Let me first apologize for not posting in the correct dev thread, for that I do not have permissions to do so. Also like to thank all the devs for their hardwork, time, & commitment to helping others.
I have recently flashed my LGOG E970 to SnowJB's (Team Carbon) CarbonRom. However, I notice extreme battery drain (~1% every 2-3minutes) using the default Kernel. I tried to adjust the performance control settings to lower the min setting from 1026 to 384 but the settings will not save /stick.
I ended up flashing to Houcha's geeb kernel based on someone's post of a similiar battery drain problem. However, unlike that user I am still experiencing major battery drains. Once again i tried to adjust the Performance Control settings and still have the problem of it not "sticking".
Any ideas on how to get the settings to stick or resolve this crazy battery drain issue?
FYI: LGNPST to JB 4.1.2 -> Rooted -> Unlocked -> Flashed CarbonRom with CWM v6 per OP directions
Thanks in advance
Disable performance control with titanium backup. Download trickster mod app or similar and use that. I had the best battery performance using houstonn's modded 192 mhz kernel.

Thank you kind Sir for the tip. I ended up freezing the performance controller with mybackup pro. It sort of fix the issue for now, but it still does not save the settings with a reboot. I just have to remind myself to reconfigure trickster every time I power off

I too experience this, however as mentioned above with houstonn's 192mhz kernel, the settings will stick; verified working on my CarbomROM LGOG.

If you find your settings to be stable after continuous use, in Trickster if you hit menu, there's a set on boot option. Just enable it, and I think you can also ask for a notification from Trickster when it does start.

I'm not responsible for any problems caused by this on your device. It's your choice to apply these simple tweaks to your phone!

[These apps are NOT paid! Only setCPU is paid, you can get it from the Android Market! (All apps provided here are downloadable in de Android Market)]

If these simple Android Market apps, cause any problems on your device it means you've got something unstable installed on your device! I never had problems with Autokiller and AutoRun Manager on any ROM.
Hey,
In this thread I will show you how to get a REAL boost on your Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10! This method could also improve performance and battery life on any other handset. This is compatible on Android 2.1, 2.2.1 and 2.3.x. (This way of boosting performance is without Systcl config! I suggest you to uninstall Systcl config, since it doesn't improve anything for me (and maybe for more persons here). I don't recommend you to use Autokiller on WolfBreak his CyanogenMod 6.1.3. He has already implemented these settings and also don't use this on Gingerbread Custom ROMS for the x10. Autokiller is not stable on it anymore. Just wait till I report more about it.
This method made me lose 0-2% in 9 hours on WolfBreak his Cyanogenmod 6.1.3 and ALL 2.1 ROMS! These simple apps, did improve my performance and battery life!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lets get to the point
Download this and this package, put in on your phone and install them!
Lets config it now
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Open Autokiller.
Go to the tab Memory limits.
Now put these configuration into the 3 boxes. (If these values cause problems you can try lower values I will provide)
Hidden app: 150
Content provider: 160
Empty app: 170
Now press on Apply.
Lower values (Only use when you get problems with high values):
Hidden app: 82
Content provider: 90
Empty app: 92
Now press on Apply.
(Don't put these values listed above higer. If you do your device can start to malfunction)
Now press on the Menu button on your Device and tap on Settings. Now make sure Apply settings on boot is turned on! After turning it on, press on Advanced system tweaks. Now make sure that Battery and Memory management are turned on!
Exit Auto Killer by pressing the menu button and reboot your device.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now open Autorun Manager.
Now make sure every service that is listed in the tab Basic you don't need is turned off! Make sure you only turn off things in the tab Basic! After doing that, exit Autorun Manager with the Menu button and reboot your device.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This configuration only effects you device when your screen is turned off. Don't expect with this setCPU very big changes! But there will (must) be some changes in battery life) (Some people had big changes)
The settings here below won't cause any lag when coming from sleep (atleast for me). Even with heavy apps.
[To get the XDA-free version of setCPU take a look at this post. Credits for telling this are going to DooMLoRD]
This step has a payed app. You can buy it from the Android Market. The app is called ''setCPU''.
Buy setCPU from the Android Market. Now open it and do the following:
Tap on Show Other Frequency Sets and tap on the list on Nexus One/Snapdragon [QSD8x50]. Put
Now press left in the corner on the tab Main. Put in the scaling bar the maximal frequency on 998MHz. Now put the minimal frequency on 245MHz.
Now press on Scaling and choose out of the list Ondemand, after pressing on Ondemand turn ''Set on Boot'' on.
Now press on the tab that you can find next to Main. It's called Profiles. Make sure that ''Enable'' turned one and Notifications turned off. Then press on Add Profile. In the Edit Profile window you have to put the following settings:
Profile: Screen Off
Max: 384MHz (Don't put it lower or it can cause malfunctioning!)
Min: 245 MHz
Scaling: powersave
Priority: 100 (High)
Then press Save.
Then reboot your device and enjoy!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your x10 is now fully optimized with a few simple apps! Not only the battery but also the performance! Most people think it should improve battery, it's only more for performace. It can improve your battery.
And... Don't forget to press the ''Thanks'' button instead of saying Thanks in this thread
If you liked this and are able to, please donate to me
Have fun!

