Hi guys, I have some experience on xperia mini because it is my gf's phone and sometimes she leaves it to me so that I just flash something.
I remember when it was on gb: really smooth and fast, gameplay was awesome too, in stock rom and in modded rom.
Now it is on ics and it seems to be more laggy, battery sucker and with less stability. It is on stock rom with crossbreeder and lupus kernel, I've found this as the best ics combination for better stability but I remember gb was one other thing.
I haven't tried jb yet but, onestly, I'm not so convinced.
My questions are: which android version have you preferred? And why? Have you experienced my same sensations?

Im also having a Xperia Miniā¢ and received per-installed ICS..Stock OS is ok to me but limited features.Main problem is battery life.So I moved to a custom rom and then I start the flashing war .
I tried lot of custom rom's with varies kernels. I found some good custom rom's which can play HD games smoothly and with more features. So I think custom Rom's are good but still there are some bugs because those rom developers not from SE software team...
Btw,I think ICS is better than GB..Support applications,more features..etc
OP really the only way of knowing is to test/flash for yourself, better yet read thru the forums Development section. If you are allowed to test on the device...
There are to many variables involved in asking others what they prefer....usage/apps so on. Thanks

Hi All,
I purchased an X10 Mini Pro yesterday and I rooted last night.
I am now looking for the most stable ROM to put on my phone, I just don't know which one has had more development put into it.
Is it possible to use 'X10 Mini' ROMs on the X10 Mini Pro?
Appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction into which ROM I should put on my phone in terms of stability and functionality. Many thanks!
You can not use the rom from the mini for the mini pro...
the only advice is try them. backup your present rom first and then flash one of the few. try it for a couple of days and flash another.
you will find the rom that suits you most this way.
I'm using the Floyo rom and happy with it.
as all roms they are still under developement. things are not working random reboots may occur.
as said in other forums. there is no best rom. all roms are made to personal taste of the developer and that might you like more or less depending the rom. just try the roms available as said before. this is the only way.
read the threads about the roms they will give you all the info you will need.
@wilcovh
Okay thanks for getting back to me m8...
the most stabile and functional rom is the stock rom at this moment.
sorry guys, but you know it's like that. custom roms still need some bugfixes, but the progress is very promising.
hi,
you want a good and stable custom room?
well the best for now is the Foyo rom. it is almost bug free...(only 2 or 3 bug know bugs) and it have some themes options....
see the topic here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961783
Floyo v3.4 reboots often, but I couldn't find any other bugs. If you can (I can) tolerate these reboots, I think this is the best choice.
Temes
i cant boot to xrecovery after installed v3.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=951274
and instal xRecovery.
But xRecovery should be working after installed v3.4
Maybe you did something wrong.
There's no random reboot on mine using CM6 3.4, try to reflash your phone and then install 3.4, I didn't see any bugs imho. Instead complaining about the bugs for each rom, try to help the dev by supporting they work and help them find a solution.
Try 3.4 for daily basis it's quite stable. CM7 V5 is still a little bit buggy in some vital section.
Hey guys...
I know it may seem a bit strange to post here since i own an HTC DS
but i am an old X10 user until i've lost it 1,5 year ago..
Anyway, i have this friend of mine who would like to have his phone
Rooted and run a new ROM on it.
Since i have much more experience in flashing and programming he
asked me to do it for him.
So you will be asking now, where is the problem in all these?
It has been a long time since i've changed phone and the rooting method
has changed i guess...
Can someone provide me an easy way to get rooted since it is NOT my phone
and i dont want to get in trouble?
PS. I've checked most of the roms in the forums, since i cant test them and etc,
Can someone tell wich is the most stable XperiaS looking ROM for x10 ?
Root using Flashtool, then install any ROM you like, i'd suggest you use Cobrato's MiUI or DonutHD or FeraLab, these three are the most stable in my own experience, i only installed these for quite a while, other members may help you with their opinions on other roms
good luck!
Most stable rom as used before is Oodie X prime MiUI, kernel based on developer (ooDie kernel) So its stable, smooth and fastest without any problem. Then i switch to Feralab V20 and using now stable , smooth without any FC. Use ThKernel 029 or ThKernal v12-4, both is very good for Feralab v20 ROM.
U should try
ahhh thank you guys but im looking for an XperiaS-themed ROM
is there any stable one? i've seen some in the development forum but,
i cant test them xD
I would undoubtly say DiXperia, I have used for quite a while, it has the Xperia S look and feel, it's stable, fast, a great one! you can't find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1557455

hmmm thank you mate, i still have some days to decide what i will be flashing on his x10, ahhh i miss my x10i,
even if DesireS is pretty amazing even after a year of having it
Fera V20 with ThKernel 12-4... perfect!!!
Ok, basically a long story cut short. My Xperia Neo is a bit of a mess. I upgraded to ICS but the phone lagged lots and just runs far too slow. I tried downgrading to Gingerbread but I have some weird version with chinese symbols etc. I'm one of these idiot newbs who thought they knew what they were doing but clearly don't.
I tried searching but got confused by all the different roms and kernals available. I was just wondering if someone could let me know what is the best Rom and Kernal for my phone is keep it running sweet.
Thanks lots in advance.

