Hi guys,
I have a samsung S2 with Android 2.3.3 - I9100DDKE4
The problem is due to some reason the USB does not work and the ota update says no update available. I want to upgrade to newer versions of Android. However without the USB Connection i cannot.
Can some one please suggest how i can upgrade may be through the SD Card. Is it possible.. Also can you please suggest the steps.
I would really appreciate help on this... Thanks in advance
Since you just want an upgrade of stock ROM.. You can just drop by the nearest service centre and request for one. Simple.

Thanks for your reply taking it to samsung means sending the phone away for 15 days ... cant do that ... is there an option where in i can upgrade through sd card ??

I dont think the India version got an update to anything more then 2.3.3
Sorry Dude You can't do it Without USB Cabel..
Contact your Nearest Samsung Service Center....

I am sure they have... may be not the latest one but definately higher than 2.3.3
Just one question... there are a number of posts suggesting to root the device through sd card and then flash rom by sd card with new versions llike the andriod 4.2 supernexus and extreme... Wud some one please suggest if that option can be considered??

Alrite.can someone please clue me up if possible? I got an s3 on contract from t mobile in the uk.set it all up.checked the about device & there was no system update at top of list.also my phone number was not showing ,just 0000000000.& says I'm not connnected to internet when I was.the phones being replaced Tues.is there a certain firmware no I should have or anything like that? Its not a branded phone.I don't have a PC & am pretty new to it.any info needs not a prob.thanks for your time & hope someone can help me out as I don't want t mo mugging me off with some dodgy phone.

System Update removed by network in some cases .
No such thing as should have firmware .

Thanks.like I said I'm new to this I didn't know.it's just my s2 has it.does that basically mean I could never get any updates?!

You get updates when and if your phone provider updates .
Or you join XDA users and flash stock rom when you want .

i have a 3 mobile one is based on 4.0 Operating System, another are 4.1 and 4.2... if i am going to update my "Maps" 1) Location and 2) navigation icon disappear in 4.0 & 4.1 OS, and 4.2 is working fine....
Does this problem is only associated only with my mobile or with yours???....
plz help me... and give the answer

its a problem with your phone..... U should try to reinstall or update (if possible) the firmware/OS of your phone which will probably solve the problem
And one more thing.................... Next time u post a question....its a humble request from me that u mention the phone name/brand/model No./root status/ and any other thing if necessary.....this makes the problem clear and chances are that you will get better solutions for your problem..

did this happen with you??? after update the maps your local icon disappear in 4.0 ICS
no it didn't....................I live in india and did not have any official update available...so I manually downloaded the t-mobile US update and installed it by first rooting the phone ,then doing S-OFF,and then installing it via custom recovery i.e. 4EXT RECOVERY..........which is probably the same thing as updating it in the US with the official t-mobile update....
And if you don't understand any of these terms.....please feel free to ask me......I'll be more than glad to help you out
i rooted my phone and it was fine then i was trying to unroot it and i actually did..then i waned to upgrade the frame thru Samsung Kies so i connect to samsung kies and it tells its not supported which it was supported before the rooting process i need help to flash it back or to restock its ROM so i can upgrade the frame thru the Samsung Kies

yes it will disable the auto update thru the network..

Ok, direct to the questions.
I just upgrade my s3 gt-i9300 to a custom rom and it got softbricked.
I search anywhere to fixed the problem via odin and ota, but still cant fixed it. Pit problem and so on.
After all of the time i wasted, it still not solved and still stuck into samsung logo.
So, i decided to repair it to the technician. The technician said, my phone cant be repair using software , so he's gonna change the 'ic' of the motherboard. The cost is RM250.
The next day, my phone is done repairing.. but now, my phone version is only ics 4.0.4.
So the technican said, my phone cant be upgraded anymore. He said whenever u change the 'ic' of the motherboard, it wont be upgraded anymore.. so i got angry and said, why didnt he tell me before .... so, anyone can help me??? Is that true? Or the technician just troll me so i can send my phone to him and he got money more? Im confused about this.. anyone pls.. thanks a lot..

First of all welcome to xda. I've requested this thread to be moved to the troubleshooting thread cause this is the General thread and not meant for questions such as yours.
As for your question... I don't think he changed your ic just like that he may just have flashed a stock ics rom on your phone so he may had charged you quite a bit. You can always upgrade the 4.3 when you use ODIN if you want to know more there are stickies you can start here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/frequently-questions-t2148708. Also be careful on flashing custom roms always make sure that it's for the GT-I9300 model that you have.

Thank you for your answer. So, can i upgraded my s3?? Coz the technician said that my phone will be damaged if upgraded. I still worry about this. By the way, is it really true that whenever the ic of the motherboard changed, the android can't be upgraded anymore??? Pls help me..
Maybe he changed the motherboard, maybe he didn't. It wasn't repaired properly, leaving it on 4.0 and telling you not to update it means the efs is patched to get it working, this might be your old motherboard with a bad fix or a 'new' motherboard with a bad coding of your imei and serial number.
Either way the technician isn't capable of repairing the phone so best try getting your money back, use the update excuse as a lever.
Leaving the phone on 4.0 will mean sds happens, as that version has a bug that kills the nand memory.

having issues with my galaxy s3, need to upgrade it or something. I need a new upgrade phone but can't afford to upgrade to a new phone at the moment, can someone help.

Not much detail in ur statement. Is ur phone rooted? If not, root n install a custom Rom
