[Q] Newbie with sony and flashtool.. please help - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Good morning everybody
As in the title.... I'm newbie with Sony development... My friend has SE Xperia mini PRO as a secondary device
He wants to update it to ICS..... I checked the OTA updates and unfortunately it says "you have the latest version"... Is the GB the latest really???? Surely no
So I tried to search the XDA and found the Middle East update with flashtool
I'm afraid about the bootloader issue..... Do I have to unlock it when I use flashtool??
I read everywhere that I must unlock it if I want to flash custom ROMs and kernels..... But this ROM is stock ICS with a TFT file "flashtool flashable"
This is a link for the ROM's thread
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810037
So my question is... Do I have to unlock the bootloader before flashing this??
Notice: the device runs on factory functions ( Stock 2.3.4 GB.. not rooted or modified yet )
Please help

Nope no need to unlock bootloader to use flashtool.
Just connect it in flashmode (turn off, vol down + connect) and choose flashmode in flashtool
Regards
-N

no need to unlock bl buddy! just flash using flashtool. remember to install adb for your phone!

Nope

You only need to unlock your bootloader if you're gonna install a custom kernel. So, no need to do so. You can flash it to ICS via Flashtool with an FTF file.

[Q] ota update unsucssesful neo v

my device ia neo v (bootloader unlocked) and I rooted it recently using flashtools with downgrading to .42 .now I want to update it to .62 but I saw in some posts that I must do that with ota..but everytime it says couldn't update the software..so I want to install it with zip package with cwm menu..can anyone give me a zip package to install from my sd card?
First relock your bootloader, upgrade to .62 via Pc Company, then unlock bl again and flash RootXperia via CWM,and that's it,you'll have .62 rooted.

ohh...unlocking and relocking bl is really hard as the official sonymobile site tells..
It's not hard at all,it takes only 5 minutes.
Please use search function. This information is already published in this forum and there is no need of a new thread for same questions. Thanks.

no is your phone working????
did u unlock ur bootloader???
did u flash a custom kernel r rom?? with 2.3 r 4.0 build???
Now my phone's good and working well with the restore of Pc Companion (ROM 2.3.4 .62!)
I have unlocked bootloader and I can flash all the custom kernel and ROM but this isn't my problem beacuse I want official ICS 4.0.4 and in Italy the update isn't relased.

[Q][ST15i]Official ICS update with unlocked bootloader?

Hello, today (6/16) Sony Mobile has posted my SI-number on their Xperia Mini ICS thread, which means that the official ICS update is now available for my device using the PC Companion.
Problem is, I have unlocked my bootloader & I'm now running the stock Gingerbread with a prerooted kernel. I've read many topics where people get bricks by updating their unlocked SE phones via OTA or the PC Companion.
The solution seems to be extracting the update from the PC Companion, and then flashing it with Flashtool. But I'm a n00b and I don't know how to do this, can some1 help me . Just don't wanna brick my phone now, I need it xP.
Oh, and another question, if I update with the official rom, will I lose the unlocked bootloader?
You have two ways to do this. One is the simplest in the world: find a .ftf file for stock ICS rom and flash it through flashtool. And that's all.
If you want to upgrade through PC Companion, you'll have to:
1) Flash stock kernel
2) Relock your bootloader
3) Use PCC to upgrade

[XGO] Tutorial on reinstall official ics with sus

Hello to all of you,
This is a tutorial on how to REINSTALL on official ICS rom.
If you have problems with flashing other
kernels and roms and you don't
have make a full backup to restore as I did ....

and how to relock them
so you can make your phone new again
and restart flashing new roms .
Or if you must go to service and you
want your guarantee back ....
I'm not responsible for any damages.
At first you need to install flashtool
and manualy the drivers that you will find inside
the flashtool drivers folder.
http://androxyde.github.com/
Then you must download
st27i_6.0.B.3.184_Original.ftf
thanks to DJ_Mike_Jams
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933192
And
ST27i_XPERIA.cz_relock_bootloader.ftf
thanks to Jozinek
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1799005
And put these ftf files into
C:\Flashtool\firmwares
Now follow the steps :
1. Open flashtool
2. Connect your phone on flashboot mode
(pess volume+ and plug usb)
3. Wait until your phone connect with flashtool
4. Press flash button and select flashmode
5. choose the st27i_6.0.B.3.184_Original.ftf file
and start
6. You will see a message
7. You must unplug your phone and replug by
pressing volume- key
8. when flashing done reboot your phone
9. Then do again steps 1,2,3,4,and
10.Choose ST27i_XPERIA.cz_relock_bootloader.ftf file
and start flashing
11.Do again steps 6,7
12.When flashing done reboot your phone
13.Connect your phone to SUS (sony update service)
and take the update to
ICS Official firmware.
14. ENJOY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'M NOT A DEVELOPER
I HAD FLASHED boot image + CWM Touch recovery v5.5.0.4
AND stock ICS rom (recovery compatible zip)
BY munjeni . GREAT THANKS TO HIM TOO . RESPECT .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912865

Yes, online ypdate to official ICS
and your phone will become new again.
Everything from scratch .
what you should have mentioned in the op that at the moment there is no way to relock xperia go on ics so you have to downgrade first to gb so that you can relock yout bootloader( during the ics update the bootloader got changed so someone needs to make ics bootloader locker ftf) .

yes, as I know there is no ics boodloader locker until now .
and these are the steps that I followed .
So if anyone need to use the warranty I think this
is the way to relock the boodloader
and fix the phone new again .
I hope someone make an ics
bootloader locker , and skip all this procedure.
Thread moved to General section, post in the relevant section next time.

I'm not really sure , but I think that you can skip to step 9 .
If you read the thread where the ST27i_XPERIA.cz_relock_bootloader.ftf , is ,
you will see that you must NOT have custom kernel in your phone ,
so if you have untouch and stock rom ,
then this ftf file must work for you .........

Please read these instructions :

AND
You can read this :

I Think that Nabeel , which is a moderator in
that forum , explain all that you want to know .
And at last , you have the way to make your phone new again
if you need the warranty , in this thread .