It depends on ur usage All roms on development thread r good
each rom has unique features and styles So depends on ur use
If you don't want any trouble, use any stock based rom.
Im currently checking these out..
JellySandwich http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880321
IceCream Pureness http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737862
both seem good but cant decide which one i want
I'm on JellySandwich with Nightelf Kernel and it's just awesome.
Jellysandwich , Ice Cream Sandwich Pureness
I had both , and both of them on Night Elf Kernel.
I found ICSP very laggy (until I Flashed the JB Adreno Drivers) which made it smoother but is a pretty neat ROM overall (only thing is that I Don't Like those square icons) ,
JS is VERY smooth, with all those JB Adreno and Tegra 3 Scripts , It's really good , BUT the Aroma Installer is a bit confusing , so I've Installed and Reinstalled the ROM quite a very large number of times which made it quite buggering just like rite now, I'm using it (the last update 6.2.5) aaaand I don't have Gtalk , which I selected on the Aroma Installer, but I DONT have it , and I have XDA apk, which I Didn't selected!, and just a few things like that...
Which I Don't like about them both is that I Can't use the Music Info Download in either of them. which is pretty lame.
another Good option is the X-Gamer ROM which I liked a lot, the only thing it lacks is the ICS UI but it's a pretty good ROM.
Overall good gaming performance, and VERY stable.
battery Life was good too. but as I said is a GB ROM so ICS UI is just NOT there...
and about those Chinese things its just because You flashed and CN tft (it's like the official ROM but...for China)
you have to flash the Global .tft (search for it on google , like ... "Official Gingerbread Global Xperia Neo .tft " or something like that )
should arytgma
I'm right now on Ice Cream Pureness 13 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1738055 and The Alliance kernel 1.5 by Night-Elf http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566871 and it seems pretty good to me :good:
Try by yourseft
All of custom rom in this forum is very good.
recommended: use GB for NEO/NEOV if you want stable, fast, good battery. Try T0x1c V8 or codename 9.1 rom.
Hello friends,
never tried rooting any android as of yet, but my phone has gone painfully slow now forcing me to do something.
i would be grateful if i get a help/ recommendation is choosing the ROM.
I want a light, fast and stable ROM but don't want to scarifies any features ( e.g CM7-ZMOD CYANOGENMOD 7 says no tethering (both wifi/usb) )
my only usage are call/sms, occasionally taking picture, videos & playing some light games like candy crush.
im zeroing on ****FeraLab*** FeraKernel-JB-v4
update:- frealab, 720p video playback don't work and so as capture
please suggest me if in going in right direction is it advised to install JB ROM in X10 kepping the stability POV ?
Thanks in advance.
I wouldnt flash a jelly bean Rom, but if you did so it would also handle your tasks.
For all features I would recommend DiXperia 7 and finally you could use a gaming Rom as they have least stuff but best preformance. On jelly bean you could use xposed as well

Ditto @keenofhiphop.
I wouldn't flash/install any ROM other than GB.
There are many reasons to install a JB ROM, but mostly those looking to install a JB ROM on an XPERIA X10i never identify any real reason, they just think they need JB+
The best ROMs and Kernels for the XPERIA X10i are all GB based and to date I know of no ICS+ Kernel that supports 2D Hardware Acceleration for videos and etc. This may change if @FeraVolt and others are able to modify the Adreno 200 drivers to support 2D HW acc in ICS+
I too would look at a gaming ROM for the least system overheads.
There is the newly created GB FeraKernel v14.1 and FeraLab ROM v30.2 which I have tested and know to have a very responsive UI and good 720p 2D video playback.
I use DoomKernel v6 and @Tof37 X10S ROM (FeraLab based) with a heavily modified build.prop which provides a similar experience to FeraKernel v14.1
Having a Class6(or greater) microSD card and offload(I use Link2SD) as much as you can helps, as the X10i built in flash only has a read of ~6MB/sec and a write of ~3MB/s. Compare this to a SanDisk Extreme 64GB card which I ran for a while in my X10i which gives a 20MB/sec read and 13MB/sec write.
I'm currently using a SanDisk Ultra 64GB card which provides a good cost/performance ratio. 17MB/sec read, 7MB/sec write
thanks @Dr Goodvibes and @keenofhiphop for inputs.
I was thinking as JB is more polished and is newer i am thinking to go for JB if i flash.
but since HW playback & recording is not available i would probably look something else other then Feralab...
i have 1 doubt at this time... do we have to flash with the latest Kernel first & then the ROM ? is it possible to revert back to old kernel at later if i change rom ?
sorry for my noobish question but im flashing any android rom for first time

