Hello all,
I am having an issue when I restart my phone. I started with around 45%, then after the reboot I have 15% battery left. This has been about the same for the two occasions that this has happened. I have Clockwork Mod Recovery installed but with a stock GB 2.3.4 ROM. Wiping the battery stats has not changed a thing. I'm pretty sure the battery is actually draining because plugging it into the charger then disconnecting it immediately doesn't change the reading, only plugging it in and letting it charge fixes it. The first time this happened I let it charge fully, then unplugged it, and the battery percent went to 95% (almost time for a new battery?). But does anyone know why it drops 30%? It hasn't started happening until recently.
The place on the far right where the battery percentage drops is when I restarted my phone. Screenshot of the battery stats:

I did search and hadn't found anything so I posted. You'd figure someone with even just 60 posts would search before posting right? Like any other forum on the internet, I searched it too. After you said it was already posted I searched more and eventually found the ONE thread on it, but the guy said that only happened when his phone froze. Plus, my battery drops more than what he was describing.

Bahahaha and the worst part is you get so many results. I'm thinking the OP needs to work on his google fu. Battery drops after reboot, eventually climbs back up and everything is fine. It's been like this since the phone was released. Doesn't always happen and doesn't always effect everyone. It just happens randomly for some reason. I've rebooted under 60% battery and it didnt happen. Then the next day I did the same thing and it dropped .

So, I noticed that when my battery gets to the yellow color on the indicator, it stays there only for a couple minutes, then it's immediately red. Here's what I mean. Does this look normal???:

Have you contacted Sprint about it or brought it into the store? If so, what'd they say?
I experienced this today and wasn't sure about it thought it was a.glitch or something. But I will see if it will happen again

I've seen this every single time it gets to that point. I'll try and take it to the Sprint store tomorrow when I get a chance and will let you know what they say.
If anyone gets a chance to call Sprint about this in the meantime, please post details. I'm curious to see what they say.

Sprint isn't going to be able to tell you anything. Most of the people there barely know anything about the phone itself. Get a task manager that tracks your usage and figures out what exactly is using your battery at what times and you can figure it out for yourself. Try SystemPanel.
I had this problem on the og EVO as well as the 3d I wouldn't call it a bug it just is what it is

Wow ive managed to make it happen everytime. When the battery gets to about 23 % it falls to 14 and really puzzled by this. Is it a major problem or does the battery need calibration
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
It's gonna be a calibration/software issue. Either your phone is reading the battery wrong, or the battery is sending the wrong signal.
If it was actually dropping that fast, your battery would explode.
I'm dead serious too.
Try this: When it does the drop thing, reset your phone, and see what % the battery shows when it comes back on. It should jump back up to around your original % (23 you said?). Maybe a middle ground of around 20.
If it doesn't right itself in a week, swap it out.
I waited for mine to discharged till 9% and it didn't happen at all here is a pic I took
I have noticed this as well.

same here the battery turns yellow then almost instant its read !
I had the same issue, kind of ignored it. The drop seemed instant but then my phone would hang out on 14% for a long ass time.
One day I had around 35% and did a data reset (not for the battery issue), just to see if my 3g speeds increase. After the reboot my phone came back up said I had less then 2% battery left, it shut off on me, I turned it back on, and it stated I had 30ish % left. Ever since then my battery hasn't done that drop.
Here's a link to the thread, try it, can't hurt anything I guess. I still don't know if maybe the data reset, reset my battery stats, or maybe the restart did something, who knows. All I know is I had the same issue and don't anymore

I saw this issues with battery on my thunderbolt but i haven't been seen them on my evo yet
If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d
I flashed an aosp ROM which was very unstable and so went back to the Sensation ROM I was using prior to the aosp ROM and all has been well since apart from a sudden drop in battery roughly 3 hours after flashing. I've attached a screen cap. of the battery usage screen shortly after it occurred, should it help anyone identify the problem.

I had the same problem just yesterday, it's due to the fact that when you're flashing your ROMS your battery got miscalibrated. It's a simple thing to fix just follow the instructions from this app on the Play Store (New Market for those of you without the update).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
Did you reboot the phone in this 3 hours? Coz I see this big step, which is happening when you reboot in recovery or flash something. You need to charge you phone and calibrate you battery

I rebooted after I'd configure the launcher as it was before I tried the aosp rom, but didn't enter recovery or flash anything.
I'll configure the battery and hope it doesn't happen, just wondering if anyone has an idea what caused it?
The exact thing happened to me. When you flashed your phone at a certain battery percentage (lets say 50%) Your new ROM assumes that 50% is the maximum capacity. Therefore, when you rebooted your phone it simply corrected the misreading. Calibrating your battery from the app I provided in my earlier post will delete the batter stats file in your phone and create a new one. Remember to use it when your battery is at 100%, then take your battery down to 0% and charge it back up to 100. I'm currently doing that process now after my phone jumped from 50% down to 20% after I rebooted yesterday.

It`s happening some times, you are not first and not last. Just calibrate you battery and will be fine. Good luck
Ok so I've downloaded the battery calibration app and currently charging my device however the app is displaying the same battery level as my phone.
Does this render the battery calibration a waste of time or is it to be expected?

