[Q] Battery not charging over 30%!!!!???? - Motorola Droid RAZR

So after some ultra heavy usage yesturday I found myself for the first time witnessing less than 10% battery on my Maxx, so I plugged it to charge as normal, around 12 ish mid night... An hour in, 1 something am, I was tired and decided to go to sleep and, as I checked on the razr, it displayed 24% charge... I wondered why it was charging so slowly, but decided to leave it charging overnight and thought it might help... As I woke up at 7:30 am, I notice it has 30% battery charge and it said it was "Charging"... As I went to settings > battery, it showed a straight horizontal green line, as if the phone was in deepsleep... It recognized it was charging, but it didn't go past 30%!!!!!! I was scared the hell off, so I removed the SIM card and put it on my back up phone (I needed the phone at the moment) and let it charge for another hour turned off before I had to go... This time, however, it did charge...thankfully... It was at 57% so I took it to school and kept charging it... Right now, its at 83%, so I guess its charging as it should (though slow as f**k)... Any ideas as to why this happened and how I can prevent it in the future?? And also as to why its now charging so slowly?? I just got this phone 2 days ago and it charged perfectly those 2 days.... Thanks in advanced!

I've had this happen a couple of times. Install "Better Battery Stats" (here's the Play Store Link), which will help you see if there are any apps causing unexpected wakelocks. If you see any, uninstall or disable the app and see if your battery starts charging normally again.
Another d'oh thing to check is making sure your charger is working OK, and you don't have a case that's preventing you from completely plugging your phone in (I did that before, too...).

Thanks for ur reply, Im gonna download the app now! Also, I'm using an HTC wall charger (for my old Evo 4G) because the phone was sold to me without any accessories or anthing. I'll look up on buying an OEM Motorola charger too. You wouldnt happen to know where I can get one without it costing me a fortune (fortune = apple prices lol), would you?? Thanks again for ur help!
EDIT: Would it be wise to purchase this charger?

The seller says its OEM... Also, I checked other sites like Amazon and that's about what they're selling for ($5 - $12).

Battery issues part 2

So the original battery in my phone.. well... sucked. When I pulled the phone off the charger it would jump down to 93% no matter how long it was on the charger etc. Any attempt to bump charge was thwarted in the fact that I cant charge the phone when its off (it automatically turns on and boots into CWM). Wiping the battery stats when the battery read 100% in the OS would still result in the above.
So I ordered that 1600mah battery from Seidio. Ran the charge out of it yesterday and charged it to full during the evening/night. Wake up this morning, pull the charger out of the phone, and BOOM 100% power. Not 93%...
So was it my old battery that was bad or was there something wrong with how the phone saw its power rating?
From what I've seen with the phone, it drops down to 90% or so before it starts charging again, but it won't ever have the display show a battery decrease while plugged in.

Right but I can watch the meter go all the way to 100%... pull the plug and it goes down to 93% within seconds.
funny thing phone did the same thing...took it off the charger this morn and it dropped down to 95
I'm at 99% after about 2.5hrs of mostly idle usage. I've been just rebooting the phone with it on the charger in the morning, give it about 15-20 minutes and usually it'll stick at 100

All you are doing is semi-bumb charging it, which is fine if you really must have that extra 1hour of battery, but be warned, doing it constantly will damage your battery over time. that is the reason the phone has built in charging/decharge in the first place.
The reality is if your phone is sitting idle, that 5% wont matter at all once your phone attunes to your battery, and if your using the phone so heavily that your going dead long before the day is done (after attunement) then the 5% still wont matter !
i was having the same issues - 90% right after unplugging. had to charge the phone 3 times in ONE day and i never even touched the phone the whole day except to check the battery percentage.
brought it into verizon, they gave me a new battery and now it lasts me the entire day. when i pull the plug out now, it drops steadily like a normal battery should. i tried bump charging before i brought it in and it didn't help at all
The same thing has been happening to my dads Thunderbolt.
He charged it overnight, took it to work and was losing about 1% per minute without touching the phone. The only time it was touched was about 1 timer per hour to take down the battery percentage for his log.
He took it to the verizon store and they told him he should not expect anything longer than 4 hours of battery life without touching the phone..what kind of BS is that?

