Hey folks. I accidentally left my touchpad on an airplane. I see it still in my play store. Is there a way to see if it's been used, or if it's in use, and if so, where it is?
I would call the airline and see if they have it. Unless you have a locator app on it already and its connected to the internet, I dont believe there is a way of finding it that way. If the airline doesnt have it, I'd have to say its gone.

There is an app that can be installed remotely from the play store for situations like this:
Plan B
I hope you find it!
I copied this from their link in the play store :
NOTE: Plan B only works with 2.0 - 2.3 versions of Android
You have to remember that your touchpad has to be connected to the internet too in order to install things remotely. So you need to hope that 1. Your touchpads battery isn't dead. And 2. Someone has it connected to WiFi.

I am currently deployed to afghanistan and when I get my nook up and running, I check the market and it says no apps are available in your area. How can I get this fixed or a workaround? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
adb the apps over
Have wifi but Market downloads are being blocked.
I'm also in Afghanistan. I have wifi access but Market downloads are being blocked. They just hang saying "Starting download".
Is there another place I can get Market apps and download the the .apk file and then manually (adb) install them on my NC?
I'm running:
1.2
ManualNooter 4.5.6
Thanks.
There is an app called market enabler, not sure if it will help you or not, but it tricks the market into thinking you are somewhere or something else.
There is a site called Slideme, that has their own app market that you can download, I dont think anything on there is pirated, and it has alot of stuff.
Amazon has their own app store now too, go to their site enter your email, and they will email you a link to the apk for their store. Download and install, they have pretty much everything.
Good luck, stay safe, and thanks for your service.

there is also an app called location spoofer, it has worked for me within the states to watch blacked out baseball games. I here it helps with the Google Market over seas.
Google is very location specific for advertising, my guess is the market gets all screwy when you travel. Not sure tho..
I bet it was one of you NC owners over seas that put a plug in Binladens head! Nice job guys! Should go to the press and say "A rooted Nook Color troop dropped Binladen". You guys would definetely get laid!
First of all, my Photon is rooted and I used a couple of the updates from the photon android development forums.
It is getting to where there are just too many market apps that I can not download. Some come up as not compatable (while I'm 100% sure they are compatable) and others just straight up don't show. It gets real interesting when I go to the android market on the web and try to get the apps.
The android market thinks that I have 2 Moto photons. One of the 2 photons, it will in fact allow me to send some of these incompatable apps to and the one that google SEES me on is "not compatable". I guess the market thinks my phone became a new phone when I did one of the updates. But yet this new photon is not compatable with many apps.
I was using my Acer Iconia tab to help me get some of these apps to my Photon, especially some of the ones I purchased. But now, I have 2 Iconia tabs too (even though the second one is again, the same device.)
Is there anything I can do? I loved Android since the day it came out. But it's getting to where I almost don't want it. I need an outlet to get apps but I don't want to ask people to upload apks. I know about the amazon market but not every app is there.
Is this a brand based problem? Cause though I love the Photon, I would switch in a minute if this wasn't the case. But it's also happening on my Iconia tab and it's happening more and more and one thing I just won't do is start asking if anyone has apks.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
OK, this will take me a minute (if you want a real explantion, or just skip to bottom where I talk about App Brain). I am sorta like you, I'm well over 100 Apps and use SPB 3D Shell to keep them orgainzed.
As for usage:
My Music
My Radio
Pandora
YouTube
Work Adobe
Work Excel
Work PPP
Adobe (Work, IBM, Personal)
10 years of tax returns
Military Documents
Collget transcripts
High School Documents

