Bootloader locked and s-off - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

So i used the Viper Ruu to get back to stock and now my bootloader is locked, but I am still s-off. My question is how do I go about this to unlock my bootloader and flash twrp? Just want to be sure and not mess anything up.
Thanks

Use the VipeRUU to toggle S-OFF back to S-ON if you're looking to go S-ON again. Use VipeRUU to unlock bootloader and flash recovery.

You can use HTC Dev to unlock your bootloader. Then you can flash TWRP

[Q] how to change from unlocked to locked?

I'm currently s-offed and running 2.01.605.11 gb ruu.
Now I need to use the warranty so I need to change the status s-off/unlocked
to s-on/locked not s-on/re-locked.
How can I do that?
the fact that you are S-off doesnt matter as some devices shipped are s-off but to get to locked run the same gb ruu again but dont unlock.
but if you really care about it saying s-on follow the instructions in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612937
since you are on stock hboot you'll be fine with these instructions

by doing this, I can get the s-on, but still I can't get locked.
I need to know how to get locked on the bootloader to use the warranty.
Find a thread that has the correct hboot for your firmware then go to fastboot and type
Code:
fastboot clear cache
fastboot oem reboot ruu
fastboot flash zip (zipnamehere).zip
Then wait a little then do
Code:
fastboot reboot bootloader
That should do it and also I'm not sure it there's a space between reboot and ruu so try both

1. do the s-on process
2. re s-off (this will give you locked bootloader)
3. s-on again (to get rid of s-off)
4. ruu to latest offical release

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25165453
Then do the jouponut s off method. Flash files as ph98img after if you choose not to change to a eng hboot.
I had to find this out the hard way since was one of the release day 1 s off users an unlocked thinking a ruu would revert back to locked.

All of this going back to s-on is not necessary at all. Just flash the same hboot like I said before and you'll be fine

So if I'm unlocked only, no s-off, just find my hboot somewhere, rename it, flash it, reboot and I'm factory stock?

my first post is the only way to get to 100% stock that i am aware of ... if he is unlocked he will have to s-off to get it to say locked and then s-on to get it back.
if he locks it with the fastboot command it will say lock and if he is s-on not sure but i know if you are s-off you will stay unlocked or relocked even if you flash new hboot's
Thanks if i helped

Locked bootloader

I just flashed the global RUU when i was s-off and now it says that my hboot is locked but yet i still have soff and my recovery so whats up with the locked bootloader and do i need to unlock it? cause ive had problems restoring nandroids so i had to flash a rom from scratch
Edit: found out i couldnt have a space in the naming of my nandroids, so everything is working perfectly well with the locked bootloader

hmm okay cool makes my life easier, thanks!
The RUU gave you a new stock hboot.
You have two choices. Either unlock the bootloader, or install custom hboot that is a proper replacement for the version of your stock hboot.
Personally I just unlock the stock bootloader and all works well.
I think most people here use a Jbear modified hboot which can do unlocked functions while locked. "See Ma, by bootloader says locked, I'm a good boy" kind of attitude.

s-off> lock / unlock
so it doesnt matter if your phone is locked or unlocked. s-off removes the need for unlock giving you full access to the phone and not just an unlocked boot loader

What are people doing when exchanging their phone?

I think my wife's Rezound is starting to have issues. It is randomly freezing and you need to power it off and on for it to come back. Even happened right after a clean flash while in the setup screens.
I do have ICS on it and my bootloader is unlocked and I am s-off. What are the steps needed before sending it back to Verizon and has anyone had any issues when sending the device back after re-locking it?
I looked for a thread on this but had no luck on a step by step process......
Appreciate the help in advance.
Reflash the factory RUU and then revert to S-ON. If your bootloader is unlocked, you'll need to relock it before you flash the RUU.

Where can we get the latest update RUU? Does it need to be flashed in the bootlader screen? How does one get back to S-ON?
So step one is to relock the bootloader which I know can be done with the tool.
Then flash the RUU, (waiting for correct way)
Then back to S-On (waiting on instructions how)
i'll help
Are you unlocked or locked?
You are s-off right?
What is you're hboot? is it modified?
I am unlocked
I am s-off
Not sure which hboot I am on. Can't get my wife's phone right now. I am not on the latest hboot I don't think but the one right before it.
As far as it being modified, was that something it asked when doing the s-off? If yes, then I believe I did it. Can no for sure tomorrow when I check the device.
Relock with the toolkit or with "fastboot oem lock"
Latest OTA RUU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810931&highlight=+12+ruu
How to S-ON: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25167284
Do it in that order
Search is your friend.
Also, when you S-OFF, it will relock your bootloader. You do not need to unlock it again. S-OFF > unlock.

[Q] Relocked or Locked?

Hello!
I own a HTC EVO 3D (GSM) and I have to send it back for warranty purposes (my speaker is broken). I was S-OFF using Revolutionary.
Now I have stock ROM, stock Recovery and I'm S-ON, but it still says RELOCKED in the bootloader. Is there anything I can do to make it LOCKED?
If this question has already been asked, I'm sorry, but I haven't been able to find it.

Thanks for quick response. I have another question though. How can I flash lock_bootloader since I have relocked bootloader and no custom recovery? Do I have to unlock bootloader, flash a recovery, flash lock_bootloader in recovery and then my bootloader will be locked and I will have the standard recovery image?

The lock_bootloader.zip file only works if you are S-OFF because of the partition it updates, in which case you would need to install a custom recovery, flash the zip then run the RUU and set S-ON to get everything back to 100% stock. If you are S-ON you would have to do the wire trick to reset your bootloader status to "locked", then flash the RUU and set S-ON.

Thanks a lot for your answers

Restore Phone to not Tampered and not Unlocked

I'd like to restore my phone to its absolute default. I would like to return my phone tomorrow. Can you help explain to me how a rooted phone can be restored?
WARNING: If you have flashed a custom bootloader make sure you flash it back to a stock bootloader before you do S-ON or you WILL brick.
First read the revone one thread on how to lock everything back up. First and second post have all the info you need to make it look untouched.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582
Then flash the RUU after you have S-ON and Locked in the bootloader.

Do you have hboot version 1.44? If so run this from bootloader:
fastboot oem lock
Then run the ruu. If you're s-off check the thread designgears just shared with you and go s-on last.

He should use revone first to make it look untouched because the motochopper root method is blocked. Otherwise he will have to go back to the state he is in now and do it all in the right ordered

ah, you are correct.
Many thanks to you both. Mission accomplished. I re-rooted too afterwards.
Sorry for the newbish questions, but if I'm getting a replacement phone because my screen cracked and I need to send my current phone back to Asurion. I'm currently on the 1.54 hboot from the international firmware, so do simply need to flash back to the stock 1.44 hboot, use REVONE to revert to S-On, lock the bootloader and then flash the RUU? Also, can I flash the decrypted RUU zip instead of the RUU.exe after I've relocked the bootloader? I'm a Linux user and would prefer not having to install Windows to bring the phone back to stock.