Interesting. Hard to believe the 0% in 9hours. I think that's massively exaggerated. Cellular standby at the min uses 0.5%-1% per hour. Even if you didn't turn your screen on during that entire 9 hour period, you would still have a drop of about 5%-10% in batt life.
But I'll bite and give it a test.

Yes, that's what I was saying, even then, cellular standby would eat up 0.5-1% of batt life per hour. Could be much higher if you're on a fringe area of your nearest tower among other factors. In a 9 hour period, in just standby and in perfect conditions it should have at the very least dropped 5%.
I mean this is just the nature of the beast with devices. Only way around this would be airplane mode, phone in sleep mode and not being used at all. Then the phone is pretty much dead and you might as well just have it turned off. Even then phones that are turned off actually bleed batt life. Albeit at a much slower pace, they still discharge while completely off.

I'm using D.I.R.T's Unofficial AOKP, and my CPU1 doesn't seem to be saving its configuration. If I close out of kernel tuner it resets itself back to 1134Mhz. Even linking the cores doesn't fix it.
The only fix i've found was to force CPU1 to stay on, but that's not a very good fix for me, it wastes too much battery life.
CPU Tweaks greets me with the screenshot below.

Could be the kernel tuner app.
You should try System Tuner.
If the issue continues i recommend posting this in the AOKP thread where you might get more help..

Actually, I figured it out. My phone was warm, so I figured that might be the reason. I went and edited thermald.conf and now my settings are staying. Thanks though!
Edit: Nevermind, it worked for a few minutes but then it changed again.
Has anybody with a Note 2 tried the One Power Guard? I'm rooted running Scott's Clean ROM Verizon Special Edition, with the kernel that comes with the ROM. While I have had no issues with my battery, I figure it's always better to use less battery, right?
Questions for users: does the phone seem to run any slower? Are there any lag issues? Do you switch modes frequently or does the AI mode seem to do the job well? Since this app seems to base most of it's settings off the min and max frequency, are there any settings in my ROM I should change relating the processor frequency before installing? Would it be more effective than just using the "Power Save Mode" that Samsung has included?

Don't worry about your phone lag.
3 way can make it run well.
1. Change other IO until it is the best
2. Make higher CPU frequencies.
3. Change other CPU governors such as: "powersave" more lag than "ondemand"
so try to change some settings until your phone run the best.
You can feedback your issue from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1947559
I'm now on Criskelo the great ROM, having good battery but I wanna squeeze it even more (ie. save more juice!)
Then I found One Power Guard yesterday, and installed it. Running on default (AI mode), I notice it's draining battery even more so, I wonder why?
Anyone notice this issue?
Hello XDA,
I've come across a really annoying issue for me.
I've downloaded android revolution 40.0 and was advised to run boeffla kernel with it as the stock kernel drained the battery too much.
I installed boeffla kernel and it was working fine, all the tweaks worked!
Now there's only 1 issue that needs to be fixed with this kernel/rom. The home button is very unresponsive when the phone is in sleep/standby mode. Things I've tried:
Using different governors
flashing boeffla kernel obviously
changing CPU speeds
Different options within the boeffla app.
Does anyone have any idea why the button reacts so slow as it does? Is it rom related or kernel related?
Any advice on a possible fix would be very welcome.
Don't be shy :silly:

Define ur term 'slow' how slow is it. 5 seconds?
Hi all!
I don't have a lot of free time, but i just fell in love with CM12, and i wanted to use it daily.(and i want to help for those who wants to use it daily aswell)
We all met with the deepsleep problem, it only happens when screen is off, and cpu governor is not powersave.
As in ALL the google API talks about powersaving mode when phone is in sleep mode etc... i think there is a major problem with CM12 framework, that android not going to powersaver mode.(as it should)
So what i have done is just coded a "couple of minute sollution". It is an apk, and it is only uses one service, and one broadcastreceiver to be able to SET CPU to powersave mode when screen is off.(And ofcourse back to interactive when screen is on, to avoid lag)
HOW TO USE: (ROOT NEEDED!!!)
1) Download apk from here(attached down)
2) Install it
3) Start the application from menu
4) Wait until SuperSU(or any root) asks for permission, allow it!
5) Reboot phone.
After the first start of the application, the icon will be removed from menu not to disturb the user
So when you open it, take care for wait SuperSU to ask permission, and when you give it, then reboot.
If you messed up something, just delete app from settings menu, and do steps from 2).
If you want to be sure that it works use adb shell command to check governor:
After reboot turn the screen off and type in adb:
Code:
adb shell
su
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
it will show powersave, and when you turn the screen on it will show interactive!
One more thing! To avoid SuperSU make toasts of granting permission, you can turn it off in SuperSU settings!
Peaceful life with lollipop btw!

Btw i make another option then, for those who need perf. Gov.
Even i can make it to 300mhz when sleep via performance governor to avoid battery drain.

Hi.
It is really simple, i don't really think you can fix the issue if you don't know how to set a cpu scaling governor.(it is very basic thing since android is out, and even on PCs)(if you don't mind i am declaring this)
On this site you can find instructions:
http://bamboopuppy.com/android-cpu-frequency-using-cpufreq-ondemand-governor/
What i used is checking screen state(via BroadcastReceiver), and when screen is on i set it to interactive, when screen is off i set it to powersave, that's it really.
I even posted in OP how you can check:
Code:
adb shell
su
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
To write governor:
Code:
adb shell
su
echo "interactive" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