I use my phones and like to keep them tight. I had and Evo and co-worker turned me on to App Brain. When I got Photon, I was in your position. I went to Market and more or less, installed everything I got individually.
You Sync App Brain, and when you get new phone, like I just did, tell it to put it all back (You still have to go to SPB 3D Shell and orgainze it, but it give you a start!)
Want more protection? Root it and get Titaniaum Backup, paid version!!! Backup all your crap each monday at 3:00AM (you know my schedule now), hook the phone up to computer as HD and move backup to your computer or USB drive (its not small!). If something ever happens to your phone, get titaniaum from market and use THAT backup to restore. The good thing about the paid version, not only will it put your app's back, it puts them back with the last configuration!!! Done!!!
Thank you for responding. But I do not believe that this helps. I already use Titanium Backup of course. But App Brain is just a market browser that still ultimately takes you to the market to download apps does it not? And the market will still list them as incompatable.
This is not going to let me download new versions of, for example, Swiftkey X, LCD Density, and even the ChaCha app. I would have to go find a friend who has a phone that's listed as compatible (even though the Photon IS compatible) and then back it up and transfer it. This makes for licensing problems for apps that I have purchased and I'm certain are compatable.
Because I can get many apps but there are many that I can not get, there is something that many developers do that apparently makes it compable with SOME Motorola Photons as far as the market goes. This is why I could easily download Titanium Backup but I can not download SwiftKey X which I paid for even though it IS compatable.
Can anybody help? I need a way to get apps that are compatible to the photon like swiftkey x onto my photon and the ability to keep them UPDATED. What I do not want is a way to keep them backed up, I already have that. I will switch phone brands if I need to but I absolutely require a phone or a fix for this phone on which this problem does not exist. Otherwise, it's useless to me as apps are updated often sometimes and I want those updates without running onto the net and asking people to please post an apk. Please reply if you have a solution. I am going to scream if I see that banner that says this app is not compatable with your phone again when market.android.com will send it to my older photon (which does not exist by the way. The market just recognizes my photon as a second photon after an update I did from the developer forums). Grrr, don't even want my photon now that the droid razor is out.
have you tried going into manage applications and clearing the data and cache from market. I had some problems with apps that were bought on both amazon and google and this allowed the apps to update from google.
Yes. I have cleared data from the market under manage applications. This does not do it. There are still apps that the android market refuses to let me install. Any such apps do not have an install or download button. Instead, there is just that banner on the very top that says "Your device is not compatible with this item." for many apps ever since I installed one of the updates and since then, I have 2 Photons listed when I look online. One of them, the android market will send these "incompatible apps" to and the other, it won't. Unfortunately, the device that android market will send the apps to is the same device as the one that the market sees as incompatible. It's like after one of the updates, the market reregistered my phone as a different phone. Same thing happened with my Iconia tab.

You try going online and deleting the phones from your google account then log back into the app market and download a simple app so it can register
I've tried. As far as I know, you can't delete devices from your account on the market. You can only hide them from showing up on the menus. But yes, I've done that. It doesn't help.
never mind, i see now'
So is there anything that can be done?
First of all what ROM are you on, what mods(build.prop), and have you wiped google services data?

Oh thank you thank you thank you! (and thank clicked as well!) It was awesome of you to find that. Just to reiterate in case somebody else finds themselves having the same problem, to reiterate so it might come up in a google search for someone:
If you have a Motorola Photon (or many other phones), and over time, you notice that something isn't right with the market and some apps that you always ran are suddenly not compatible any more and perhaps the Android market sees you having several phones, if you changed your screen density with a program such as LCD Density Changer, the android market now will see you coming in with a different phone. For example, according to the Android market, I have a Moto Photon with a density of 240 and a Moto Photon with a density of 280. Perhaps because of the criteria that some app makers chose, some of their apps (like Messagease for instance) may be compatible with a Photon with a density of 240 but not a Photon with the density of 280 (even though they do in fact work just fine).
So, the solution is this. Change your density if you like. But, to get those programs that may become "incompatible", switch the density back to the way that it was out of the box.
Thank you very much for finding this information! It helped a lot!
Glad to help
Is there an app or mod to allow Wifi downloads over 3g/4G? I want to get the amazon free app of the day but I'm nowhere near Wifi.
Any and all information is greatly appreciated!

Ummmm
Wat
Did you turn off wifi then try to download? Shouldn't need an app...
You mean the "wifi connection required" message in the amazon app store?
I don't know of a way to bypass that. You would probably need a hacked copy of the Amazon app store. I use my phone as a wifi hotspot for my wife's iPhone when she wants to download a 25MB app.
Or maybe its controlled by the app developer, the same title is free on the Play Store and is marked as wifi download only, and its only 26MB. I want to say I've downloaded bigger than that before on 3G.

Something like Cydia's app? I've been wondering the same.
yeah amazon app store is stupid and requires WIFI to download anything over 20mb's =(. I wish they didn't do this.
On Android market it only "recommends" WIFI but at least it doesn't enforce like amazon/iphone.
I'ved looked for solutions and have yet to find any =(. All in All, amazon appstore fails. Apps are so far out of date most of the time.
There was a 3D game pre-instslled on my Thrill. When you open it and go to play it you got a message that you need to download the rest of the game, about 400MB. They forced wifi as the only option, and the download would cancel (not pause, actually cancel and delete the partial amount you did get) if you turned off the screen. Just one of the many fails to throw at the Thrill.
It would be nice if the Amazon app store just gave you a warning, or an option to enable it. Like the notification options that just changed. It would also be cool if there was a widget you could use to trick the system into thinking your data connection was wifi.