Mine always does this when flashing and shows the sudden drop in battery. Once you charge it back up it should be fine again I'm sure. It always is for me

Yep. You are 100% correct
Calibration apps do absolutely nothing except make you a few bucks poorer if you pay for them :-|
The best thing you can do is charge to 100%, pull the battery for a minute, and put it back in.
Also Ex Tweaks is capable of resetting the fuel gauge chip in genuine Samsung batteries should you be experiencing fuel alerted wakelocks on CM9 or similar.

I was always happy with my battery, but always wanted to find ways to improve it. I installed foxhound use black wallpaper and battery was even better after this, until...
I read about recalibrating your battery after installing custom ROMs and decided to try "Battery Calibration" App by NeMa.
Today for the first time ever my battery died whilst I was at work, I actually though my phone had broke as I was fully charged this morning and had rarely used my phone. My phone is on charge now and I'm trying to fix this huge battery drain, according to the battery settings the Android OS has drained 71% of the battery, that can't be right can it?
BTW I'm using and have always used stock kernel.

Please can someone help me to fix this, I've searched Google but not found anything useful. My only ideas are 1. Hope it fixes itself or 2. Reinstall foxhound.

Don't let your battery drain to zero, charge from 20% it will train up again, and I guess this app just deleted your batt stats file and possibly wiped your dalvik. If you really wanna look at your battery get better battery stats from play store

I didn't know this, and I assumed that people who make these app's or post about these know a little something about it, I've obviously received some bad advice on various threads.
So how can I fix this now? Judging by your post, I simply just using the phone for a week or so and it will fix itself?
Thanks for your advice,

For anyone interested or in the same situation, my battery is as good or better than ever. I just charged my phone turned it off charged again until full (about 5 mins) turned back on and just used my phone. Phone has been running for over 22 hours now and battery is still at 40%
Much happier now
Thanks to everyone for the help

Anyone else seeing issues with really inaccurate battery readings? I'll be at 99% charged for 15+ hours sometimes, and then things will drop rapidly or even just die at 20%. I've also noticed when charging that it'll get to 99% within an hour or so and then spend 30-45 mins at 99%.
On top of this, my phone battery just died at around 55%. Are others just draining their battery all the way to try to calibrate?

What rom and Kernel are you on. Also what mods if any such as battery indicators and such have you put on your phone?
@dragonstalker: I'm running stock with the latest OTA update. I'm using Batterybot to display the indicator in the notification bar, but the reading is the same from the stock battery display.

For the last 2 days, my battery has drained overnight and is dead by the morning. The first time, I didn't think of it. This time, I looked at the history and it drains within maybe 6 hours without the screen on, being awake, or anything. I turn off all of my radios besides cellular at night. So I have no clue what could be causing the battery drain. Any ideas? Here is a pic of the history

Is anyone using battery calibration apps? I know some of the custom ROMs like Hatka Supreme list that they include some sort of function in those regards.
I thought even on stock there was a way to erase battery stats so that you could recalibrate. No? Could of sworn I had seen the option when I first got the phone. Could be wrong too...

I downloaded Gsam and it says that my radio is taking up most of my battery. Any idea why this is happening because its never done this before? I used to get at least 2 days of battery usage. I charged it until it was full yesterday, let it sit overnight, and this morning it was @ 20%. I'm on newts M7 and z's B5.4. I've been on this combination for the majority of the time I've had my phone an no problems until now. And I don't think its the kernel because the same thing happens when I had it on 5.1. I noticed I was on global mode and I changed it to LTE/CDMA. Who the hell knows, that might be what's causing it. We'll see. Any help is appreciated.
Are others having this? i mean i go through a full battery about twice a day.... I cant figure out what is draining it so bad. i have used WLD, greenify, and bootmanager to try to figure it out..... None of my apps are ever on the battery list, and screen is around 50% usually with android system and android OS always being up the list. I always thought it was my bad signal strength at work but i had two weeks off and my phone NEVER lasted even close to a day.
I have factory reset once but loaded my same apps backup.
I heard someone else mention that the sprint has this weird battery drain that is explainable and was wondering if others see that also.
I am on the search for a 6000+ mah battery i know it will have a replacement back plate but i don't want the whole case thing like the 9000 zero lemon.
Sounds like kernel wakelock
As of the last two days i have also been experiencing much faster battery drain. Have had the phone since launch and never had this problem.
I do not use the device in excess. Very few if any phone calls per day, some texting and gmail, occasional skim of xda, huffpo, phandroid apps and very light Twitter use if bored and not near the computer.
Battery has dipped 5% since writing this post...that's all of 1-2 minutes in use.
Sent from my LGLS990 using XDA Free mobile app
That's not normal for a Sprint LG G3. A couple of questions:
Have you looked at the battery stats page to see what app(s) are using the most battery? I'd suggest taking a screen shot of that page and posting it here.
Have you tried rebooting the phone? If there's an app or process running out of control that will often clear it up.
Are you rooted? If so, install better battery stats so we can get a better look at what's eating the battery.
Finally, you might want to take a look at this thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...android-system-eating-your-battery-check.html
While it's unlikely you have the same problem I did, the tools and techniques I used to debug it might be useful for you.
Gonna wait for some custom roms to see if the problem just goes away.

Dude the battery app should show you what is causing it. Something has gone rouge!!! I just had my weather app running in the background using GPS for 5 hours, yeah my battery went way down. Freeze some BS apps. I routinely get 30 hrs plus on a single charge. Not the phone itself something you are using is causingi it.
As requested, my craptastic battery info. Brightness was 83.
