cassette tapes from my childhood.
Wow, there really is quite some hissing when using my Sure headphone
Don't know why I did not notice this before....
My other headphones sound great!
Hello guys ,
I noticed some thing about my sony xperia Z2 is that the headphones sound in it is very low , if I use AUX on my car using this phone , sound comes really low compared to my old HTC phone (I know HTC has beats support which increases overall volume) but still , LG G3 for example is higher , Iphone is higher and other phones support higher volume sound .
What I also noticed is that even on my old HTC , when I install custom roms that are not Sense roms the sound is lower , a lot lower .
So I was wondering maybe there is a mod or tweak for my device that makes sound a lot higher when using AUX ?
Yeah, same prob here. Anyone?
having the same problem, tried using the z2 for music at work through aux lead into a makita stereo. Even with the stereo & phone turn't up at its loudest, My old iphone will be as loud if not louder at half the volume. have resorted to using my iphone 3gs for listening to podcasts. I hate iphone been with andriod since.. The phone is brilliant but as a personal music player aux or headphone it total sucks..

I doubt you would be able to do anything without root as you need to modify some system files. Maybe theres app that can increase the volume but I don't know.