Still isn't completely clear what you need. I'm thinking you need to change your Access Point Names (APNs) for your mobile internet settings, but then you're talking about your PC being online which would mean wifi. So which is it? If it's mobile data, then get on wifi, download Tweakker from the Play Store and it should walk you through what to do. If it's wifi issues, then you have to explain more about what the issue is. Does it not turn on? Does it turn on and not scan? Stuff like that. If it isn't wifi, then what does your PC being online have to do with anything?
erm...the jar of bean is a android emulator for pc....what i mean im online-ing is the pc wifi is connected....for the wifi in the emulator it cannot be turn on....and i saw the 3G sign beside the battery sign but i cant load any page in the browser.....so what can i do to connect the pc wifi with the emulator wifi so i wan go in google store in the emulator?
Ah sorry, yea, never heard of that emulator. Have only heard of the official Google one, Bluestacks, and Genymotion. Not really familiar with them as I've only used the native one a couple of times.
last time i tried to install the bluestack but it come out with the Error 25001. You seem to have Bitdefender antivirus installed. but i didnt install any bit defender anivirus...
Hi all. Running 5.3.1 unrooted. Installed the xda-labs app to run pokemon go and wifi tether off of my phone with wifi location on. "GPS not found" is at the top of the screen. So here's where it gets interesting. I have 3 fire hd6s for my girls. I installed G-apps (services, store, vending, and one other one) and ran Pokemon Go again. It worked! On one of the Fires... the other two not so much. For some reason the one that worked would bring up a google prompt to turn on location services with a different screen than you would not find within fire os. There must be two location services. One for Google and one for Amazon. Anyone know of a way (without root) to force google location services instead of amazon? Anyone else in this weird Pokeboat? Thx! SL0
UPDATE: Went to get the new 0.31 version from xda labs, but it wasn't posted. When I opened up 0.293, it asked to update the app and sent me to the play store to do the update. Previously the play store said the app was incompatible, so that was a nice change to know I had a legit version. I started up the app and still got No GPS found. I also noticed that google log in was not available from the log in screen... will try Play Games... maybe the log in will force the new location service...

Nope... well yes, on two now... the ones I wasn't busy installing and uninstalling. It could be because I loaded the google play stuff though APK instead of an ADB push. Regardless, the two that work are problematic because the location is based off of the tower where your phone is using the hotspot from. If that happens to have a pokestop there you're in luck. Walking around connected to a mobile hotspot doesn't really seem to be all that great. The juice really isn't worth the squeeze. If anybody figures out a better way to use a mobile hotspot let us know

And I figured out how to get it to work, at least on my Amazon Fire Phone!
I too was getting the dreaded GPS Not Found error in Pokemon Go. I even downloaded a GPS app from the Amazon App Store just to make sure that my GPS was indeed working, and maybe even to force Pokemon Go to see the GPS. Yes, the GPS was working, but it didn't force Pokemon Go to start seeing the GPS. I even did a factory reset on my Fire Phone and reinstalled G-Apps because of the other issues with the Google Play Store which came along with this error for those of us on the Amazon Fire Phone. I redownloaded Pokemon Go, and....... I still had the darned GPS Not Found error!
So I restarted my Fire Phone, hoping that might help, reran Pokemon Go, and I suddenly got the pop-up asking me to verify location services, even though I had just enabled them when resetting the phone! Now, when I first got the error after the full reset and reinstall of G-Apps and Pokemon Go, I had checked my location services and they were set to the highest and most precise level. When I got the pop-up and allowed location services, it set the location services on my Fire Phone to the lowest possible resolution, GPS Only. Guess what? Pokemon Go now works!
My best guess is that the latest Google Play Store update which broke the Play Store for those of us using Fire Phones, broke something in the highest accuracy settings of our Amazon Fire devices, and by switching to the lowest level of accuracy, GPS Only, Pokemon Go was able to find our onboard GPS (In your case the tethered GPS) and run correctly. I'll bet you dollars to donuts that the two Kindle Fire's you own which ARE working are now set at the lowest GPS accuracy setting, and the one which isn't is still set at the highest level of accuracy.
Anyways, I hope this helps!
Enable Google Location Services
source: pokemongokindlefire . com
Amazon Kindle settings > Location > Turn OFF
Google Maps > Press My Location icon
It will prompt you to enable Google Location Services. Hit "Yes".
Issue solved.
