The original poster of this mod said its okay to share links the original OP.
If you haven't, try out this sound mod, V4A, the difference it makes is very noticeable, better than what others out there provide.
Check it out the original thread in the link below

This mod it's better than acid audio v7?
I'd say or might end up being down to personal opinion, but from my experience, when using the FX and XHiFi together along with the convolver ir samples then yes it is. It offers a lot more fine tuning.

I will test it
I tested all audio mods on xda, for me the best combination its perseus kernel with his audio driver + acid v7 + neutron player
Let's see what is viper
I can confirm, its better than acid v7, its very good
Sound its loud and very, very clear and much customizable
Great mod, thanks

Gonna try it for sure, but this line makes me scared!
If your earphone is not used to high volume/bass, with long period of high volume/bass will cause your headset to spoil (without V4A it will also spoil)

I haven't tried it with a kernel that has audio modfications to it, but its should work across all Android based roms.
The mods can be easily installed/uninstalled now, they are regular apks. Run in compatilbility mode if it doesn't appear to be working.

Gonna get rid of Noozxoide and try this out. Anything with APKs should be safe enough - thanks OP
PS: Sounds fun! Like it much better than Nooz.

Odd, I struggled to get rid of Beats from any devices I've owned including HOX and my laptop, but good to know that people are willing to voluntarily flash it on Note 2
Can vouch for this MOD, really fine and I'm keeping this on my Note II for a while

I don't see it posted much in Rez board, but this audio mod is the best. Much better than awesomebeats and others
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
I am still toying around with it, but with the beats headphones it is great. It has so many options. I run both of the apps together and with the IRS I am still trying to find the right one. (There are over 100).
If you try it, the drivers for the Rezound are Cortex 8/neon for FX and neon for xhifi.
I highly recommended this mod. Only drawback is that you have to reinstall after every flash.

i chose the XHIFI version for clear and better\customizable Equalizer compared to the Stock Dps Manager
FX uses more cpu but has better sound quality and customizable audio drivers. you can add different IR's
i use the crappy headphones that came with the phone lol ill be buying a different set soon
also i listen to Deathcore/Screamo/Chillstep-Dubstep/Trance-Techno-Hardstyle :good:
i Think im going to test the FX version though. you can mix both FX & XHIFI if you want to
no specific configuration atm. As im still playing around with it
have you been using it to?

Im using ZEN X-Fi All Off
Dynamic bass really makes a kick to
After I got my settings how I want them I turned off and on the driver to compare and the difference is big. I recommend everyone to use this over anything els
the future update is merging both versions into just the FX version.
Btw you need to install the driver every time you update your ROM.
EDIT: if anyone is trying this and wants a profile to try out, here is mine http://www.mediafire.com/?kxb7n35x4x1ps3e You need to have the "ZEN X-Fi All Off" ir before Loading the profile

did you uninstall the XHiFI drivers before removing the app? Btw XHiFI is being merged into FX so you dont need XHiFI anyways
if you didnt you can just reinstall the app and remove the drivers than remove the app again
in FX you should have installed with CortexA8 with NEON
and if its still not running in normal mode. try this
Open up /system/build.prop
Change the line Ipa.decode=true to lpa.decode=false If its not already false
im running mine in normal mode so its gotta be something
I'm having to suffer some PS Vita earbuds currently; these settings may help other low-end buds get a push too. Installed both apps on EclipticRez and using the Xperia Rev. 2 paid impulse response files for the convolver option.
FX:
1. Master Power: ✔
2. Playback Gain Control: ✔
(ii) Select Effect Strength: Slight
(iii) Max Gain: 4x
(iv) Max Output: -1.9dB
3. FIR Equalizer: ✘
4. Convolver: ✔
(ii) Impulse Response: Sony Xperia Rev. 2 ClearAudio+.irs
5. Field Surround: ✘
6. Reverberation: ✘
7. Dynamic System: ✔
(ii) Select Listening Device: Unknown Type 1
(iii) Select Dynamic Bass: 40 Percent
(iv) Tube Simulator(6N1J): ✘
8. Auditory System Protection (Cure Tech+): ✔
(ii) Select Binaural Level: Slight
XHIFI:
1. Master Power: ✔
2. Playback Gain Control: ✘
3. FIR Equalizer: ✘
4. Audio Reconstruction: ✔
(ii) Hi Clarity: 40
(iii) Lo Contour: 40
Edit: I currently listen to indie, acoustic, electronica, dubstep. And while the Xperia Rev. 2 ClearAudio+ setting for Convolver adds a nice touch for acoustics, I prefer Convolver off and ViPER Bass and Clarity turned on instead: Both set to Natural @ 8.0 dB boost, Bass set to 40 MHz. The ClearAudio+ helps create a studio effect with crystal highs and resonant acoustic elements, but it takes away too much from the mids for my taste.

