Greetings all,
A couple of months ago I adopted a sickly XT910 Razr Maxx off a mate who was sick of it locking up and rebooting. I like a challenge but this one has beaten me
It was on ICS when I got it and would lock up and reboot whether being used or not (installed bootlog to check for reboots). In use lock ups would occur occasionally when scrolling through contacts, pulling down notification bar, playing music (awful stuck CD sound) infact anything could cause it but it couldn't be forced. Sometimes it would be fine for days, other times, minutes.
Rooted phone and tried some different ROMs. No change. Did notice though that having installed Safestrap 3.11, it did on one occasion lock up whilst in safestrap making me think this is a hardware problem.
Installed JB update when it became available and all was well for a couple of weeks.....then it started again.
Fastbooted the en-EU image and lost root. Problem persisted.
Today got root back using ubuntu (see Thread: Root XT910) It locked and rebooted in Safestrap again and also using poweramp.
Is there anyway I can test hardware to see if the issue lies there now I have root?
Any other suggestions greatly appreciated!
Bump since I have a similar issue.
My fathers old Droid Razr Max randomly reboots as well. It has the most current factory update, and I did a factory reset over the weekend. It even does this in Safe Mode. It has happened a few times when using the phone dialer, and possibly when hitting send to send a text.
Any ideas? Such a strange occurrence. Maybe i'll have him replace the dialer program (if that is even possible)

Hello, I'm a new android and xda user. I tried searching for a topic like this but wasn't successful. I've had my atrix for 3 weeks now and I've been noticing that the touchscreen goes through bouts of unresponsiveness but if i have to change the orientation or turn the screen off and turn it on again or just type with my other hand (screen wont respond if i press key with my left hand but will if i use my right and vice versa) the screen will start working immediately but that doesn't usually last long and I'll have to rotate my phone around multiple times to type a text when i have this problem. Is this normal or do I have a defective phone? I noticed that on the latest update they did mention something about fixing problems that causes the touchscreen to be unresponsive but i have not noticed an improvement. I believe this is more prone to happen when the battery is at 30% but it could just be me having selective memory. lastly, it doesn't seem to matter how much i'm using the phone. could happen when nothing is running and i'm just trying to send a text.
I'm using a stock phone with whatever is the latest update for it with att and no screen protector. Thank you for any help!
Similar Issue
I used to have a similar issue, according to the Motorola site they fixed that issue in the latest update..... version 1.57 or something?????
Well either way the problem still persisted for me until i tried out the GreyBlur rom.... ever since i've updated to GreyBlur 2.1 and haven't seen the problem since.....
Points:
1) Motorola knows about the issue.
2) GreyBlur seems to solve it... (for me)
Today my X2 started having some random reboot problems.. Only thing I can think of that started it was yesterday evening I installed Lookout security.. Was wondering, is anyone using Lookout and if so, are you noticing your phone having random reboots?
Also would like to know if anyone else is having them as well.. very possible it is something different.. The wierd thing about the last reboot it had was it acted like it was a partial reboot.. What I mean by that is instead of showing the Motorola splash screen for the X2, it just showed the X2 boot animation then the Notification LED displayed a solid green light (Kinda like I recieved an email/text except it wasn't blinking). Anyone else see this happen and if so do you have any apps like Lookout installed.

Are you rooted? Stock phone? I know some people were having issues with random reboots and either a factory reset solved the problem or a new phone resolved the issue.
I am rooted.. it seems they stopped after uninstalling lookout though..
I'm stock and have had Lookout installed for just about 2 weeks and have been fine... until I update my bank of america app and installed titanium backup (in anticipation of rooting over the weekend). After that, it's been hit or miss. I uninstalled TB, but still have the problem. One day I'll be fine and the next I'll have 2-3 reboots or severe lag. I'm using launcher pro with the new blur app draw and have noticed I can't add apps to my home screen. It F/C's everytime. i have to use the LP app drawer to do this now. It worked for about a week without a problem. The only thing that keeps my hanging on to this phone is the hope we will get a SBF soon and Liberty will pump out rom for us. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
The only reboots I've had were with the camera app. Fixing the lag and LP problems can be done by installing Script Manager from the app store, then downloading the V6 Supercharger script and choosing option 6. Reboot, run it again, option 6 again. Each time you reboot, just give the script a run. Cleans up a lot of the performance problems. It's recommended that you NOT have the script automatically run at startup in case something goes wrong. You must be rooted.

Ok. Problems I have encountered the 2 days I have used the phone:
Constant freeze. The first hour I used the phone it froze and rebooted 7 or 8 times.
Missing SocialLocation.apk. This caused a problem for the GPS in smart actions to work at all. Rooted phone and installed the app, and problem disappeared.
Tried to hard reset the phone because of all the rebooting problems. Guess what, on the first menu coming up where you can choose language, the phone froze and rebooted again. Now still it is constantly freezing and rebooting.
The freezing issues does not really have one specific app causing it. It can happen whenever doing whatever!
Anyone got a solution for this? Maybe a OTA update for Norwegian model?
Well, as my dad's phone is still fine as of now with not a single reboot in 2 days, I'd suggest you get in contact with your carrier and ask for a replacement. This seems to be a phone defect and you should be able to get your replacement easily. Be sure to not mention rooting and installing SocialLocation.apk though!!
You rooted and removed some files from the System, did you not?
I've had this phone for more than a year and this behavior started a few weeks ago. Between 1 and 3 times per day my Atrix 4G will reboot itself. It doesn't seem to have a pattern; sometimes it's sitting in my pocket or on my desk, sometimes I'm browsing or using another app—suddenly I hear the boot sound and am like WTF. The only thing I can think of is it has to do with data because several of the crashes occurred when a webpage failed to load or Google Maps was hanging, but that could just be a symptom not a cause.
I did a factory reset and while I was downloading my apps and syncing contacts, it cycled, and the reboot pattern has not changed since (average once a day but as often as 3 times a day). So I'm considering rooting and putting CM7 on there, but last time I tried to root an Atrix 4G it bricked, so I'm a bit hesitant. I'm running 4.5.145.MB860 with Android 2.3.6. Any suggestions for a solution or stable ROM?
Better yet, any way to look at a crash log to see what might be triggering the reboot, an app or command or something?
Hi,
I'm looking for some general advice and troubleshooting for my phone's issues. My phone started crashing very often, sometimes at complete random, as well as when I was using it fairly heavily (any app that froze my phone for a second before loading before the crashing would now crash my phone). Sometimes it would reboot fine, other times it would bootloop once or twice before reloading fine. I previously tried doing a factory reset, removing my external microSD card, and updating everything via Kies and nothing worked.
I got bored and rooted my phone, did a full wipe, and flashed the latest Infamous update. The problem was still there but it wouldn't crash as often while using it because my phone could handle higher app activity but it's still there. Oddly enough, after flashing Infamous, it often fails to reboot and so I have to do a battery pull before turning it back on, otherwise it won't even vibrate after holding the power button.
I'm just wondering if you guys have any idea what the issue could be. Is it likely still something I can fix? Is this potentially a battery issue or is it a hardware issue?
Thanks so much!
