I cannot get out of a Google wakelock. Bookmarks, contacts, calendar, books, services, play store you name it. Freezing apps is not releasing it, rebooting is not releasing it, force stopping apps is not releasing it, turning off auto sync is not releasing it. Deep Sleep battery saver and Greenify aren't remedying it either. I can't figure out what else to do. My phone has been kept awake 4.5 out of the last 6 hours(same thing yesterday). Weird fact,,,,under Accounts when Google sync was broken(red sync error message) I did not have any of these issues. Now that it's green and supposedly working I'm stuck in wakelock. Any ideas??????

Have you tried to clear dalvik and cache in recovery, then fixing permissions, after that clear data on wallet and set it up again, hope this helps...:good:
Nah that didn't work either. I think it's having something to with with Deep Sleep Battery Saver turning airplane mode on when I'm at work since the signal here is horrible. Leaving the cell signal on seems to have fixed the issue. Weird I've never had this issue with this set up in months. Alas, battery life is better with the cell signal on than off with the wakelock for now, but still not as good as airplane mode without the wakelock. I guess the Google sync is freaking out since it has no way to sync in airplane mode where as before when sync was showing broken it didn't matter.

Hi,
Whenever the "Use wireless networks" setting is on under "Location services", I get constant "nlpwakelocks" and battery drain.
However, I see that this was supposidely fixed by Google: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/05/29/download-latest-google-play-store-4-1-10/ (my version is 4.3.11).
Does anyone else have this issue? I've only started looking into wakelocks and have had the phone 5 months and have never had better battery than with this option turned off. Yes the simple answer is "turn it off", but I find I can get location locks quicker with it on, and also my phone can locate me when indoors.
I use Google+ location services so I can locate trusted friends (and they can locate me), and previously Google Latitude, but surely they shouldn't be constantly requesting my location and Android should prevent this in someway?
Cheers.
I too suffered this issue (several times on different roms). Nlpwakelocks appeared in an insanely high abundance (several thousand wakelocks in a single day).
My first fix consisted of uninstalling all updates of google play, google services framework and google play services, clearing caches and deleting the data of the before mentioned in Appmanager, then do a reboot and re-install the updates again. Magically, the number of wakelocks dropped to a quite acceptable level. It still was the major cause of wakelocks, but it didn't drain the battery nearly as much as before. Since then, I had the "Use wireless networks" setting enabled without heavy battery drain. I could happily live with this result.
However, since I updated to 4.3 (CM 10.2), there's no longer a button to uninstall updates of those services in AppManager. Luckily though, clearing caches and data then reboot seems to suffice now.
The only caveeat seems to be google maps. Since the update, you need to be logged in to your google account to see your favorite places in google maps. Unfortunately, maps then begins to poll your location every few minutes, thus raising nlpwakelocks to an alarming level again.
Since I've not found a workaround for this yet, I always logout of google maps after use and login again when needed. Not very comfortable, but this way I'm still able to use Google Now while experiencing an acceptable battery life.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
I've been having problems with deep sleep with wifi on at night, draining 100%->60% overnight.
I've been troubleshooting, and found out it's WLAN_RX_WAKE wakelock being toggled thousands of time overnight, so I set out to find the culprit.
With Shark for root, I noticed that there were 1-2 IP's that were mostly sending packets to my phone and googled them and it turns out the IP's belong to "GOOGLE".
In BBS, i noticed in data usage, that google search and google were the two apps using up data overnight (when I didn't touch my phone.)
So is it safe to say that google search is the cause of the sleep-deprivation my phone is getting? And did anyone else have similar problems? I don't necessarily want to freeze google search because I use it often enough for voice commands, but I guess I might have to if it's the culprit. Otherwise I'm at a loss. Any ideas?
More info: Location is off, no sync going on, no e-mail sync either, etc.
Hello! I bet you have seen this a heap of times. Well guess what, so have I. Alas, nothing has been found - I checked Android Central, the T-Mobile and AT&T websites and all sorts of other techy places but to no avail. So here I am, scavenging information, doing stuff to my phone - I am finally to the end point - writing a post myself.
So, heres my problem: awful battery and when I charge while using the phone, the battery goes DOWN!
Lets start with this
What I have done:
Factory reset
Cleared cache
Deleted every program (app)
Airplane mode
No sim card
Downgrade to 4.1.2
Rooted and calibrated battery
Full discharge to full charge
Now please check the eye candy down below in the attachments..
So.. What else?! It isn't a hardware problem because when it is turned off and charging, it seems to be fine.
Some system specs:
Galaxy S3
International
OmniRom 4.4 (btw, this ALSO has drain, I install hoping it wouldn't)
Wrong section just post in q& a section...
Install BBS and see what's eating your battery..

