[Q] [Problem][CWM Touch-6.0.2.7][Not Installing]

Hello people....
I am new to SGS3 xda forum....i am from Pakistan...its been 2 weeks since i bought a SGS3 (second hand)...probably of 3mobile U.K...i was told by the seller that the phone was unlocked in Pakistan....as i tried system update from settings...it said that my phone was modified and could not be updated....so i decided to install CWM Touch on my SGS3 in order to create backup of my current stock ROM (4.1.1)...my phone is not rooted yet....i followed the instructions given in the following link:
http://jellybean-news.blogspot.com/2013/02/complete-guide-to-install-clockworkmod.html
Odin took 1 second and my phone was booted....Odin gave the Message ''Pass!''...everything went fine as it should have been...but when i went into the recovery mod...Stock Android Recovery is opening instead of CWM Touch....noting my phone is not rooted yet....it is also normally booting and everything is fine....can anybody guide me about the problem that i am currently facing...and its solution as well....?? Help Would Be Appreciated...
Edit:Just Flashed CF-Root Pakcage Including SuperSU and CWM Manager with CWM v5.5.0.4....now it goes into CWM...but still one noob question....have my previous stock android recovery and CWM Touch been automatically deleted/replaced?...or they still exist?? Thanks
Sounds like you were trying to install a cwm without being rooted.
Cwm replaces the stock android recovery. You could now try flashing the cwm touch through your current cwm. Make sure its a zip. If you come and ask for help You should really follow a guide on xda though. They are the best guides around.

When you flash a recovery you will delete the previous recovery in doing so, your stock and touch are both gone - replaced with v5.5.0.4.
You can now boot into CWM and install a better recovery, try Philz touch recovery for instance.

Please elaborate on your Problem.
You are saying that you can boot.CWM But cannot flash your stock rom!?
If so please check if it is a CWM Backup or a flashable ZIP Package.
if it is a CWM Backup then place the backup file at SD/Clockwordmod/Backup [I Think you have to unzip it first] and then go to backup and restore and restore from there.

[Q] how to upgrade Cwm and custom rom doubts.

So I'm running Cwm version 5.8.1.5 and on stock rom. Now I want to put a custom kitkat rom . so for that, do I need to upgrade my cwm to 6.0.4.5?If so then how do I do it( wanna confirm)?
And just so that the process is streamlined, can anyone tell me the exact procedure before and after flashing the rom via CWM?

If you want back-up apps and data with titanium back-up.
Put all the files you need on your phone (CWM kitkat compatible, rom, gapps) reboot into recovery, nandroid back-up, flash the kitkat compatible CWM, reboot into recovery and follow the steps in the op of the rom you want to install.

[Q] backup before installing CWM?

Hi all,
Under stock recovery, I tried to run an update.zip, which is gapps package. I got: "E:signature verification failed. Installation aborted."
I googled and planning to do the CWM things.
But, this Philips phone (android 4.0.4, one article says it's MTK device) is rare and no ROM available out there. So I have to be careful.
Could anybody please answer:
1>. Is there any MTK version of CWM?
2>. How do I backup BEFORE installing CWM? --- in case I want to get back stock recovery.
3>. If I got the wrong CWM version, is it just can not install CWM, or I can but very dangerous?
Thanks.

Thanks.
I viewed some tutorials and tried Goomanager and visited TWRP site, but my device is not in twrp's list. Can I just pick a relatively new version of twrp and install?
Finally I find in this forum a thread: [PORT] [TOOL] Carliv Touch Recovery for MT657x.
I successfully flashed recovery.
Thank you, sir.
I think I didn't helped you at all. LOL no prob

cwm recovery requirement root?

Hi i want just install cwm on my s3, and be with stock firmware , i dont wanna install Custom Roms or same like that, just be with CWM and stock rom. so still root required when CWM INSTALLED FROM ODIN? SORRY FOR DUMP QUESTION
No need to root before installing a custom recovery with Odin.
I recommend TWRP over CWM as CWM has not been updated for a very long time.

Neither has the s3 and twrp is known for borking your nand, so much so that they have a section on it on twrp website.
My opinion, use the last official cwmr for your device.
@shivadow, I didn't know that twrp affected the s3. The last version I recall using on the last few sgh-i747m phones I had was 2.87.
Do you have a link to the twrp section regarding this issue? Might be good to have it stickied?
Thank you.
Twrp buggers all devices in the end, not just the s3. It's like there's a bug that can't be solved.
