Hi everybody,
I've been searching on forums, tried multiple solutions but nothing helps. Though I'm familiar with all this, I'm just stuck on one point which makes all this unlocking process very frustrating. My phone is a Xperia P (JB) and I went to Sony's dev page in order to unlock the bootloader. Unfortunately, even if my phone is eligible for unlocking, I just cannot pass one of the point: fastboot mode.
Basically, when I power on, vol up, fastboot mode is enabled for a few seconds only (led) then disconnects from my device manager and stays with an amber (orange) led on. I just can't have my phone stay in fastboot mode. Same if I go with the command line adb reboot bootloader...
After looking for this problem on various forums, I've tried to update the drivers to (S1 fastboot) found on multiple posts, didn't help. I thought it was a problem with my PC (Win 7_64) so I tried with a fresh install in 32bits on another disk, didn't help. Tried even with Win 8 64 and 32, no chance... USB debbuging is on.
Is anyone experiencing the same problem or has anyone a solution for this? I'm just getting mad by not being able to unlock it.
Hi! I think that the driver is not properly installed! Another site I found this description to see if it helps!
Install Sony Xperia (P / U / Sola / Go) Driver and fastboot in Windows 7
Sony Xperia Driver Installation
Go to Setting > Development
Check USB Debugging
connect Xperia (P / U / Sola / Go) to PC / laptop
Open device manager
Right Click on SEMC HUSB (it should have a yellow triangle warning)
Then select “Update driver software”
Choose “Browse My computer for driver software”
Choose “let me pick from list of device driver on my computer”
Click “have disk” button
Browse to Xperia_P_Xperia_U_Xperia_sola_drivers extract folder
Select sa0104adb.inf
Approve all confirmation
Click OK
Sony Xperia Fastboot Installation
Turn off Xperia
Open Windows 7 device manager
Press and hold Volume[+] Sony Xperia button
Connect to Pc / Laptop
Right click on yellow triangle warning (device warning)
Choose “Update driver software”
Choose “Browse my computer for driver software”
Choose “Let me pick from a list of device driver on my computer”
click “Have a disk” button
Browse to fastboot driver extract folder
Select android_winusb.inf
Approve all confirmation
Done
Note:
A sign that fastboot connection is success is LED will stay in purple
In fastboot installation, open device manager before connect the device is a trick. A yellow triangle (device warning) only appears around 5 sec
It`s better to restart the windows after driver and fastboot installation
Download Support Files
Download Sony Xperia (P / U / Sola / Go) Driver
Download Sony Xperia Fastboot driver
Hi Rajen,
Thanks for your help... I've done all this before, repeated it now step by step but no luck... Cannot have my P to stay with purple light on (fastboot). It still stays purple for 3-4 seconds then amber.
Any other idea?
@swissman you should open device manager on Windows 7 first then connect your phone......when its connected youll see anerror or something sign there and click it then choose install driver from pc......navigate to those drivers and Finish....hope this helped....

Hi! Thank you... I really did that... I think almost 20 times but nothing helps. I think I've done almost everything possible (Imagine, thinking that it might be a 64bits issue and Win 7, I've even tried to downgrade to Win 7 32 and Win 8 32! ..
But nothing helps. It installs correctly the drivers, computer reboot (or even not), replug the phone with Vol up and still getting a 3-4 seconds purple LED and then disconnection. I'm getting mad as I tried almost everything I found on XDA or others but nothing helps.
The only thing I haven't tried yet is to downgrade to ICS, try to unlock the bootloader and upgrade back to JB
Ok, I finally have been able to unlock it. What I did, VM with Windows 7 64, booted in fastboot and updated drivers with "Android ADB Interface" drivers from Google directly (not the one provided with SE modifications)... My phone stays now in fastboot and has been successfully unlocked.
Don't ask me how it did happen, I'm just being happy to have it fully under my control
Anyway thanks guys for your help!
When the purple led doesn't last it means you haven't installed it correctly......the thing we are teaching you is I think, a shortcut method, just in order not to install to many files.......so I recommend installing the whole android SDK if you have time......

