I recently moved to a new carrier that is just rolling out its AWS network. So, for the first time, I am experiencing frequent reconnections to the network (it just barely reaches my basement, for example).
It seems there are Android bugs that only show up under repeated loss/regain of signal.
One common experience is that without a manual reboot or reset of the radio, the phone won't reconnect even if you move into an area with high signal. For a list of experiences going back a while, see
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2845
I've also found that upon reconnection, GPS often doesn't work -- by that I mean that apps that make calls to the GPS receiver can't initialize it. No icon in status bar, etc.
Anyone else with similar experiences, tips, tricks, etc?
Once again, this is an issue that only seems to affect folks that are frequently going in and out of cell signal range.
Whenever I use radio streaming apps (be it Tunein or others) on LTE, it buffers every 5 seconds. The weird thing is it only happens when I turn the screen off, if I have leave the screen on, it works a little bit better, but still more bufferring. I never had this problem on my iPhone 3GS, which was on 3G data. At first I thought it was the battery conserving that's causing this. But turning that off did not help either. And this problem does not occur when I'm on wifi... Any idea the cause and solution? Thanks!
Having recently upgraded my phone I found myself with a Razr Maxx that no longer had phone service. Deciding not to use my brand new phone for workouts (runkeeper, or music playback while lifting) I basically re-purposed my Razr to function solely as a GPS tracking, wifi enabled, media device. The only bothersome quirk I've noticed about deciding to do this is that it's always running on Cell Standby with 0% signal time which seems to eat away at the battery. Putting the phone into Airplane mode apparently also kills GPS because Runkeeper won't grab a signal while it's on, but as soon as I turn it off I can find a lock immediately.
So, that's where I came up with my question of topic. Is it possible to remove apk's via Titanium Backup, or even strip them from the rom file prior to flashing, so that my phone would retain Bluetooth, Wifi, and GPS functionality while completely removing all Phone, APN, and MMS dependencies?
I tried removing all of the APN, Phone, and MMS apks from a rom prior to flashing and everything seemed to work just fine except I couldn't get a GPS signal lock.
For this to be a plausible avenue of exploration, I absolutely have to have GPS, Wifi, and Bluetooth. If those three aren't possible, then I guess I'll need to look for another solution; possibly something I haven't considered yet.
I have a Moto Z Force (Droid), and got the OTA update for Nougat about a week ago (build NCL25.86-11). Since the update, I've had a lot of problems:
* Wifi issues: Right now my phone can't see any of the 10 or so access points near my house.
* Bluetooth Audio issues: Frequent skips listening to audio over bluetooth (every several minutes)
* Background Sync issues: Hangouts no longer syncs in the background, and Facebook seems to have occasional syncing issues. I get no Hangouts notifications at all (until I open the app), and my Facebook notifications are sometimes missing or delayed.
I think I may be having battery life issues with my Incipio battery Moto Mod, but I'm not sure about that.
Also, I can't remember if I tried this before the Nougat update, but when I'm using bluetooth and use voice commands to play music, all further bluetooth media plays back at extremely low (nearly inaudible) volume, even with bluetooth volume turned all the way to max, and I have to disconnect and reconnect to bluetooth to get normal volume on anything again.
I've tried multiple reboots, and a cache wipe. I'm pretty close to doing a factory reset, but was wondering if anyone else is experiencing these issues.
I am definitely seeing the Bluetooth audio skip - I downloaded my album off google play and had the same effect (verifies it isnt data connection). Skips and stutters on all audio - Pandora, Google Play, etc...
I have noticed WiFi issues - drops connection and comes back up
also getting zero notifications on apps.
Another issue I am seeing is the screen locking and becoming unresponsive - couple threads I have seen suggest this is caused by certain apps - so I am having to boot in safe mode and turn them on one at a time - friggin painstaking.
Definitely starting to miss my Note 5
By now I've no 7, but did you try to do a factory reset? I had similar problems with LG devices when upgrading vom 5 to 6. A factory reset resolved them completely. No fun to so so but ...
I've only experienced the Bluetooth issues. They went away after a reboot though.

I have absolutely no Bluetooth, cannot see or be seen by any other device. I'm exchanging it tomorrow.
Looks like my Wifi issue is not a Moto Z specific issue - it's happening exactly as described in this Nexus/Nougat forum post:
Code:

Perform a factory reset, then see where you are. Factory resets aren't as bad as the "old" days. You can pick your backup image date from the Google Welcome menu screens as you set the phone back up. If you use Nova launcher, import your saved desktop back up.
I've had the Bluetooth Audio skips as well. I also cannot use my camera about 75% of the time. It gives me the Camera error, Please restart the Camera app. I did a FDR and issues are still present.

wifi is slow used to get 218 megs down now only 136 down
I can add an other Bluetoorh issue. When I'm listening to podcasts while the phone is connected to the audio system of my car and I get interrupted by a phone call (which is also routed to the audio system of my car) after the call ends audio play back resumes for about half a second and the stops. I've to start it manually on the phone to resume. The podcast app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bambuna.podcastaddict) is in paused state.
I'm definitely seeing WiFi drops and battery drain and heat issues with my Tumi battery mod. Also seeing screen freezes requiring a power button reset. Am getting very close to factory resetting.
I'm having problems going from WiFi to data. If I boot up the phone, it establishes a data connection. After Wifi is turned on, data permanently turns off and can't be reconnected without restarting the phone.
Note that I am using the phone overseas with a domestic (Japanese) sim card. Just last week however, I was using a Moto Z Droid Play and had no problems whatsoever. The standard Moto Z Droid has more Lte bands as well, so this shouldn't be happening.
I'm assuming it's a problem with WiFi to Lte handover related to Nougat?

