Hi. When I received the phone, out of the box security was not enabled and I was able to unlock the screen only by sliding the pad lock UP on the lock screen.
This worked well for me as I could read all notifications while locked, without unlocking the phone.
I then tried out the other security methods including Pattern. Didn't like it and wanted to go back to slide to unlock.
Under Security there is not a Slide to Unlock option.
Now, if I leave it as No Security, anything unlocks the screen, even a tap.
How do I get the original pad lock Slide to Unlock feature back?
A hard reset?
Sorry if this has been answered before, I did a quick search and didn't find a thread.
Thanks.
Set it to wallpaper lockscreen. Personally I use productivity so my messages go on lockscreen
Btw option is under settings / personalization / lockscreen type

Same Issue
Hello I am currently having the same issue with my lock screen. I hadn't even realized that switching the lock screen type was the reason, but it makes sense. Did you find a way to fix it? The above poster's method did not work for me.
Thanks for putting this problem in words!
So it looks like this is an issue that happens whenever you have an accessibility setting enabled as described here. This goes for any accessibility settings... Can someone confirm if this still happens with other Sense ROMs or if this only happens with stock?

Can't seem to find a fix for it though, hopefully with 4.2.2
Hi guys! Made a fix for this issue please refer to this thread.

Hi there,
I was wondering If anyone out there knows of an apps to locks the phone. Im new on this and what I'm looking for is something to replace the unlock swipe screen that came with the phone. I want something like a numeric keypad as a lock / unlock application.
Samsung Vibrant
thanks
Do you want a different option for a pattern lock?
I searched and didn't find anything. My brother has a numeric lock for his Nexus, but that's a CM feature.
I don't think they're out yet. If you find one in the market chances they won't work because of TouchWiz and you would have to be rooted.
Thanks for your quick response to my question.I am kind of new on this and yes what I want is a numeric keypad instead of a pattern.
once again thank you !!
I like using WidgetLocker and it's been working generally well until I realized it does not replace the default lockscreen. After my 3 minute screen timeout for my Droid 2 to lock up, I have to unlock using WidgetLocker and then the default lockscreen. Is there a way so that I do not see the default lockscreen itself? BTW, I am using a pattern lock.
I use an app called "no lock" and it works really well.
I'm the dev of WidgetLocker.
The issue you are experiencing is because the standard swipe unlock is tied to the pattern (and pin and password) security on Motorola phones. I haven't yet found a way around this. There's two methods I may use to solve this (possibly both options)
1) Implement security into WidgetLocker.
2) Use root to bypass the intermediate swipe unlock
The advantage of using the system's security is that it's for sure protected at phone boot, it's harder for a third-party-app to guarantee that. The advantage of WidgetLocker's own security is that it wouldn't require root (Then again maybe it would for at-boot protection) and would allow more options.
I don't know when I will have a solution to this, I just know it will NOT be in the next update. If you just purchased and this issue is causing you to not use WidgetLocker email me ([email protected]) with your order number (and mention this thread) and I can cancel/refund the order.
No Lock will disable your security. I don't remember offhand if LockBot Pro just completely bypasses the security or has the same issue, but it doesn't solve the problem.
Thread moved to General.
Alright, thanks guys for the good info. I'll continue to use WidgetLocker just because I like it that much, and I hope a solution can be found some time in the future. Thanks!
So, any updates? I'm now unlock homescreen 3 times ). Widgetlocker+Standart_SlideLocker+Pattern. Temporary removed widgetlocker.

i know it's an old thread and problem, but i thought i'd just throw this idea out there...
my current security solution for Motorola phones (Droid X and Bionic) is to enable PIN security. this means that i do not have to depend on a third party app to lock my phone down at boot (which is difficult as you point out).
while using my phone at home, i temporarily disable the PIN security using Switchpro widget's "Auto ScreenLock" toggle (i think No Lock work too). when my phone is rebooted, the Motorola security is automatically active again, and i have to select Switchpro widget again to temporarily disable the PIN security if i choose, or i can leave it enabled if i'm at work or someplace else where the likelihood of losing my phone is increased.
unfortunately this means i can't really use WidgetLocker because whenever i' have PIN security enabled, i have to deal with the extra swipe of the stock lock screen. yes, the new feature for auto-swiping works and is cool, but it's a bit slow and awkward.
Possible solution: if WidgetLocker included a separate post-boot security PIN feature that was reasonably secure while the phone is on (and without disabling the stock security PIN), then i would be in heaven. this would allow me to leave system security PIN in place (protecting me during boot), i would have to swipe and enter my PIN twice the first time i enter my phone after boot (once for system PIN, once for WidgetLocker), then i could disable the system PIN via Switchpro widget (or No Lock) and only have the WidgetLocker PIN on subsequent attempts to unlock my phone until the next reboot. i used exactly this process on my Droid X with LockBot Pro, but LockBot Pro is not compatible with the Bionic.
is this description even remotely clear? i realize that it might be a confusing sequence for some folks, but it would totally address the issue of security during boot and post-boot while also being able to use this excellent app on Motorola phones.
just a thought...