Go into Google Settings and Turn Location Reporting Off. If you want a more agressive power saving go into WiFi settings and turn Always Scanning Off.
Clean
I had this problem of the phone discharging while charging (no pun intended) and the only solution I found was to clean the phone's USB charging port with an Contacts cleaner Spray (the one that has a "pipe/tube", let it dry out and clean the usb plug likewise. That solved my problem. But mind you: my problem was phone discharging while charging

Thanks for the info. I did both, yet, noticing a little less awaking, it still drains when charging and rather abnormally when not and just using it. The only thing waking my phone up now seems to be Google Search? (in wake lock detector) Cant anyone explain that?
Install an app disable services and disable Google services which are active in background... But disable then one by one as it may affect your play store functionality...

using wake lock detector I noticed the apps name (google search) was com.google.android.googlequicksearch... but, using a service disabling app, I couldn't find that name under the system app ''google search'' tab?
*EDIT: I tracked all the wakelocks (ALL of them) and they lead to location services! Simply turning it off gives me no more wake locks. Not a permanent solution as I am completely unsatisfied, but a temporary one nonetheless. Going to keep monitoring battery as it seems to be fine, but I haven't nailed down the discharg while charging problem yet...
Hi,
I'm having battery issues with OPX again, first it was a faulty battery, but now it looks like the there's something wrong with the settings. The device loses about a third of it's battery overnight, but when I look at the stats I can see that WiFi is always on and the device is always awake!
I have installed naptime as well and told it to ignore sensors (not that it matters as the device is not moving overnight) and to sleep even if connected to a charger etc. No matter what I try the device is always awake.
Is there a way to find out what is keeping it awake?
When I look at usage since last full charge there's nothing unusual there, just regular apps and single digit percentage numbers.
Thanks for your help!
System version?
I'm on Android Marshmallow, using Resurrection Remix ROM.
I'm not quite sure how to use the wakelock blocker, but I just installed Wakelock detector and it shows TripAdvisor as #1 on the list. I have it blocked in notifications, but I can't find anything related to TripAdvisor in wakelock blocker.
Is there any way to prevent apps from keeping the system awake, or should I just unintall TripAdvisor completely?
Not sure if I'm on the right track, but something is keeping the system awake and I need to find out what
OS3 with google back up turned off I get zero drain. Maybe 2-3℅ max over night. Also turned off automatic updates playstore. With just those two things off dont see drain anymore might just be lucky.
Well I think I'm back on normal drain. I uninstalled TripAdvisor, not using it except when I'm on holidays. I disabled the option to keep WiFi on even during sleep.
I used wakeblocker to block all weather/facebook entries, and I have two gmail accounts, one which is use a lot and one which I don't - so I blocked all wakelocks from syncing the account I don't use often.
Battery history confirms device is now correctly going to sleep and turning off WiFi. Automatic updates are still on.
I probably blocked too much, but I don't care anymore, I have 30% more battery every morning and that's good enough for me

Which ROM and recovery do you use?
Good Day all ,
for those 2 problems the solution is very easy ,
1-for the google play services , if you find it on top of the consumption list , just enter settings - apps - choose google play services - clear cash then storage & manage data and clear all cash & data , it will be fixed nearly 99% of the time,
for general exynos bad consumption the real solution to this is to enter settings - general - reset - then reset settings & accessibility & network then factory reset , and DO NOT restore APPS and SETTINGS again plz plz ,
just restore your Messages if needed & restore you contacts from imported file to SD card for example or from google account , but don't restore any apps or app settings & download them again as new phone from the play store & samsung store
you will find all problems with battery is solved & no heating up etc.. and no complains that the exynos is not as good as SD855
How big difference did you notice?
hm..maybe... but there's clearly something wrong with how the exynos is interacting with the software right now. Because SD855 users are having now issues no matter how they set up their phone

I reset my phone yesterday and despite heavy use and being 15 hours off the charger, I have almost 7 hours of SoT on my 855. That involves a lot of app downloading, creating caches for apps I use, clearing some to re-set some things that I changed, and 5 or 6 reboots.
My S10e is getting so much out of my little battery.

the phone now goes to deep sleep properly as per CPU SPY , whenever i leave my phone for a while it enters deep sleep even if sync & location is on etc..
also the overnight drain on airplane mode goes down from about 6 or 7% in every 7Hours sleep to 1 or 2% max in the 7H sleep.
No DEEP SLEEP - EXYNOS
I did a full reset and after that no DEEP SLEEP neither... I'm trying to figure out why is happening
Just a heads up to everyone if you have high google play services usage it is most likely due to a rougue 3rd party app. In my case it was a battery monitoring app causing the abnormal usage and battery drain. It was causing google play services to always be active, after uninstalling the app the battery drain and always active usage of google play services is gone.
In my case I found what is causing the issue, after I did a video conference with Whatsapp or Google Duo, it never enters in deep sleep again, I should reboot my phone to make DP working again... very nasty bug
