I want to reinstall the Zenexp Rom because it was a very nice Rom but I'm so used to having apps2sd for all my apps. The rom says that if I want to enable it I need to do the following:
" If you plan to use A2SD, you need to create the appropriate partition on your SD card. I recommend: Swap: 0MB, EXT2: 512 or 1024MB. Once you've partitioned, it is highly recommended that you convert your EXT2 partition to EXT3 in Recovery"
I don't know what this means. I managed to save my SD on my computer, luckily I did because I wiped out my whole SD on my phone and had no rom to reboot it to.
So, how do I set this up? please somebody help me. or take a look at the thread and explain it in laymen's term.
i think tnoob puts it in laymen well enough....
1. Boot into recovery
2. Scroll down to PARTITION SDCARD
3.Click On PARTITION SD
4.Click trackball to confirm
5.Select Swap size 32mb is fine
6.Select ext size (I did 768mb you don't have to make it that big)
7.Click again to partition sd card.
8.Go to PARTITION SD menu and choose SD:ext2 to ext3
hope this helpps...

Ok, I'm using the Zenexp Rom and I do a clean wipe, wipe dalvik 3x and reboot into recovery then I pick my Rom from the SD. From there I don't see the list of what you mentioned. I'm sorry if is driving you crazy, but I do appreciate your feedbacks.
I don't know which recovery build I am on, being that I'm a newbee. I have to step out for a bit and I'll be right back. thanks again.

when you go into recovery and your on the main screen, somewhere on that screen will be your image build....
I checked on google how the image screen looks like and my screen does not have those options. I think its because I don't have the actual original system backup. I always have to load a rom in order for my phone to work.
this is a screen shot of somebody elses but its the same looking screen I have:

It doesn't matter one way or another which one you use to format your SD card. The only thing it will do for your ROMs is if your ROM supports Apps2SD (not the Froyo-native A2SD), or you can flash/add Apps2SD to your ROM after the fact (some you can't), then you can have even more apps because ALL of your apps will be on the Ext3 partition on your SD card. Note that Froyo has problems with partitioned SD cards under most typical circumstances, so if you want that, then search for a thread (probably in the first three pages) in the Eris Dev forum about partitioning your SD card for Apps2SD use under Froyo.
In case you don't know already, the difference between native-Froyo Apps2SD and the other is that Froyo lets you move individual apps to your SD card, your SD card doesn't need to be partitioned at all (just one big FAT32 partition like normal), but some apps don't support being moved to the SD card, whereas the other Apps2SD, every single app can and WILL be on your SD card whether you like it or not.

ok, I managed to put Amon's RA and able to use the partitioning menu. I got that so far. Now, I have an issue when I reboot I have an icon on the top left hand corner, when I drop down the menu its telling me that the SD card is safe to be removed. I don't get it. I want to hook my phone up again to my computer to load the rom I wanted but its not reading the SD card. I can't flash or load a rom cause its not reading the card or any zip files.
did I do something wrong? Please help. thank you.

Has anyone tried this app for Data2SD?
I stumbled upon this app while taking a stroll in the Market. And wanted to share it with y'all.
And, NO, I am not the dev of the app.

I would've tried it myself, but I already have Data2SD on my phone. It might help those who need Data2SD.

I 'd be happy to answer any questions. The app simply creates and formats a storage in the SD, then links data from apps to that partition.

Does it do all this automatically.. I mean is there any special script or kernel required..?

1. You first use the "storage" menu to create a storage file (default 500MB) to be used as a partition. This partition is then automatically formatted to ext2 and mounted on the device startup.
2. From the "apps" menu you select an application and you have a list of the movable files.
3. You move/restore the files you wish.
Of course, don't do it for applications that start on boot, because the storage won't be mounted until the sd card is visible.

Is this only for 2.2 or can it be used for 2.1?
It can be used with 2.1 as it doesn't move the app itself (as the 2.2 system does), it moves the internal data in /data/data/<package>.
(requires root).
Glad to see the Dev himself here.
Hope many people benefit from this App.

Hell mate. I tried this with 500mb.
It stuck at 25mb which is like 5%
Then i formatted my sd card and tried with 50mb and again it stuck at 25mb.
Why is this problem occuring ? Also i have a 16gb sdhc which is class2
Hm, perhaps a problem with your SD card ?
Try this from shell:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/sdcard/rallsd/storage bs=1024 count=102400 (for 100MB).
this is similar to the command used by my app. If it also stucks, then it seems that there's an error with your SD card (chkdsk ?)
If it works, notify me and I 'll take a look.

Perhaps a chkdsk would help.

hi, i have 2 questions before ill give it a try.
is the app able to allocate free space from the sd card to create the partition
or do i have to wipe the sd completely before ?
will the app interfere in any way with already installed and normal moved apps ?

Three questions
I have three questions:
1) How can I reduce size of allocated memory space (I have mount 2 GB but now I see that is to much for my needs)
2) What happens with files that are on mounted partition if I uninstall Root all to SD app? How can I move it back to the original place?
Thanks in advance!

