So I try to connect to my wireless network at home, and wireless is working fine. But on my mini, after I attempt to connect to the network, i t just stays stuck on 'obtaining ip address'.. Is this what u all are getting as well?

Strange, mine aquires ip pretty easy.
You do have dhcp running on your router right?
I have a hidden ssid and mac address control activated on my Wifi network and I noticed that the Wifi cuts out on my fascinate after about an hour of standby. It's set to never disconnect. The other problem is it only reconnects if I go to Wifi settings and rescan. I also changed the number of channels to 14. Anyone having similar issues?

Anyone with the Amaze 4G for T-Mobile USA notice that it often doesn't connect to remembered WiFi networks even though they are in range and it will only connect if you go to view WiFi settings/networks under settings then it connects?
Also, anyone have any issues connecting to WiFi networks where the SSID is not being broadcast? I can get it to connect initially but it will never reconnect to a hidden SSID network that it "remembers"?
Using stock gingerbread ROM.
I notice this happens every now and then... I will have to open my WiFi networks, then before I can click on the network, it refreshes. It happens only rarely for me, but I have noticed it at times

I am using a Samsung Galaxy S3 on 4.04 on my home wi-fi using WPA2 with AES encryption.
When I download anything large from the play store or use torrents the wi-fi disconnects and reconnects.
I should be able to download without my wi-fi connection dropping.
If I change my router settings to use WPA and TKIP I can download without my wi-fi disconnecting but this isn't a good solution as my wireless speeds are slower using WPA.
Any advice please? I have tried 2 different routers and the issue is the same.
None of my other devices have any issues pc, laptop etc when downloading while connecting using WPA2 and AES.
Can anyone check if they have the same issue please, using say adownloader download a torrent and make sure you're using wpa2 and aes on your router, keep the screen on so you can monitor disconnections.
Thanks

same issue here, but only on a router running dd-wrt.
My other router with wpa2 does not disconnect. Are you on dd-wrt too maybe?
Same issue for me, with 2 differents rooteur... (WPA2)
Trying to disable wifi offload and wifi save mode without resolve the problem...
Futur upgrade should resolve it...Hope...
Yep, I can confirm I'm having exactly the same issue. At home I'm using a BT home hub 3.
At work its just a generic netgear.
I'd just like to say, well spotted. I didn't even think to change the WPA2 to WPA.

Hi, no news?

when using a BT homehub 3 I found I kept losing wifi signal it just kept dropping out, then I tried this....
From your phone dial screen dial *#0011#
Press button to right of home button (menu ?)
you will see a list of options, press wifi
you will see a button marked 'on', around half way down the screen on the left.
Even when I turn wifi sleep off, this button says that the sleep function is on.
Turn it off with a single press, then press return button untill you are back to your home screen.
After doing this no drop outs !!
If you turn handset off at any time this resets and you need to repeat the steps.
Thank you for answer, already done but sometimes is enought to keep connectivity, sometimes not... Keep thinking is not à real fix... But you're right, it's seems to be better like this...

how to set a static ip on the s3???
I am having serious wifi issues on my T-Mobile P769 20f Jellybean which makes wifi pretty much unusable.
I have the following advanced wifi settings:
Keep wifi on during sleep = always
avoid poor connections = disabled
wifi frequency band = auto
When I am connected to wifi it will be for no longer than a few minutes before the connection drops. Sometimes it restarts on its own. Sometimes I need to kick it by toggling wifi on and off.
When I am connected I have piss poor link speed, only 5 mpbs. The connection is very slow. It took me on the order of 5 minutes today to download "wifi analyzer", an app which is less than a megabyte.
When I set wifi frequency band to 5ghz, I don't even see the 5ghz network which my dual band router (Asus rt n66u) has created on a separate SSID altogether. I only see my 2.4ghz network but trying to connect to it by clicking on the name does nothing.
When I am connected to my 2.4ghz network I have changed the ip settings from DHCP to static and that doesn't seem to help as other threads I have read suggest. My connection still frequently drops.
Finally I wish to try changing the wifi power saving setting by dialing *#0011# but that just yields "invalid MMI code".
Does anyone have any ideas? I am at my wits end with this wifi that is unusable and I am currently roaming so cannot turn on my data. It seems to me that this is the infamous Jellybean wifi issue but maybe not.
Any help is appreciated.
Yeah jellybean has a lot of problems, ice has the best Wi-Fi driver. I think wind 21b has good wifi, it's been awhile since I've been on that Rom, so I might be wrong. Maybe we can port the wifi driver from ice to the jellybean, not sure if we can though.

It may sound stupid but have you checked that your router firmware is up to date? Other than that I would try a backup if the problem wasn't pre existing. Last resort reflash it.

I had this problem whenever I have any "battery saving" app running (Battery Saver, Juice Defender, etc.). Turn them off and have my wifi on all day (or maybe using Llama / Tasker to turn wifi off at night) solves my problem.