Warm regards to the community here. I'm using Samsung & LG android devices past 2 years, with lots of custom roms and kernels; but have no experience dealing with Sony device. I am currently helping one of my friend to install Cyanogenmod on her Xperia mini pro sk17i, and help is required. I assure you, I won't have flooded the forum with a new thread if i'd found the answer. So hoping for a gentle guidance..
Here is what i did :
I followed the instructions given at Sony's website from step 1 to 12 : http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
- I checked that Bootloader unlock allowed is "Yes", and managed to get my unlock key from Sony.
- I downloaded and installed Android SDK manager, also downloaded Google USB driver package revision 4. Also, i managed to download the zip file from Sony and successfully copied & replaced the android_winusb.inf file in the instructed folder.
- Now, at the step 13 mentioned in the guideline, i'm really stuck. I turn of the phone, press & hold volume up while inserting the usb cable.... there appears small blue light at the top of the device. But, nothing else happens.
>> I mean, the instruction says that i should be asked to point the drivers by computers, but my computer asks for nothing. I'm running on windows7 x86, intel core i3.
Please guide me what is going wrong ?? .... however, i should mention that my computer does gives me a notification sound, kind of what usually happens when i attach anything in the usb port.... but, on the screen, it shows no any notification or no any pop up... just nothing at all. I tried the whole procedure on an another computer running windows7 x64, intel core i5, but still stuck at the same problem.
Your help will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Have you checked "unknown sources" and "usb debuging" on?You will found them both in settings>applications if i translate it right from my greek menu

Yes, of course both things are checked. To test the things, i also checked upon SEflashtools, and the device shows up there. However, if i command adb devices, it didn't show up on my second corei5 computer, but id did show up on my previous corei3 computer.
I tried out almost all i can do from my previous experiences of dealing with galaxy and optimus devices.. yet, this one is beating me.
Use drivers and tools from this guide and post the results (also mount sdcard to MSC mode)
If link doesn't work download latest flashtool. On installation folder there is a folder named "drivers".Run the file inside.
you have to manually install the driver of your android phone, go to the device manager on your computer, it should appear as S1 boot Fast boot in other devices, update the usb driver with the dowloaded diver android_win_usb.
your device shluld appear as android ADB Interface then you can proceed to step 14 which sadly where I got stuck too. I can't get a a response back from the said step. inform me if you have luck on the next steps...

Maybe this video can help you.
Thanks friends. Finally got it working ! .... it appears it was surely driver problem. Tried all the given driver links and installed them, and at least one of them must have solved my problem.
Unlocked the bootloader, and flashed nightly 20. Returned the phone back to her.
Thanks again !

What worked for me:
I removed these lines from the INF:
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0FCE&PID_0DDE
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0FCE&PID_0DDE&MI_01
That worked.

how can i install drivers without connecting device?
I solved the problem)
1) Open device manager in windows
2) Connect usb cable to your phone pushing vol up button
3) Device manager will show you fastboot device for 2-3 sec (before the phone go to charge mode) Right click on fastboot device and install drivers from C:\Android\sdk\extras\google\usb_driver
4) Reconnect usb cable pushing volup button
I have the same problem but I dont know if cuz my PC is way too slow. I dont even have a chance for it to show up But I know it connected cuz of the alert sound.

Haha I solved my problem by installing the driver in safe mode. Things went much quicker here )
The solution that worked for me was:
Keep the Device Manager open
Connect the phone and quickly choose to change driver
Disconnect the phone again (because it goes into normal mode)
Choose to install a driver from the computer, choose "All devices" and "have disk".
Browse to the folder with the .inf
Now, before clicking Next, connect the phone again and quickly hit Next.
I think it took me two hours of googling and trial before I could finally get a custom ROM installed...

BTW, I used the method with the Xperia Go, so obviously the method is not limited to a particular model.

Hey
I can't even know where will the fastboot device appear to change driver. What can I do? My sola goes in charge mode very quickly I plugged my usb cable in almost 100 times and tried everything.
Okay, I'm totally lost. When I hold volume down button "s1boot download" appers in device manager, but it can't install a proper driver. I know I need s1boot fastboot and hold volume up button but it doesn't appears. Only the portable device with an H:/ partition
Make sure phone is OFF
While plugging in the USB cable, hold and keep holding the UP VOLUME key
You will hear a system sound played
Do all these while you have Device Manager on screen
Exclamation mark appears on the ADB driver icon
Chose the option to look for the driver in your hard disk - point to where the drivers are.
If using Win8 then you need to disable signing of drivers first (search on net how to)
So far you managed to do this or not?