I'm having the exact opposite problem with the batteries--just ordered two of the 1600 Seidios that delivered yesterday and even after running pretty much down, fully charging overnite with the T-bolt powered down, drops to 95% immediately. Conversely, the OEM battery would stay at 100% for hours if the phone was idle (screen off / receiving any emails and SMS). Go figger.
There is a post in the Android Central forums on the 1600 battery compared to stock. After testing, they found that the two perform almost identically. Basically, it isn't worth replacing unless you go with the big HTC extended battery. Although having a spare isn't a bad idea. If only that battery door wasn't so tough to pry off when you need to change it...
nexus s had the same problem its nothing big though

Most of us probably won't have the phones long enough to see any possible damage. Starting off at a full 100% is a lot better than immediately dropping to 95 or so after pulling it off charger. It's kind of like the gas gauge in my truck. Stays full a while but once it moves off of full you can watch it drop. lol

[Q] loosing charge while charging?

hey guys not a noob but feel like one right now bc i have to ask this.
anyways i have a vibrant running nero 5 w/voodoo. my charger port is iffy at best. i ordered a new usb port off ebay and will be installing it once it arrives.
now the phone charges fine off, however i noticed that when im on it while plugged in charging its loosing percentage. i just finished charging it and turned the phone back on and kept it plugged in to top off the last 4 percent it had to go to 100. and when i check in settings it says 88% about 5 mins later it said 86%
any ideas?
i also did a search and didnt really find anything
I've had this issue since day 1. I've had my vibrant for almost a year now and it's never changed. It's happened on stock and all roms I've used. It seems to happen more when I'm using memory heavy apps or games. I used to play pocket legends and I once drained my battery (while plugged in) so much that I went from %100 down so low my phone died. The charger never lost connection either.
I've also had this happen while streaming tv shows to my phone & using tv out while charging.
Happens to me sometimes. I figured it was a badly calibrated battery. I calibrated my battery and it doesn't happen that much. Oh, and I've learned to not really use my phone when it's charging. Lol.
yea i bought a new battery yesterday. let it die then charged it. drained it and had probs. i wiped the stats and its off charging now sitting at about 92 percent. see how it goes

I've gone through it with the stock battery and my 3000mAz
Are you overclocked at all? Maybe set a charging profile with setcpu to lower clock and/or undervolt if you have a compatible kernel? Not sure, just throwing out ideas... Good luck, hope you get it figured out.
[SOLVED]
issue has been solved. thanks everyone
How did you solve it
it could be an app using the cpu at all times
turned the phone off and let it charge all night and that was about 3 days ago and its back to normal now. it was deff a bettery issue as i have 3 batterys and 2 extended ones and my other batteries would charge just fine. but all good to go now. thanks.

[Q] HTC Evo 3d - Battery charge indicator after drop.

My appologies if this question has been answered somewhere else, I could not find any other threads with a similar situation.
My phone was dropped and ever since then it has not shown me the right battery level. It will charge on USB or AC up to 99% and stop. I connected it to AC power 30 hours ago and it never gave me the green light. This is after a full drain and then recharge. It did however stop charging at some point. I noticed no light was on, red or green, turned on the phone and my battery had gone from 99% to 41% in 22 minutes. I plugged it into USB and it appears to be charging back up. My widget now shows 84% with 4334mV (i dont know if this is right or not).
It is not an issue with the battery. My wife has the same phone and I swapped batteries. Mine works fine in her phone and I have the same problem with hers.
My other issue is that when I use the phone off the charger it will not show me the level accurately when it is draining battery. Example being, I unplug the phone at 99%, within 5 minutes I'm down to 92% (i know this is not unusual because of how the batteries charge). But, I will stay at 92% for hours and hours, with moderate use of internet, phone, and apps. Then it will fall from 92 to 60 ish in a few minutes and do the same thing. Sometimes it will tell me that I'm getting low (under 15%) other times it just turns off a second or two after the notification. If I plug in the phone and turn it on it shows me 1% and charges up to 99%.
In the few minutes I have been typing my phone charged up to 91% with 4336mV.
I was running ViperRom ICS when the issue started. Restored it back to Stock with no root and the issue remained. Now I am running Mean Rom ICS with the same issues.
I have cleared the battery cache in recovery too.
Any help would be appreciated.
If you kiss it. your phone will love you and it'll be all better. NOW KISS IT AND TELL YOUR PHONE YOU'RE SORRY FOR DROPPING IT! LOL!
Based on my experience with batteries of all kinds, it sounds like one of the cells may be damaged. Best bet is to get a new battery. They are decently cheap for a good one. Im actually looking for an extended unit myself. If you come across one, please PM me.
Thanks
That was my first thought but when I swap my battery with my wife's battery I have the same problem. Both batteries work fine in her phone but not in mine.
Sorry to bring this up again, my bad. But seriously you are not the only one with this issue.. I had the same problem since stock, swap battery didn't help either.