First, you have to make sure that your SD card is partitioned.
(If you want to test, EXT-2 will be the most successful as some SD cards doesnt support EXT-3 or 4)
Second, flash darktremor app2sd zip, DONT USE THE BETAS, USE THE LATEST STABLE BUILD. Because beta's have bugs. tested.
The one im using without bugs on my O1:
Version 2.7.5.2-1
http://www.darktremor.info/files/a2sd/dtapps2sd-2.7.5.2-1-signed.zip

Reboot.
The apps wont be in the EXT-Partition for now!
From market, download and install an app called "A2SDGUI"
open it, and the on the first screen (the left-most tab), you see a button called "Apps are on internet storage!" with a dimmed light bulb
Press it (to change it to "Apps are on SD card!") and you will be warned with a message "Are you sure?"
Press yes, and the phone will reboot.
Go back to A2SDGUI and check, the button you pressed will be changed to "Apps are on internet storage" with a brightened light bulb
Your apps which are displayed as "on Phone" (not "on SD" in froyo's app to sd) are on EXT-Partition now, enjoy
This guide is bullet proof. It will not damage your phone in any way or make it run any risks as long as you follow step by step.
What you'll need:
Any Android phone with CWM5 installed
For S2E - A CyanogenMod rom running on your phone. (Doesn't matter if a custom rom based on CM7 or CM7 itself. If S2E doesn't work, contact your rom's developer.)
Step by Step Guide
This part of the guide can be used simply to just make a partition on your SD. You don't have to use S2E which is completely optional. You can use any other app that fits your needs.
Backup your SD card data to PC before start partitioning.
Power on your phone
Hold the Home and Power button
Use volume down button to go down to ‘advanced’.
Then press home button
Select ‘Partition SD Card’.
Select the ext size that you want (128M, 256M, 512M, 1024M, 2048M or 4096M). (I use 256MB)
Select 0M as the Swap Size.
Copy back your data to SD card.
That’s all
Next;
For S2E
Go to CM settings and check 'Application moving'
Install S2E
Check the'Applications' box
Check the 'Dalvic Cache' box
Reboot your phone
For INT2EXT+ (For CM10.1 check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37939052&postcount=1121)
Download from the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124
Place it on the root of the SD
Make sure you delete ANY A2SD you have in your init.d folder.
Boot up CWM5
Mount system and data
Look for it and flash it (In "Install zip from SD")
Format SD EXT (In mounts and storage)
Reboot your phone
For Amarullz
Download the file attached to the first post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310309
Delete any A2SD scripts you might already have on your phone in the init.d folder
Extract the zip and put the script in the init.d folder
Change permissions to rw-r-r or to rwxrwxrwx if the first one doesn't work for you.
Reboot
I DO NOT USE LINK2SD OR RECOMMEND IT EITHER SO DON'T ASK.
When you reboot, it will take some time because of the Dalvic cache being moved to the SD card. When you install something, it will be installed automatically in the SD card, resulting in a completely empty internal storage.
NOTE FOR S2E: Some widgets or applications that have widgets, don't work while installed in the SD card. Those must be moved to the internal storage. The same thing applies to any themes you're using, launcher, camera apps, or anything else you believe should be installed internally.
NOTE 2: Please also keep in mind that when you reboot your phone (or turn it on) anything installed in the SD won't work until the phone is done scanning the SD card and confirms the item is installed.
NOTE 3: To delete the partition, you'll have to format the whole SD card. For that you have to use the Android Settings>Storage>Format SD. Any other way and the partition WILL NOT be erased. Make sure you back up before doing this.
S2E and AMARULLZ work with CM BASED ROMS ONLY but INT2EXT is UNIVERSAL.
You can try DarkTremor's script which is the same thing basically but I don't really know how to set it up so you'll have to find your own guide. And Links2SD doesn't free up that much memory but at least its something.
Please read this post carefully before asking any questions. I will ignore EVERY QUESTION who's answer is on this post.
Thanks to DavySML125 for the CM10.1 tip.

Depends on how much memory you think you'll consume. I'd still say go for 1GB. I have 100+ apps installed and I haven't even used half that GB. I'm using a 8GB class 4 or 6 (I forgot) and I'm thinking of lowering it to 500MB.

I'm having a hard time using apps such as rom manager. I'm getting an error message saying: The SD card needs to be mounted to use ROM manager.
I'm not sure where am I supposed to mount the SD card from? I tried mounting thru CWM (v.8), but that didn't make a difference. I'm using CyanogenMod-7.1.0.1 (GWK74). Android version = 2.3.7.
Do I need to mount the sdcard thru terminal emulator or something?

On CM7, the internal SD card is mounted at /mnt/emmc. Only if you have an external microSD card in the slot will it be mounted at /mnt/sdcard.
If you don't like this default behaviour, then recent versions of CM7 for the gTab has a toggle in Settings > CyanogenMod settings which you can use to let the internal SD card be used as /mnt/sdcard.
That Worked!
Thanks bro for the help that worked for me!
For anybody using CM7 and only having internal SD and needing to enable it:
Go to Settings --> CyanongenMod Settings --> Application and enable "Use Internal Storage".
I'll be uninstalling rom manager. Couple of questions:
1. When opening up Titanium Backup, I only see a black screen and it eventually FC's. Is that a tibu compatibility issue, or just needs fixing permissions? (I did reinstall the app but didn't make a difference)
2. Any rom recommendations for BL1.1? I got my sight on vegan ge 7.0 and evolver ferus 1.1.
