Hi,
I would like to know, if this device can read flash disks formated with exFat file system and connected via USB host by native stock rom ?

Hello,
Scenario: SGS2, KIES-updated HKI4 firmware (2.3.4), rooted
I have an USB OTG adapter I got from DealExtreme that works quite fine. FAT32-formatted pen drives are instantly recognized and properly mounted.
However, if I plug in a ext2 pendrive, Android says it is blank.
The problem, however, is that the ext2 partition is recognized as /dev/block/sda/sda1, so it is not mounted automatically. If I mount it manually, I can access the ext2 partition and use the pendrive as any FAT32 (with all the added benefits of an ext2 partition).
How can I make Android mount an ext2 pen drive automatically? What config files do I have to change?
thanks.
hii bro ... I have HTC wildfire s with android 2.3.5 ...but its not rooted... what do you think will It recognize fat 32 pendrive if I try to do on the go with it ... or do I need to root my phone ... any suggestion would be much appreciated ...
Most 2.3.x devices with USB OTG support will automatically mount FAT32 partitions without the need of rooting.
Actually, in order to mount other filesystems, one doesn't need root either. All that is needed is access to the console (such as Terminal Emulator) and give the proper commands.
1.hi im abrar i own a sgs2.....i hav bought a USB otg cable but when i try to connect a pendrive to it ......it says ahigh power usb device connected with a triangular symbol..........wat to do........??

I read that when connecting a storage device via the USB OTG , the i777 can only read FAT32 device. Would it be possible to read NTFS formatted devices? I tried to load international i9100's NTFS driver, but it did not work. The kernel of my i777 is latest Entropy's Daily Driver.

I was planning on adding the FUSE module which allows ntfs-3g to be used... In fact I thought I had done it already but it looks like I didn't.
I'll add fuse.ko to the next DD release
You'll still need the ntfs-3g binary in /system somewhere
Can't help you much beyond that - I don't have an OTG adapter
I tried to search for a previous thread with no luck, so here it goes again. Has it been solved yet, to format a usb flash to a format that supports files over the 4GB limit and I can access with my tab as well as pc? If I remember it correctly, SGT didn't support NTFS, but was there another format to do it?
Thx!
I have a USB hdd connected through usb otg and it recognizes a drive is plugged in, but thinks it's empty / unusable. I think it's ext3 or 4. Which file systems can the S3 read? If I flash a custom ROM would it allow me to read other file systems? Thanks
The usb hdd needs to be fat32. Do not use windows own formatter as it is broken. Use an external app like easeus. A custom rom will allow other file systems but you might not be able to read them on a pc.
i cant find unmount or eject anywhere on my pixel 6 in settings to safely remove a usb stick.
the pixel 6 formatted my usb stick to fat 32, it will not read exfat. is there a way to get support on the factory rom for exfat? or do i have to run a custom rom
ok the eject is in the notificaton
OTG technology doesn't need to be unmounted just pull it once the transfer is complete.
I format it with the phone to avoid issues in the future.
Never use only flash drives for backup. Hdds should be used as the primary backup. Hdds are more robust and data can be recovered even if the interface gets fried or corrupted... not easily though. Hdds have much better memory retention than does flash memory.
only way I have seen to mount other formats is to use "exFAT/NTFS by Paragon Software" on the playstore.
There's a plan to merge exFAT into Linux kernel 5 same way NTFS was merged last year. But this doesn't mean Google is interested in adopting it for Android. AFAIK, Samsung is the only Android OEM who ever offered native exFAT support with a kernel module.
Works on both P6/P6P. I can confirm as I have it on both my devices.
[MOD][MAGISK][ANDROID 12] - vold-exFAT OTG Support for Pixel 6 Pro
What's this? A simple Magisk Module that will give you access to mount USB OTG devices formatted as exFAT. I created this module for my personal use due to the limitation of stock OS and the limitation of FAT32 formatted devices. How to use...