Hey, nothing is working for me. I did the steps above, but with no chance to install any driver. At the driver manager, the s1boot fastboot-thing is showing up for some seconds and then disappear. i can't change the driver or install the new one.
Any suggestions? I want to change to cm9 so much, because the stock rom really sucks...it is slow and buggy
Edit: I found this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554632 and it works for me!!!
Edit 2: It seems, that you have to do this steps everytime you flash the boot.img to the phone.
I did everything. I installed the driver but when I hold volume up while plug in usb, the led does not turn to BLUE. It turns pink or purple, some kind of colour. What should I do guys? I've gone mad.
Thanks

Doesnt work for me either. I tried everything for hours, but i only see a purple LED for a few seconds and then the phone mode changes into charging.
All drivers are installed.
Flashtool doesnt recognize the Sola either.
Is there a way to flash a recovery without having the Sola bootloader unlocked?
Greetings
still no fastboot
device manager opened
phone off, holding vol. up plugging in usb
NOTHING happens on computer no sound, device manager doesn't refreshes, no purple led on the phone, just enters charging quickly
tried another usb port
tried to enter fastboot from flashtool,
tried to enter with command adb reboot bootloader / adb reboot fastboot
NOTHING happens just reboots normally
So I don't have a clue what's going on there, may the fastboot disappeard or broken?
BUT I used the fastboot for a couple weeks ago in this computer in this usb port, since that I tried some rom does it matter?

Solution
For those who still dont get it to work by "Nerre's" method.
The procedure will be same. You have to download latest android_winusb.inf file. I couldnt get it to work bcz of this. I was using the file from sony site. It was giving me some certificate error. Then I used the lates file downloaded from sdk kit. Then this procedure worked.
Make sure to choose "Android Boot loader Interface" after you select ...winusb.inf file. Then before clicking next, reconnect your device in fastboot mode.
Hope this helps someone.
I'm trying to unlock my booloader, but every time I enter on fastboot mode, the phone restarts. What am I doing wrong ?

I believe so. My laptop says nothing now, and the cellphone just restart
Prepare like this before connecting your phone in fastboot mode:
go into device manager and keep the window open
now put your device in fastboot mode
there will be a new unknown device showing up at the top(mostly S1 boot device or something)
right click it, and select properties, then go to update drivers and manually point to the drivers you downloaded and extracted: http://bit.ly/As9FaT
install them.
if it doesnt work don't panic, dont close the window but get back to the properties of S1 Boot device and click on update drivers and point to the directory where the .inf file is stored.
now connect your phone until the blue LED shows up again and press the button to install the drivers QUICKLY, repeat this several times until it works!
Install theses drivers : (link sent by MP because of forum restrictions ... )
Deconnect your Xperia from your pc.
Shutdown your Xperia.
Hold the "volume Up" button and connect your Xperia to your pc. The LED may become blue and stay : your Xperia is now in "fasboot mod".

4. connect your Xperia S in fastboot mode (volume up and plug in USB)
5. in less them 3 seconds, hit right button on S1(something device with exclamation mark)
6. select "update drivers"
7. select somewhere\x64\usbwin folder
8. hit ok.
at this time your Xperia S will be allready out of fastboot mode.
9. wait for windows to install drivers

How can it be ??
Do 1 thing, keep your device manager opened, connect the phone in FASTBOOT mode and as soon as the Driver icon appears, update driver manually !! It's okay if the phones disconnects.. Once the drivers are installed, connect the phone again..

Dear All,
I have been struggling to install fastboot drivers on Windows 10 for my Phone (D6503) for almost a month now.
I tried many of the options suggested here like disabling Driver signature enforcement, using the drivers they suggested, etc etc but nothing has worked yet.
Sony Flashtool only recognizes ADB and not Fastboot.
Request for your inputs on this.
Thank you!
Are you using latest version of flashtool? I had this problem with the old version and then I installed drivers by disabling driver signature enforcement. Now it works fine.

I did try that, and it installs successfully (even with the old version) but FlashTool does not recognize the device in Fastboot when I do a "Check Drivers" in tool and cmd prompt as well. Am I missing something here?
What is the Device Manager entry for Z2 Fastboot mode ? (For ADB, I get sa111 or so)

It was a noob error on my part. I thought it will show both ADB and Fastboot devices simultaneously.
Now the Device Manager shows 'Sony Fastboot Device' upon connecting it in Fastboot mode. Hopefully I can now root it without any more problems.

btw, another similar bug is when you use FlashTools "Fastboot Restart" option, or Fastboot boot into recovery.

Only way to solve this error is by using another USB port on the computer.