Rather than restarting, toggle airplane mode.

Actually that doesn't work. I tried it numerous times, along with disabling mobile data and then enabling it. I'm going to wipe the phone tonight and do a fresh start to see if that solves the problem.

Fix for wrong default APN Settings for O2 on Android 7.0 Nougat
After Upgrade to Android 7.0 mobile data did not work on german O2 Network.
After some research i found the right APN Option:
MVNO-Type have to be changed from IMSI auf „Keine“
Source: Giga.de - Android 5.0 Lollipop-Bugs & Probleme: Lautlosmodus, WLAN, Videowiedergabe & mehr [Ãœbersicht]
After that change another apn appeared called "O2 Internet", selecting it and LTE started to work as expected.
Hope that's help someone.
And here I was thinking this was the smoothest update on any Android phone I've received. I have no issues at all, didn't factory reset either. I also listen to podcast all the time over bluetooth, and never once did it skip. Maybe it's google music issues?
Also battery life has gotten much better.
Bluetooth disconnected issues for me via car Bluetooth since update.
any one having problems with sound cutting out on the phone only way to get sound back is by rebooting ?????????
I think the issues I'm seeing are due to overheating. Seems to happen after the battery pack charging kicks in at 80%. Anyone else notice this?
For the BT skipping/noise, turn off BT and turn it back on. That fixes it for me.
Don't know what's triggering it, though.
Hello everyone,
Sony Xperia 1 III (QX-BC52)
I found two problems or bugs:
1. PROBLEM WITH MOBILE DATA:
This problem does not occur on the wifi network, but only when the phone uses mobile data. I will also send you a couple of different videos that I recorded with the screen record application so you can see exactly how the problem occurs.
First, for about ten days, I noticed that the icon from 4g was disappearing from time to time, and then I tried for days to find the problem and to see when and why it disappears at times and somehow I succeeded in that. This problem is present in all applications when a video is played and the sound is turned up to maximum, as soon as the sound is reduced to about half of the icons with mobile data (4g) do not disappear and the mobile data transfer works normally without interruption, or only press pause for fix this bug.
I will upload one or two videos in link bellow with situation when I show this bugs:
https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyXperia/comments/vyc7r3
I will share list with all the applications in which this problem occurs that I have personally tested:
- Viber during video calls (occasionally)
- YouTube (every time)
- Facebook (every time)
- Instagram (every time)
In addition to this problem, I noticed that when downloading applications on the 4g network, sometimes the applications are downloaded quite slowly if we keep in mind that the phone downloads them on the 4g network. Sometimes it takes a few seconds to download a 20mb application and sometimes ten seconds, in both situations the signal is full.
2. PROBLEM WITH MOBILE NETWORK:
It also occurs frequently in areas where the phone mainly uses the 2G network, then the connection is often interrupted during the conversation, and therefore also during that period the phone cannot establish a connection, it throws out the message that there is no network even though the area is covered by the network.
I am noticing the same problem, so looks like its a problem with this update. Nothing to do with a particular region or carrier it seems.

My Sony Xperia 1 III is a model for the European market, and a friend has the same phone, but his model is for the Asian market. Both mine and his phone have the same android version and the same software version and he has the same problem, so it doesn't matter what market the phone is made. I tried with another operator's sim card, but the problem is still there. The problem is obviously in the software.
Yea i notice that too. i thought my sim card was bad. f###K after i just made the decision to say on a12..
My XQ-BC62 does it too. When there's loud midrange, LTE drops and the cell indicator flickers. Logcat is so junked up during playback that I don't even know what to look for.
If I output a square wave 22Khz sound, the audio power scales up and down and cellular cycles on and off. It seems like part of the phone is out of power and it's not managed well.
This is an incredibly stupid fault but good to know about. The last thing this phone needs is even more cellular drops.
Im having a problem right now, not entirely sure what exact market my Xperia 1/iii (XQ-BC72) is from, i think Oceanic? As i live in New Zealand but at the moment and for the last week and a half or so i havent been able to make calls and texts either fail a few times then send or take forever to send, its really annoying me cos i also have to use my phone for work, and when i cant make or receive calls most the time it sucks! Aswell as it will say "Calling" when i have Signal Bars, but wont make dail sound/go through or it'll just fail!
