Hello I am currently running Hairy Bean 2.11 and I just want some info so if I should decide to make a change I do it correctly and do not brick my Prime.
So here goes:
I rooted and unlocked my prime then used HairyBean TWRP updater (normal) to install the TWRP recovery onto my Prime which gave me ver 2.4.1.0. I then made a backup using TWRP of my stock-unlocked-rooted rom. Just in case I ever needed it.
I then used Upgrade Hairybean 4.2.1 Bootloader & Recovery.zip and Hairybean 2.11.zip to install Androwook.
My question now is if I wanted to use that stock rom I would have to use "Downgrade Hairybean 4.1.1 Bootloader & Recovery" first correct?
Can anyone tell me what version TWRP that would put on my Prime? I am aware that I should not upgrade or change my TWRP while on Androwook unless the Dev says it is ok to do so, but I have one last question would a newer version of TWRP be able to flash a ROM made with an earlier version TWRP with no issues? I mean it should but just to be sure I wanted to ask the dumb question anyway.

You might be able to restore the stock rom on the 4.2.1 bootloader. I know that hairybean 1.51 will install fine on the 4.2.1 bootloader as long as everything is wiped.
Give it a go. Make a backup of your install now and try restoring the old backup.. You wont break anything that way.
If it doesn't work then use the downgrade zip and restore it.
The upgrade and downgrade zips include compatible TWRP's for the bootloader it is on. If you downgrade you can install official TWRPs from their site but if you are on the upgrade do not install them as you can brick. There's nothing worth upgrading twrp for anyway.. They work fine.
Thanks flumpster i just wanted to know if it could be done, i am still getting used to using HB 2.11 and loving it. But i always like to know i have and can go back to a stock rom if needed.
I did have a couple of those sudden unexpected reboots that i have read about with the 4.2 roms, but not enough to bother me.

Well to be honest it's smooth but the stock 4.1.1 was not bad either, I guess most performance boost and fixes can really be seen if you are coming from an ICS or HC rom. From what I understand those roms were pretty bad performance wise. I like the added tweaks though and look forward to getting the next update and some overclocked kernels. For now I am just enjoying the freedom to choose the apps I want and to loose those I do not.

I have a rooted unlocked prime with TeamEOS JB rom. In fact the only reason I unlocked the bootloader was to get jellybean in the form of that custom rom. As much of an improvement as this rom was over stock ICS, it has too many problems and my prime often powers off randomly. I would like to have the stock jellybean experience similar to my nexus ..... is it as simple as downloading the official jb rom from the asus website, flashing it, and then flashing twrp? And if it flashes badly (with the prime it seems to be a common problem) will I be able to simply restore via recovery? Please help a poor noob, I just want my prime to be usable!

looking for the same - still running on 4.0.x (Virtuous Rom) and want to have a full working JB Version. How can I get the stock version on my Prime ?! or does somebody know if the Virtuous Team is already working on an update of ther Prime Series Roms
So any stock Rom (modified or not) will be awesome to get my Prime to JB with a WW Version.

Me too! I have CWM recovery and a pre-rooted stock rom (.28). I've read on these fora that people have successfully installed the official .zip from Asus using a custom recovery, but I also read that other people are sure that it will brick the Prime. Getting confused

Here's what I did:
I downloaded the latest firmware from ASUS's website. I extracted it to the root of my micro SD. I plugged that Micro SD into my prime and it recognized it as an update.After I selected it in the notification bar, it rebooted me to recovery where I chose the extracted file and flashed it with TWRP.
N.B. Be sure to back up root with Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper.

I would like to add that you get the new TWRP openrecovery-twrp-2.2.2.1-tf201-JB.img from http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/93 so you can have a custom recovery with jelly bean
Also if you flash the full firmware from the Asus website you may lose root but can get it back by doing the following.

so..i haven't been checking the prime forums for a while..i last checked/upgrade my prime in october...going to twrp 2.1.3 and cm10 (nightly in early november)
but now i'd like to get one of the 4.2.1 roms but all the instructions emphasize that i need the jb bootloader
i never officially upgrade to 4.1..i went that way by flashing the twrp recovery and then cm...
so how do i upgrade to the jellybean bootloader? i''ve been searching like crazy and have seen nothing that is concrete as far as changing toa jellybean bootloader, so that i can flash twrp jb, then flash the rom of my choice
anyone willing to help me out on this, or point me in the right direction?

Go to post 2 in the hairybean thread and follow the instructions for upgrading from ICS. The only difference for you will be to change the rom in the instructions.
So, if I got this right, from ICS 9.4.5.30, I can just flash the JB 10.6.1.14.8 bootloader using TWRP 2.5.0.0, and then flash the CROMi-Xenogenesis 4.6.4 DEODEX rom? I don't have to do incremental upgrades, as it were? I'm running on an Infinity (TF700T, US SKU).
To clarify, I'm rooted and unlocked at the moment. I've already installed GOO. Will I lose root if I flash, or does that only apply to stock roms? Am I better of flashing the latest JB stock rom first and then doing a nandroid backup first? In this case, I will lose root if I understand everything correctly...
I know a lot of this is discussed in the CROMi threads, but no one seems to have asked specifically if you can go directly from ICS to CROMi-Xeno, unless I missed it.

Stupidly I updated to jelly bean through the Asus ota a while back and have recently decided it is sluggish and terrible. I have root and a custom recovery (TWRP) but it seems flashing an ICS ROM will give me a soft brick.
This isn't urgent, I can restore back to jelly bean using my back ups. But is there anything special that needs to be done to revert back to ICS?
I have been doing what I think is kind of the usual for flashing Roms .

Flash gapps

From my limited experience with Tf201, I read that to avoid a brick its important to flash the correct bootloader and recovery first? Not sure which though. You can also install Nvflash for Jellybean TF201 which apparently makes the device ’unbrickable’, theres a thread on this forum how to do it. Also, before you downgrade, try the unofficial cyanogenmod 4.3 jelly bean rom. Its very smooth and fast compared to the ota official Asus official JB, which is terrible as you said.

You cannot go back to ICS unless you have nvflash backups.
You can now create nvflash backups while you are on Jellybean tho which you couldn't do before.
I would advise trying one of the Hairybean Roms which is a big improvement over stock. If you do not want to go to the latest one you can flash Hairybean 1.51 which will flash ok on your bootloader and recovery without you changing anything.
Ok so i have been doing a lot of reading abojt cjstom roms and have been using energy lagest 4.2.1 rom.....it works well but i am having some random retarts and thought i would try Cyanogenmod 11.0.....in the instructions it says to down grade then install cyan....but i think that was when using the old energy....is thi right or do i really have to downgrade? I dont want to mess this up....also now that i have energy installed is it to late to intall nvflash?

You must downgrade if you want to have access to nvflash, read the threath named Flatline..., it will give you the necesary steps, as far i know, it involves downgrading the bootloader and the recovery, then flash the androidmobi flatline. In androwooks threath there are some files for downgrading..., but im not sure in the energy rom. I think downgrading will be mandatory, after that, make the nvflash backups (Flatline), and that will be the point to start flashing other roms.