True, JB has many advances in performance, security and interface options/features.
However, hardware development/drivers for the XPERIA X10i stopped at GB 2.3.3
Many of the JB performance features do not translate into real performance gains for the XPERIA X10i due to hardware constraints.
Thus GPU HW acc and camera (which is bound to the GPU) suffer. Also WiFi is 802.11g, Bluetooth is v2.1 and etc so any JB ROMs have to be retro fitted to accommodate these services.
Many developers do an excellent job of building JB ROMS and Kernels for the X10i, but they do come with some caveats and these should be understood before one installs a JB ROM.
One good thing about the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10i is that it's a very good development platform and very robust and very hard to knowingly hard-brick the device. It can always be restored to a Sony Ericsson default firmware of GB 2.3.3 at any time, with a PC and a USB cable.
When you root the device you can install CWM recovery from flashtool and then using CWM Recovery to backup your system and thus provide a quick and easy way to restore a ROM even when you're not able to successfully boot Android, but still have access to CWM recovery.
If you can find an old version of flashtool circa v8, it has more features for the XPERIA X10i as newer version of flashtool don't have these services as newer phones have rightly become the focus of Flashtool now.
I would suggest FeraKernel v14.1 and FeraLab v30.2 ROM as the best first ROM, as there is currently a lot of development around this ROM/Kernel combination and thus you'll have tens of people to assist you if you have questions.
This doesn't have to be a long term commitment as you can always flash another ROM/Kernal at any time, but it does expose you to a better understand of flashing Kernel/ROMs and etc.
I would also suggest looking at unlocking your bootloader on your XPERIA X10 as this has no negative impact that I know of and also allows you to install a greater range of ROM/Kernels which rely on having an unlocked bootloader.

Thank you very much, @Dr Goodvibes, those are exactly the words boosted my confidence to go ahead & flash. and as you said once i finish a single flashing process successfully i would be more confident in future flashing,...
:good:
A word to the close: @Dr Goodvibes I totally agree to you, a found that in jb you could notice project butter and it worked really smooth but! it drains the battery a lot more than GB and there are several problems with hardware as mentioned with camera and gpu.
I think feravolt is one of the last Devs that really develop in the X10 but I could never really be stratified with his roms, as they look very mixed up from different mods. Which is off course a cosmetic thing but I didn't like it. I first flashed DiXperia 7 about two years ago and was totally happy with it, but as I am I was not stratified because flashing is fun I can say I flashed my X10 probably about 150 times, maybe more.
It was pure fun
Two months ago it finally gave up, it's on fetakernel and doesn't get flashed by Flashtool. (it was time for a new one)
However I hope you'll have a good time as I did and unlocking the bootloader only had advantages add is easy and offers you full customization.
And have a look into uot kitchen
It was the best about GB^^

i failed to install XRecovery though but CWM is installed so i am fine i guess...
hello guys , i am gonna talk about the arc s and what is the best rom for arc s i will not put any links if u want the link of any rom i will talk about just reply what rom do u want
of course i cant say what the best rom is because it depends on your using of the phone but if u like gaming and performance u better downgrade to gingerbread 2.3.7 and install gb rom its faster in games gives u the dual core experience such as :
atomic gb i personally tried this rom it is great but what is bad about it that there is alot of applications requires 4.x + android so in that case try cm9 ics its not bad.( better than cm10 )
if u like multitasking there are a lot of good roms for u cm isnt one of them ..... xperia ultimate hd is good in multitasking and giving u advanced settings , its not good in gaming though
jelly bean roms for arc s are not fast and smooth like ultimate hd and i think its because the arc s is only one core and cant handle the jelly bean since there is no official update i tried racing bean it is not that good and lighting cm .. alot of bugs , and u have to flash a diffrent kernel.
another problem is battery life it isnt good in any of these roms, except for atomic gb and the stock rom ofcourse i dont know why but maybe the overclocked kernel may cause it.
i wrote this thread by my personal experience i tried all these roms and more and these information i dont know just by reading threads , its like a year of experiencing and trying to make my arc s better .
if i helped please press the like button
if u have any question ill be happy to answer them

CM10.2 (Android 4.3) is running pretty good. I gave my Arc S to my Brother and he says that it is running fine.
Btw. I dont want to be rude, but please use more "." and ",", its very challenging to read your Post if anything is in one sentence
But 4.3 is running good, for Camera usage i recommend to download the Playstore App "Camera ICS", that should do that.
(If it isnt already fixed somehow.)
Cheers, ShockBuddy
i tried 4.2 cm on my arc s , it wasnt that good comparing to cm9 4.0
i tried alot of rom and cant find the best one there has to be something in every rom a bug or something
but i see videos of arc s running custom roms and running smoothly and lag free so i am looking for the best
Thank you
