So. My problem is that i cant unlock my Evo 3D GSM bootloader since i had my motherboard replaced. I got S-on 1.53. Is there any way to unlock my bootloader or i just have to stick with stock?
Thanks in advance
Laury
I prefer to s-off then unlock, I would use Unknownforce's tool.

Well if you want to try this guide out that's not dangerous its the s-off jbear wire trick ( http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-all-things-root/695161-s-off-root-fix-everything-all-in-one.html) go ahead I just s-offed my EVO 3d last night and it really works!! I was on hboot 1.58.0000 but Any hboot will work. The best part is it works on both (WINDOWS) and Linux.,
Lol windows all the wayy:thumbup: If you decide to use this guide, for the wire part you can use a rubberized paperclip with the rubber tips cut off. This is so cool!!

I also couldn unlock the bootloader. All I did was use the Ulitmate recovery tool and then installed the 1.49.0007 HBOOT and Then used the Revolutionary to unlock the bootloader.

Is your hboot still S-off? If so, youre probably able to reflash recovery and regain root
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
You just need to follow the "UNROOT" instructions which will roll your Hboot back and then run Revolution again.... (*Or at least thats what I understand from all the reading I have done.) The method they used to get us permanent NAND unlock seems to truly be permanent so you just have to use the HTC Bootloader unlock, then use that to roll the HBOOT back in order to use Revolutionary.
*I have not done this and never will have to but this is my understanding. As always YMMV and if you BRICK IT,well, you already BOUGHT IT.

Hit up that guy who posted that reply. I am pretty sure he did it and redid it a couple times. (*I think)
FORGET IT! That guy actually still had his S-off from Revolutionary and DID NOT take the OTA which is how your NAND was relocked. For now, either sit tight and wait, again, for Rev and Unrevoked to hopefully cook something up or use the HTC method and enjoy half root.
Sorry bud....
I hope so... I was chatting yesterday with them at their IRC channel and they were saying it may not happen....

You currently can't root 1.5 without using HTC's method. Revolutionary is supposedly working on it but its been along time and there doesn't seem to be that much of a rush since HTC released their method.

It is possible to flash CM7 with the HTC Unlock . You have to do it through fastboot . But I agree with everyone here Im not really liking the idea of using the HTC unlock . I to have found myself on HTC's website but just cant bring myself to trust them . I have been waiting patiently for Alpha/Unrevoked to work some magic . That or hope like hell something goes wrong with mine and I get another warranty claim and get 1.40 bootloader on the replacement LOL
How long have you guys been waiting?
Also I don't see no threads out there about alpha/rev working on hboot 1.50 so that ish is driving me crazy....

Depends on what version of bootloader you have. Which one you got?

Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Well I just got mine from sprint and mare sure they didn't update it outta the box..had 1.40 WOOT!!so what ya gotta do is pull the battery, put I back in and gold the VOL+DOWN & Power at the same time until it takes u into the Hboot...at the top it will tell u which Hboot u got
1.30xxxxx
1.40xxxxx
1.50xxxxx
Now the first two i listed are good...but if u got 1.50 u have to use HTC's method which still isn't bad...in the dev section there are a few great guides on how to use HTC's method and get u your recovery and everything. If u got either of the first two the Google _revolutionary_ and it should be the first selection that pops up...u will need the SDK Installed on Yur PC but I think it may give u a link on there page if u need it. But on the REV page they give great directions. I'm head to bed but I'm sure someone else here can help when u find out which Hboot u got. That's very important. Good luck....Jon

It doesn't suck if u know how to use it. It gives u full access to root, but there is an extra step to flashing custom kernels. scrosler I. the dev section made a program for the PC that makes it ten times easier to flash the newer twrp recovery and get u on Yur way. So for kernels u have to fastboot your CUSTOM kernels....

So does this essentially unlock the bootloader and give s-off?

Cool. Once someone has a write up or script to relock, unroot, unlock again with s-off and reroot so i don't get that red text on boot let me know. That would be the only reason i care about this.
Hopefully the devs didn't waste a good exploit that could have been used on a phone that needed it.

If you are already on 2.09 hboot, I think you have to use the hboot downgrade method to brick your phone and install an earlier hboot which will let you run dirty racun. It is by no means easy, and I don't know if there is still support for that method.

The only way to downgrade your HBOOT on this device IS to brick your phone (if you're S-ON, that is). I think you misunderstood. This device is much more locked down than the OG. "Forget everything you think you know."
But at this point, the downgrade method isn't supported (yet). I already bricked my Jewel trying it (granted, that was after the downgrade was completed successfully, but still).
The team that put together the downgrading tool is still working vigorously on confirming a method that will work reliably with the new HBOOT. Stay tuned.

^^^ This. The OG EVO and this phone are not the same. What worked on one won't necessarily work on the other. Just wait for an S-off exploit for the new Hboot, otherwise you'll end up with an expensive paperweight, like the Captain did:banghead:
