Yes sure but you will have to still pay the monthly bill to your carrier for 2 years so you'd have to get a phone or pay money for nothing.
Although I have heard of ways to disconnect the contract if you specify special reasons. But that would be fraud if they were not the actual reasons.

If you upgraded through a third party, be sure to read their contract. Some such as Wirefly will penalize you if the phone is transferred to another line within the first 181 days, as it counts as a 'deactivation.'. I'm assuming this would also apply if you sold the phone and activated another on the line you used to get the phone.

As long as you have another phone active on the account you should not have any problems.