There are mods for sound volume, but the Sony based ROM's (mine included) even CM based ROM's can't change what Sony have done. and the thing is that even companies like sony... all they can do is change EQ settings which they do with clear voice and +enhancement. So there isn't much we can do, because its all about hardware. The XU has ok hardware, but not fantastic.
So all you can really do is make a custom setting for EQ settings that feels good for you.

Android is fixed @ 44.1 KHz. I'm afraid that just resampling chain will be longer, and whole operation is pointless without kernel driver replacement. Right now we have 48KHz fixed hardware (by kernel driver), so....
Sound player -> any sound mod --- > 192Khz upsample ----> 44.1 Khz android downsample -> kernel driver 48 Khz upsample
All you can really try is this clean audio mod
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1Iy8gxK9tcZS1RhY0REaHFXQ2M/edit?usp=sharing
It increases the volume with clear audio and also increases the bass. But its still just EQ settiings. But with this as a base, you can also improve other settings in the EQ

I made three of my own mods to improve and tweak certain things on a Sony base. But the reason I don't have them in the ROM itself is because most people want to keep it stock. So then you can mod it they way you want. Of course there are tweaks within build.prop that do a lot, but not at a base level.

Well maybe, but given the option within that rom is a great thing to and also easy to get rather than search one forum at a time...yes it's good to keep it stock and like me, also like it that way but a change also recommended....if want stock, why flashing the same thing that what is already there....of course some stock rom like yours have modified to make it better but some little change is also good or given the option to do so within that rom....just my opinion....
Like me, I like it to have a theme, like different icon, added resize widget and maybe like Htc widget, more animation, different battery icon with percentage...just my wish list....some of this can be found on old phone but not today's....just miss it...if I have a skill to make my own Rome I will make it like that, but not possible by my knowledge....

zerromusic update
This is not my work. I saw mBear posted this a little white back for the Z1, and he gave me permission to post it here for the Ultra. Any issues comment below and I'll see what I can do....
Credits: @MightyBear007 & @ZeroInfinity
** NOTES **
- This mod will work for Locked/Unlocked Bootloaders as long as you have a custom recovery.
- The speaker's audio quality becomes worse as you increase the volume. This is because our speaker cannot handle the output i.e. loud volumes with increased quality. It is impossible to keep audio quality and loud volume because of our hardware. The Z1 and Z Ultra DON'T have a dedicated Amp inside it's chipset. So don't expect extreme loud sound.
- When playing music, it could take a few seconds to let Sound Enhancements load your settings
- If you are having audio skipping issues, make sure that you exclude: Walkman (If you have 2 Walkman apps, select the second one), PureXAudio Engine and MusicFX in STAMINA Mode so that the phone will not try and make it inactive. If you have Skipping in any other music player, add that in the exclude list of Stamina mode.
Features:
New Audio effects/presets (PureXHiClarity/PureXPsychoRealism/PureXBeats)
-Sony Digital Sound Enhancement Engine ported from Walkman NWZ-F805 (EXCLUSIVE TO PXA, STRONGLY ADVISE TO TURN DOWN VOLUME BEFORE ENABLING)
-Disabled Hearing Protection
-Slightly louder speaker, earpiece and headphone volume
-Improved ALSA with many plugins and custom configs
-32Bit Unsigned Integer Quantization
-256x SuperClock Frequency Audio Upsampling Quantization (11.6MHz)
-More Anti-Aliasing
-Even less static noise
-Improved audio resolution
-No Audio clipping
-ALSA which AUTO CONFIGS settings for your audio chip
-Re-Introduced ClearAudio and VPT Wrapper from Xperia V ICS firmware
-Qualcomm Audio mode set to FluencePRO
-Enabled Qualcomm Surround-Sound recording
-Wider and Clearer Soundstage
-Ultra Clear High Frequency treble
-Crystal Clear vocals and background vocals
-Alive, beating drums
-Less Distortions
-More Dynamic Range
-Very low audio latency
-System Wide modification - You don't need to press anything to turn it on
-New and powerful audio libraries
-NOT BLOATED WITH USELESS FILTERS AND FILES

Yes, I've been having similar issues with V4A on stock roms, although I got it to work with one music application (Play Music) in compatible mode. V4A worked flawlessly on AOKP roms though.
Gonna check this one out later as I need to have a working audio enhancing mod on stock.

