I am using the Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G.
I had put a Siyah Kernel on thinking it was compatable, which it obviously wasn't hense this post.
I've searched for related problems some near mine, but not exactly on the mark.
What has happened is the Kernel was placed onto phone, it reboot and now it has the S2 start up logo with the name and model number, but below that is a yellow caution triangle, I cannot enter download mode, nor can my PC detect it.
Is there any possible way to fix this?
Yes there is.

Get an I9100G stock rom. Flash it with Odin. And don't flash anything for I9100/T to your phone again. Next time you'll probably break it permanently.
Edit - You're obviously not trying to get into download mode right. Keep trying. It isn't bricked. If it were, it probably wouldn't boot.
He's in forced download mode. He needs to sort the pc - to - device connection out.

There was a brief connection to the PC to device in it installing the drivers not sure if it matters but it had failed to install the drivers either way.
Edit -
I have some how managed to enter download mode. At this point is there any way of backing up any data on the phone?

Reinstall latest kies, reboot and try again.
Got a laptop nearby? Install kies there; sounds like a messy drivers thing.
And remember to kill all kies applications via task manager.
You will lose only apps installed data, nothing else.

Hello.
For the past week, I have been having this annoying problem. Sometimes randomly, I reach my pocket for the phone, I unlock it and the background is black, my widgets closed themselves and I get no response from anything but the power button.
Other times, sometimes when I finish a call, the phone just freezes and doesn't respond anymore, except for the power button again. I really don't know what can be causing this. I can only reboot it.
If I leave the phone freezed for a while, a message appears. The background problem causes something like touchwiz stopped working and after the call, I get android.phone.com stopped working, if I recall correctly.
For the history, I already had installed some custom ROM's, but decided a while to go back to stock ROM's. I used the official ones, from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487.
The first one was I9100XWLSD, built January 31st, in which I had that problem already. I then went for the most recent until now, I9100XWLSN. The problems stay, though. Everytime I flash, I make sure to factory reset, wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache.
I'm no expert, but I know the basics about using Odin3 and flashing stock or custom ROM's. The phone is rooted with Siyah S2 6.0b4 kernel.
Please help, I'm going nuts over this. Thanks.
Sounds like a memory leak issue...
Try Siyah v6 b5..

Ok. Just one thing. Do I need to flash the ROM again or can I just flash the new kernel over? What happens to the files of the previous kernel?
Those are questions I always had, but never really needed to know. Now I see it's different.
Btw, what do you mean by fixing permissions?

Just flash the kernel over the ROM. It will remove the old kernel files. To be really sure of this, u can first flash a 'kernel wipe script' before flashing the new kernel.
Fixing permissions:
Go to CWM recovery - Advanced -Fix permissions.

Far more phones get bricked via Kies/OTA updates than via Odin. We just don't tend to hear about the former on here because it happens to 'ordinary users'.
If you want it done in 5 minutes & without dramas, use Odin.

Yes, but the main problem with Kies is it's unpredictable. Sometimes, u don't get updates, sometimes it won't connect and (like in my case) it can mess up ur phone too!
Here is an interesting thread:

From what it seems, it looks like u have no option other than Odin. You could try re-installing Kies, rebooting ur phone and computer, or even doing a factory reset.

Odin is Samsung software. Kies is also Samsung software. Kies is a piece of s#!t.
Odin works just fine for most people almost all of the time if you make sure you know what you're doing before you use it - make sure you're using a PC with reliable USB ports, make sure whatever it is you're about to flash isn't corrupted, only flash stuff for your model phone. If you're careful/use common sense, Odin works fine. 99.9999% of problems with Odin are caused by something the user has/hasn't done, I've only ever seen <10 people who bricked their phone using Odin who were 'unlucky' in the 18 mths I've been here (out of many thousands).

Hi, I successfully rooted my phone and all was good until an automatic update came out for Super User and asked me to download and restart. Since then I haven't been able to boot into recovery mode or get past the samsung logo screen. However I can get into download mode. Could anyone give me any tips on what to do? The phone keeps restarting when I'm not in download mode and I need to take the battery out to turn the phone off.
Thanks
Maybe try re-flashing the Odin version of whatever kernel you were running (if there is one).
Failing that, get a stock rom from Samfirmware, flash it, re-root phone, restore nandroid backup (assuming you have one), or re-flash whatever rom/kernel you were using if you don't have a backup & start from scratch.

Hi, i have a really bad situation here.
so my phone needs its firmware flashed as it no longer will boot in either recovery mode or boot in general.
so i have to correct firmware open in odin and my phone in download mode but the firmware flashing failed.
the error was "Can't open the serial(COM) port."
im unsure if it has anything to do with the fact that my phone is not in usb debugging mode although i thought that the downloading mode bypassed that?
i would really like to save my data on my phone (pictures and such) so if anyone has a way i can either flash my firmware or retrieve my data that would be wonderful.
There is a picture of my attempt at flashing my firmware attached. (i think)
and here is the firmware i used (not a link to a download): firmwaredown.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/i9100tdvlp4-android-403-ics-australia.html

Worried? Hmm.. A little.
Before I suggest anything, tell us how u messed up ur phone.
How did it get bricked?
What firmware are you on now?
Are you rooted?
As for the problem u have now, its called a NAND corruption. It may or may not be fixable.
Try these steps (all of them) first and see if you can successfully flash a rom:

Keep trying a few more times. There must be something u haven't tried yet.
Also try flashing another firmware.
Once Odin flash succeeds, let us know.
If you can't get it to flash after a lot of trying, ur NAND could be borked. Take it to a service centre then.

Only thing I can suggest it to download a stock ROM for your region from sammobile.com (sign up required - 5 mins) then select i9100T etc and then get the latest ROM for your region, if you can compare the md5 checksum then do this. If they match, stick your phone in download mode (you can still do this yes?) and pray that it goes well.
But before you should do this, wait and see if anyone shouts at me for suggesting this since you may have NAND corruption and it would be a bad idea! You never know...
Edit: well according to post above, you can continue to flash away, so try a few different ROM's, try to compare the md5 checksums for errors during downloading, and hope.

i think my nand is borked
which sucks!
As Gaston & I were saying last week, in these instances, it's either a case of something really simple being missed/not being done (people not trying all the things suggested/saying they have but they haven't, etc) which is more likely, or the phone is genuinely borked, which is less likely (Tho it does happen).
Unless you've left something out (about what's happened to the phone, what you have/haven't done with & to it), it makes no sense for it to be 'borked' given what you've told us. I suggest you keep trying, and try with as many different PC's as you can get access to (and try all the troubleshooting steps you've been given on each PC if necessary).