Battery Issues whilst off?

Hi All,
Quick question to see if anyone else has noticed this at all?
Last night my watch was on 57% after a day of usage which I thought to myself, Great if i turn my watch off over night it will last me the next day aswell,
But upon turning my watch on this morning, my battery had dropped from 57% down to 23%,
Has anyone else noticed or had this happen?
Thanks!
Why don't you just let it charge over night? You will need the charger to turn it back on anyways, it's not like this would be practical or anything..
But no, I haven't tried turning it off over night. My watch also goes down to about 50% after 1 day and then I just let it charge together with my phone at night. I love the charger, just put in on there, no need for plugging anything in, way better than all the other methods from Sony and Samsung etc

The reason i dont want to leave it on charge overnight is that it could potentially damage the battery, they havent been out long enough to know the long term affect on the battery life, and as it is a waterproof construction i dont see it being cheap getting a replacement battery, i never leave any of my stuff on charge overnight as to not damage the batteries of them.

modern lithium-ion batteries cannot be overcharged. you're misinformed.. that only happend with old battery technology
the only way to damage the battery is by overheating and for that to happen you would need to charge it more than just a night, more like 24 hours at least. and even that doesn't happen anymore because smartphones stop charging when at 100% and so does the watch.
But when the battery gets to 100% the charger may stop charging but when the battery drops to 99% the charger will kick in again,
Previous phone batteries - S4 and S3 were ruined doing that

so? that still doesn't ruin the battery. it's normal that batteries wear off after some time, but we're speaking like after a year or so. nothing you can do about that. not charging doesn't do the battery any good either. it's best to always charge a little and not from <10% to 100%
So after a year you're happy to pay another £170 because the battery will only last less than a day, I'd rather take care of it and not kill it, like my z2 only charging when dead and not leaving it on charge overnight I get 3-4 days battery on it currently yes it's only been out for a while but I don't see anyone else getting that usage from it

Do as you think, but charging the phone or watch overnight will not ruin your battery, it just naturally wears off after time. And im sure that when there will be replacement batteries it will be nowhere near 170 quid.
Anyway I am more the kind of guy that charges the phone couple of times a day, so I usually never get below 20% battery. As for the watch, I am going to charge that once every day. Right now it holds up for more than a day so after some time it will be probably down to a day, but as long it doesn't go below 15 hours, yes im fine with that.
But that's the point I'm trying to get across, a battery is stated to last a specific time so why should they not last that time without proper care, not over charging etc..
But maybe that's just my opinion.

To answer your original question, mine doesn't lose any battery when switched off. I turned it off overnight with a full battery and when I switched it on this morning, it still had a full battery.
All I can think is that you accidentally hit 'reboot' instead of 'shutdown'. I'm sure you are positive you didn't, but it is the only logical explanation. Try again and make sure

Yeah well last night when i charged it, it was 100% when i turned it off, and this morning it was on 99% when it turned on, so i will check the % tonight before i turn it off, and check it in the morning when i wake up, as of 4pm i am on 67% so it should only drop another 10-15% before i turn it off later.
Sometimes the cradle didn't pick up the watch correctly. You can place it in the cradle but it won't charge. Make sure the lighting bolt icon is on the watch

Problems with promotional battery cradle?

Hello XDA I was just wondering if anyone else has any sort of anomalies in their promotional charging cradle for instance I was charging 1 battery in there and it was still red indicating still need of charge and my other battery in the device was around 75% so I wanted to switch them fast charging saving time. Once the battery in my phone it was at 100%. Also once it turned green before I was going to bed so I unplugged it and in the morning I switched them and the battery from the cradle once I put it in had 13%.
Anyone, anything to you?

Months behind but my charger started messing up. Battery in the dock was green, swapped at work last night and had 5%. I just now swapped the one I charged this morning after it was green and it's at 22%.

Having same exact issues with both of mine all of the sudden.
Having the same exact issue. The cradle was all good until a few months ago.
After putting an externally charged battery in the phone I often had the problem that it was only at 5% or something like that. After rebooting und once pulling the battery it was at 100%. So the battery is fully charged but the phone doesn't recognize it. My workaround: When changing batteries I pull the empty one, wait about ten seconds, put the full one in, pull it again after a few seconds and put it back in the phone after some seconds and boot the phone. Doing it this way leads me to a phone showing 100% battery.

Hmm, that's weird. I'm having this issue as well so I'll have to try this and see what happens. Thought for certain is was charging cradle though and not the phone misreading the battery simply because it worked fine for like 6 months.
