BTW
What do you mean root by restore method can you elaborate?
If nothing works
Simply unlock the bootloader and flash pre rooted kernel.

That's what problem is, nothing went wrong no errors its just that after rooting steps it doesn't show SuperUser icon.
I flashed with old firmware 6.1.1.B.1.10 then tried to rooted with Binary's v.29 file and then again flashed firmware with 6.1.1.B.1.54 Still no go.
Guys pls help.
u needed .10 kernel , not FIRMWARE, if u replaced .10 rooted firmware with .54 firmware u will loose root

I think you just need to persevere. I took me about 4 hours to get my Sony Sola to root with the above instructions, really hard work as the phone is nigh on unusable after flashing with 6.1.1.B.1.10 .
First Time I did it every thing seemed to go fine, I selected the backup on the Sola as promoted by Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry and restarted, then re flashed with 6.1.1.B.1.54 but it wasn't rooted.
I did it all again, but for the next few hours the backup restore would not appear on my phone screen, I would just get a black screen and occasionally i would be able to power off (i say occasionally as after flashing with 10, hardly anything works on the phone, and the touch screen never works), other times i had to use the volume done button and power button to re-start the phone, then would have to get it to start up without booting - just going into the charge screen - so i could eventually power it down to re-flash with 54!
Any way after doing the process over, and over again for about 4 hours, i gave up. Tried again the next morning and it worked first time! I didn't even have to select to restore the back up, or power off on the phone, it all seemed to do it for me!
Just keep trying hopefully you will get there.:good:
1.Try to reflash whole ICS ftf, around 500MB.Means install ICS again,or repair your phone using Sony PC Companion
2.After finish, download these three things http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2029756
3.Go to computer/local disk c/flashtool,then drivers,install drivers,choose Xperia P,U,sola drivers and fastboot,flashmode
4.After finished installing drivers reboot your computer
5.After reboot flash .10 firmware using flashtool
6.Root using Bin4ry's method
7.You should see Supersu app in app drawer
7.At last flash .54 firmware
8.Done.
Hope this method help.

Hi
If you follow the forum you will find some posts of me trying to have last fw .62 rooted with CWM working. Even if some users can do it by OTA, other by other process I never have total success but like most of you…I simple wont to have last fw .62 working, rooted and with CWM also working. The best I get was .62fw rooted but without CWM working and if install fw.62 by the traditional way I just get SE logo and have to flash it again.
After several times I finally have it work…
The only thing I have so far is that I believe I flash what I think is last baseband and after I flash it my computer says I have a new fw to install!!
This process is using pieces of ideas from others so I just get a way of put all together and have it working for me and decide to share with you.
Like always you can try it at your own responsibility.
Fist you should have .42 fw installed.
Root it.
Install CWM XPERIA from market (not the traditional way)
Download this and put it on your SD card: http://sourceforge.net/projects/sea...tloaderlock/generic/generic620.2.zip/download
Reboot NEO on CWM and install the file.
Reboot your phone and install the previous downloaded file.
At this time you have fw .62 without kernel.
Reboot your phone again and again go to the icon of CWM and reinstall again CWM.
Put you phone off again and flash just the .62 kernel. You can use .62 complete fw and choose only to install kernel.
At this point you should have .62 fw with .62 kernel.
On my case I install CWM again just in case.
If you reboot and press down volume you will have access to CWM.
I flash what I read that was last baseband using this file: http://www.mediafire.com/?tfd8bdbdrcd4bpq (after that my computer advice me to update phone…don´t know way)
For those that consider my guide too nooby…guys was the only way I found…sorry.
For those that somehow contribute with links to have it compiled I thank them.

Hi all!
(Well, I have to start with that I'm hungarian so sorry for my english.)
I dont know if anyone has already mentioned this problem in other threads but i didnt find any. So my problem is that I rooted my phone with changing kernel (neoV 4.0.3) after that rooting and after rooting upgrading the latest mini pro kernel in my phone (4.1.B.0.587).
There was no problem i have managed to root my phone. After that i downloaded the cwm auto installer app from play and installed cwm. After that i installed two apps with cwm, exactly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705352&highlight=root
and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695048
After these steps i realised that my girlfriend wanted to call me but it was a missed call so i tried to call her back. And HERE IS THE PROBLEM: when i touch on the button with the green phone icon before starting to call anyone my phone collapsed and reboots itself.
Well i dont know if the problem comes from the root (maybe i did something wrong but got good result) or from the 2 apps installed with cwm and there i made some mistakes :/ well i dont know i think i did everything well but as i said i really dont know what the problem is.
Please help me!! Thank you in advance
Post the links of those two apps properly... Unable to click them directly
And as you said your phone is NEO V or Mini Pro
then why did you upload the "neo v" "latest mini pro kernel" :what::sly::banghead:
Specify your phone and kernel properly or upload a screenshot
And if you have you have installed mini pro kernel in neo V or vice versa
Then flash stock firmware via flashtool
Sent from my Smultron running CM10
I have mini pro(sk17i), but as you know mini pros dont have 4.0.3 kernel and rom cause the first ics was the 4.0.4 so i just chose a random 4.0.3 kernel (neov) and rooted that one and after the root i put the original sk17i kernel 4.1.B.0.587 back. and after that i got root permissions in my 4.0.4 ics phone with its official latest kernel. Thats all. I just followed the steps to root. and now you can see the apps' urls
Another bad news: when i plugged in my phone to raise the battery's levél the phone rebooted again

I think you installed an inappropriate kernel for your device...
Download the stock firmware for your device... Flash it via Flashtool
Then again unlock your bootloader
And this time install any supported kernel like Kamarush v3 or Kernel Panic... I mean any prerooted kernel... And after you get root access just switch to latest firmware... And .587 is whole new stock firmware Not kernel...