It should be significantly better over low to medium sound volume. any louder and you will sound quite bad.
On my SBH-52 it is quite noticeable... sounds really good. Bass sounds punchier and mid range is good too. tweakers sound under done, but I think thats the whole point in the MOD

Viper4Android tunes up the whole ALSA Parameters
whereas this mod multiplies the frequencies and does some super sampling which can only be achieved in Sony Devices
As the title says, is there any way to route the other apps to use the sound enhacements? For example poweramp has a Music Fx feature, when activated, it uses the system's sound enhacements but youtube and other apps such as browsers have a low quality sound.
I use existenz premium lp.
I used to have existenz kk which had improved sound in all apps.
Simple. Should you be rooted and have recovery, flash any desired sound mod. If you are not rooted and have recovery, there is not much you can do...
I think you don't understand my problem. I already have two mods that give me exactly what I want but the sound effects are only available in Sony apps such as Walkman video album, and poweramp because it can be forced to use the system's sound.

I think you don't understand my problem. I already have two mods that give me exactly what I want but the sound effects are only available in Sony apps such as Walkman video album, and poweramp because it can be forced to use the system's sound.

Bro you really don't get it. Of course the mod gives a more powerful volume, I'm not complaining about volume, I'm taking about quality here. The sound effects do not apply to other apps. I'm a perfectionist and I feel even a tiny difference and believe me it's far from the best it can do (YouTube sound vs power amp/Walkman etc).

I understand now, lol. You want high QUALITY audio?
Well, on lollipop I am using Project PXBA™ 2.0:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/sound-mod-z2-z3-5-1-1-project-pxba-t3197101
Ps. You must be on Lollipop 5.1.1 in order for the sound mod to work correctly.
This mod is one of the best, if not the best possible mod should you want the best quality sound.
Here is what you get with the mod:
*Z5 Premuim latest build's Audio System
*Beats Audio
*htc boom sound effects with harman kardon
*Sony icx1237 scripts
*Improved ALSA with many plugins and custom configs
*Improved audio resolution
*Maxx , SRS & DTS to increase Bass & Clarity
*Stereo Speaker MOD (for Call)
*Enabled AudioPreProcessing features (auto noise suppressor & gain)
*Improved built in speaker and headphone's gain/volume
*More Dynamic Range with wider soundstage
*Best Asound (28224kHz 64bit) (Thanks Project Desire)
*Forcing 24-64 playback
*Highly boosted - X-Loud , Clear Audio+ , FM-Radio , Clearphase
*More 2x Power (lossless) effects than older version
*Work with Viper4Android

Not at all. Just far higher quality and far louder. Best of all you get dual speakers ringing when you get phone calls/sms messages and also dual speakers when using loudspeaker in a phone call!

I think you mean the equalizer setting.
As far I know, the global equalizer affecting all apps by default was removed by Google in Lollipop and instead the apps need to have option inside to enable its own equalizer or the system equalizer.

You may try my guide on how to make Viper4android to work with tunein (just go into my threads).
Tunein always didn't support any audio mods, but following my guide changes that.

I just rooted my Pixel 3 and one of the main reasons was that I could use Viper again. But to my dismay, it doesn't work! On top of that, I discovered that Viper has a maximum sample rate of 48kHz, which means I can't use my Sony speaker at its maximum potential of 96kHz with LDAC. So, I went looking for other audio MODs without this limitation and I stumbled upon Ainur James DSP. Now this works great, but it has a very annoying bug. Whenever a notification appears, the sound of the notification causes the music to stop producing any noise, while it doesn't even pause! Is there any fix for this, and if not can anyone recommend me any better mod?

Use a wide band dedicated EQ app for adjusting the sound to your own personal likings, it will literally help with improving your sound experience.

Thanks for your help. But as I mentioned in my original post, I wouldn't prefer Viper as it limits the sound sample rate to 48 kHz.

I thought viper was what you were looking for. Or is viper4androidFX different?