Hi,
I got the same problem as the threadstarter. Any progesses made? Teslacoil hompage says:
Can I use WidgetLocker with a security lockscreen?
Yes, but it depends on your configuration. Some devices force their own slider, before the security slider. This means WidgetLocker, then system slider, then system security. Generally Samsung and HTC devices don't have this issue, and other devices don't have this issue when using Pattern security rather than PIN or Password. WidgetLocker includes a work around for root users to "auto-swipe" the system slider.

On my Galaxy S2 this workaraound does not auto-slide the systemslider... What's wrong with it?
Have a Atrix 2 here and as PhilDX said, it is kinda slow and awkward. When I have the pattern security active and swipe the Widgetlocker lock, it kinda "flashes" my homescreen then goes to the pattern. Also, even though I have autoswipe enabled, but sometimes the original lockscreen pops up.
Great program though, LOVE that I can put widgets on the lockscreen^^
Hello, My phone is SGS2-GTI9100G model.
Can I ask any method to prevent exit active applications from the task manager?
I have a similar problem

My (unrooted) Samsung Stratosphere's Default lockscreen keeps Activating and overriding WidgetLocker. WidgetLocker doesn't even show up or if it does it pops up after I've already unlocked the phone. I have tried setting WL homehelper as home but default still replaces it, then widgetlocker locks the screen at random while I'm in the middle of something. I also tried no lock which disabled all lockscreens temporarily before stock kicked in and locked the phone. is there a way to fix this without root?
Right...so somehow a really long time ago I managed to root my HTC Hero while adb did not even work properly (couldn't use most of the commands). Either way....I now have Froyo 2.2.1 special edition flashed with ADW launcher but I can't see the slide to unlock screen. The same happened with Froydvillain 1.7.2 with LauncherPro.
It doesn't matter what button I press to wake my phone up, it never shows the slide to unlock screen. I've searched through all the settings on both and haven't found anything. Maybe i'm missing something. maybe it just is an error. Please help me find a suitable solution How do I get my slide lock back?
PS: my biggest problem is not having slide/lockscreen music controls. I use bTunes to get around that (controls before pattern unlock shows) but it lags.
-edit-
I found a setting I overlooked but hats not completely what I wanted. Settings -> Location & Security -> Set up screen lock and disable it or set to none. Now I get an slide to unlock but fr security reasons (obviously) I want slide to unlock and then a pattern.
-edit2-
"slide to unlock lock screen with pattern" on Modaco forums (since i can't post urls)
slide + pin is a possible. still hoping someone finds slide + pattern
I just downloaded these app and love how it makes the phone run and look. I have a rooted droid 2 but am not currently using the root for anything. I Have the GO locker app on here with a new lock screen an it almost works great. But every ones-in-a-while the old lock screen will pop up and then i will have to unlock that then the Go locker lock screen.
Any one els use this or know how to fix it. I'm willing to put a custom ROM on my phone but they all look like allot of work to get the same thing that Go launcher does?
Hey, if still unsolved, you can proceed by selecting "Go locker" as the default launcher !
I have one question about go locker, it looks great and works ok, but I can't find out how to change the default screen when someone is calling me. When the phone is locked and I receive the phonecall, it doesn't even show the screen where you have to slide to answer or decline the call, it just shows the default android screen for phonecalls as it would show if the phone was unlocked.
Notification pin
Hello,
Currently I am using Go launcher with Go locker. I have not found any problems recently and enjoy them very much.
However, I am having one annoying little problem and wonder if anyone could please help with this.
I cannot open anything from my notification bar without entering a pin first. Whether it be messaging, apps, or updates.
I briefly remember choosing this option in a menu, but not sure. I have checked system settings/security, GO locker setting/security, and GO launcher settings. I cannot find anywhere to disable this feature . PLEASE HELP AS THIS IS NOW A VERY ANNOYING PROBLEM. !!
Thank You.
So my S9+ took a tumble and was unresponsive. Luckily, I had insurance. So when I received the new device, I set it up, let everything restore that was available for restoration, and took the latest update (screenshot attached). Now my absolute favorite way to unlock a phone out of all the phones I've owned, was the gesture unlock. Not pattern, gesture. What am I missing here? I can't believe they would remove this amazing feature, so I must be missing something. Thank you!!
Anyone?
Gesture unlock as in the option for "swype" as a lock screen type?
Swype for unlocking the phone is present on my phone (G965U). If your using a 3rd party lock screen try disabling or removing it. If you have some sort of app/configuration that requires secure lock it might have disabled swype to unlock.
Otherwise maybe try factory data resetting the phone or else reflashing the update using odin?
No, not swipe to unlock, that's still available. Does no one remember gesture unlock? Like mine was up down up down up down left. Just swipe those gestures to unlock. How does nobody remember this?? Gf confirms btw, so I know I'm not crazy lmao

Gesture (singluar) unlock as I remember it was simply swiping your finger up the screen to unlock it. What your describing sounds more like a pattern unlock method.. Where multiple swipes in a specific manner will unlock the screen.
Looking on my phone there is a pattern unlock option. Is this option present on your lock screen > screen lock type settings?
** Edit - Never mind, the previous poster found the setting in question.