but i also havent tried to install that app which you Predator offered me :/ im afraid of having another problem :/ and i also dont know if my phone (sk17i) is capable of running walkman player app or such as walkman player :/ pls correct me if im right or not
Hmmmmm.....
1.flash stock firmware into your XMP...
2.unlock the bootloader...
3.flash any custom kernel that have pre-rooted and CWM....
4.problem solved....
Btw, correct me if i'm wrong but isn't flashing other kernel (neo v in your case) is proof that your phone bootloader is already unlock????
My bootloader is not unlocked because im having a vodafone phone so not an unlocked phone :/ And i heard that unlocking a locked phone is very difficult and dangerous :/ ....
Hello to all of you,
This is a tutorial on how to REINSTALL on official ICS rom.
If you have problems with flashing other
kernels and roms and you don't
have make a full backup to restore as I did ....
I had my st27i unlocked bootloader and
flashed with rooted rom .
And now it's new again to restart testing roms ...
This is about unlock bootloaders
and how to relock them
so you can make your phone new again
and restart flashing new roms .
Or if you must go to service and you
want your guarantee back ....
I'm not responsible for any damages.
At first you need to install flashtool
and manualy the drivers that you will find inside
the flashtool drivers folder.
http://androxyde.github.com/
Then you must download
st27i_6.0.B.3.184_Original.ftf
thanks to DJ_Mike_Jams
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933192
And
ST27i_XPERIA.cz_relock_bootloader.ftf
thanks to Jozinek
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1799005
And put these ftf files into
C:\Flashtool\firmwares
Now follow the steps :
1. Open flashtool
2. Connect your phone on flashboot mode
(pess volume+ and plug usb)
3. Wait until your phone connect with flashtool
4. Press flash button and select flashmode
5. choose the st27i_6.0.B.3.184_Original.ftf file
and start
6. You will see a message
7. You must unplug your phone and replug by
pressing volume- key
8. when flashing done reboot your phone
9. Then do again steps 1,2,3,4,and
10.Choose ST27i_XPERIA.cz_relock_bootloader.ftf file
and start flashing
11.Do again steps 6,7
12.When flashing done reboot your phone
13.Connect your phone to SUS (sony update service)
and take the update to
ICS Official firmware.
14. ENJOY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'M NOT A DEVELOPER
I HAD FLASHED boot image + CWM Touch recovery v5.5.0.4

what you should have mentioned in the op that at the moment there is no way to relock xperia go on ics so you have to downgrade first to gb so that you can relock yout bootloader( during the ics update the bootloader got changed so someone needs to make ics bootloader locker ftf) .

yes, as I know there is no ics boodloader locker until now .
and these are the steps that I followed .
So if anyone need to use the warranty I think this

I hope someone make an ics

I'm not really sure , but I think that you can skip to step 9 .
If you read the thread where the ST27i_XPERIA.cz_relock_bootloader.ftf , is ,
you will see that you must NOT have custom kernel in your phone ,
so if you have untouch and stock rom ,
then this ftf file must work for you .........

Ok!! many thanks ! i'll do this evening. :good:
So I want to install a custom firmware, but this is my first phone with a locked bootloader so if you'd review what I've gathered about the subject and correct it, it would be grand (I've already flashed a different stock firmware and rooted it btw, but that as far as I've wanted to get until now).
I want to flash JB eXperience 2, and from what I can see this would be the steps:
Load up the rom in the SD storage.
Install a stock b 1.54 rom like this one with flashtool.
Root the rom using flashtool (I'm also unsure abuot this step, saw some weird stuff about rooting this version).
Install this particular CWM with the included bat (this is the bit that makes me a bit uneasy).
Load CWM and flash the custom firmware.
I'm asking because I've read stuff about replacing the B 1.54 kernel by the one on B 1.10 and stuff like that, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me, and also, the experience howto is made for unlocked phones so I'm a bit unsure and I'd really rather ask than have my phone bricked
thanks!
Do this
Flash B.54
Flash B.10 kernel
Root
Flash B.54 kernel
Install cwm
boot into cwm
flash the rom
reboot
thats it
simple

Hi,
I have tried the binary's method but it didn't work either. I've been looking all over the xperia u forum's but I didn't find a solution...
It appears a message saying:
"mount: permission denied (are you root?)"
I am on FW 6.1.1.B.1.54. I also tried to flash it to kernel 6.1.1.B.1.10 but it also appear a message saying "ERROR: Aborted" on flashtool.
It's an Xperia U ICS 4.0.4 Vodafone PT with bootloader locked. Thanks a lot

Try this........ Link
See the quote in the thread.....
I have trying to flash the kernel to have the 6.1.1.B.1.10 FW installed, but I'm not able to do it through flashtools... It appeared an ERROR message after pressing the vol - button and connecting it to cell...
Anyway thanks for the help!
Edit: could the problems be because of windows 8? I mean, does flashtool works fine with windows 8? Thanks..

win 8 should not be a problem if u have drivers installed. which version of flashtool u r using.
I'm using the last one: 0.9.10.1 64bits.
I think I have the drivers since when I connect the device, windows asks what do I want to dowith Xperia U. It also works with PCC. But when I used flashtool and I put the device in flash mode, when I connect, it appears a pop up saying windows doesn't recognize the device.
Is this normal?

u installed drivers in, <installation path>:\Flashtool\drivers, goto the bottom when it starts and install flashmode and fastboot drivers too
Yes, I installed the drives on that folder you pointed.
But the fastboot drivers I think I didn't... How can I do that?

The kernels where a bit of a pain in the ass to find by their own though.
