Does anyone have a back up of the stock rom? Downloaded a HTC one rom and forgot to backup. I'd like the backup and I'll install wipe everything you have and then backup a fresh wipe so everyone can use it if they feel. Anyone? Thanks

Not if you are boot looping, recovery must be launched from within the rom.
maybe we could get hashcode to bring us safestrap. i use ti on my D3 and it is wonderful to have. you can boot into it at start and also you can have a backed up ready to boot original stock OS and then a second rom or whatever you want and you can switch back and forth.
Safestrap should be something like 2ndinit. I can try to port it, but I won't until an rsd recovery solution will come out!

So once there are custom roms...
Can rom manager be used to flash them or is it via recovery only?
If there was cm7 out for this phone could it be flashed as of now?

Cm7 requires its own kernel so a Dev would need to do extra work porting it to work with a stock kernel.

Anyone have a successful restore from a backup made by this?
I installed the apk and the app FCs on me when I try to open. Any ideas? I'm on rooted VZW XT912.
Get into recovery?
I f'ed up. I installed RAZR bootstrap, successfully created a nandroid backup, but wasn't thinking and did a system restore, cleared advanced/system, cache, etc, and then proceeded to reboot. It wouldn't get past the Moto logo....
How do I get back to the recovery screen to restore from nandroid backup?
I have Htc Flyer.
I update it from Gingerbread 2.3.3 to Honycomb 3.2.
I want to downgrade it again >>>> How can I downgrade it ?????????????
If there is a 2.3 rom for your device then flash it, or if there is a stock rom flash that. Next time you do an update make a nandroid backup, so if you dont like the new rom then just restore back

I have a Huewai Ascend M860
I have 3 backups on my SD through ClockWorkMod
Ascend_2.1
FroYo_2.2

Yes i have ClockWork Recoveries that i manually named so i know what rom is what rom at any point i can switch to and from any backup and access whichever version i choose at a moments notice in my opinion you MUST rename them because you know the default name is something like "2012 08.04-12:34:26" just fully remane it so you know what it is!
Its ok to rename in rom manager before you make a backup, but never rename the backup file on a PC and then flash the file, it wont work

I have meanrom v. 0.6, do I have to install v.0.7 or any other before installing v. 1.0 ??

Nope, you can wipe cache/dalvik and flash 1.0.
And the rom wipes the caches upon flash so you don't even really need to do that, but its a good habit to get into.

If you look on the mean rom thread, the developer of that rom has an installation posted for how to install each update. It also helps to ask questions in that thread, because you get a lot of users of that rom to answer questions like this, and it is a good community. I hope I have helped.
Figure this will be a good place to ask my question. how to i backup my launcher/layout if i want to wipe before flashing?

Little off topic but... I know you can use 'MyBackup Root' to backup your homescreens. Not something I make a habit of doing but it does work. You'll have to re add your widgets but it will restore most everything else.

You can back it up in titanium backup. It is a free app in the play store. Just back up [DESKTOP] HTC sense. If you are using a third party launcher then back up the app in titanium back up.

If you're flashing mean rom on top, all you need to do is dirty flash (no wiping) and all your apps, setup and even launcher/layout will be the same

if i may ask, why should i not make a habit of this. i just don't want to re-configure all of my launcher settings/layout.

You don't have to.just don't wipe and flash over itself. You won't lose anything

I installed android revolution had for htc one and I wanted the elemental X kernel. And I flashed it through twrp and after installation TWRP asked if I wanted to reboot and I did and the htc logo showed but then screen went black.
Reflash the Rom if you are on 4.2.2 version elemental x doesn't work with it it is for 4.1.2
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Custom kernels for 4.2.2?
That and I read somewhere if you change kernels you have to do some special process what process do you need to do?
All you need to do is reflash the Rom

Another question yesterday I did a factory reset (to install dirty unicorns rom) and I ran into an issue but my backup was deleted!
What do I need to delete if I wanted to go to a completely different rom?
i do factory reset in recovery then under advance i wipe system delvic and cache. i use twrp cwm might be different and if you are coming from 4.1 to 4.2 it moves your files they are not deleted they are in the 0 folder
Thanks!
Again thanks for answering my questions!

Is there anyway to go from Stock 4.2.2 rooted to 4.3 rooted (released on these forums).
I just want to know if I can backup ALL my data and files with TWRP, install the new rom, and restore the data and files?
Will doing a backup of "Data", "System" and "Boot" in TWRP backup my photos and downloads and music and such?
Any help? I just want the 4.3 Rom while maintaining data.

Best way to backup everything is to use Titanium Backup from the play store. It's a root app and works great.
