Hello.
I have samsung S2 model GP-I9100 my number compilation is IML 74K.UHLPO
version kernel: 3.0.15-I9100UHLPO-CL553479 [email protected] # 3 Android 4.0.3
PDA: I9100UHLPO
PHONE: I9100UHLPG
CSC: I9100PCWLP3 .

What kernel for root a need download? Please. thank you.

Any prerooted kernel works.

Read some...and your device will live longer.

Three questions...
1. Why do you want to root it? To upgrade to 4.0.4, u don't need root!
2. Why do you want 4.0.4? Haven't read about the brickbug issue?
3. Why not go for 4.1.2 then? Its the latest update.

I don't know. I think need root my SG2. But I mistake. My phone is factory unlocked.
2. Why do you want 4.0.4? Haven't read about the brickbug issue?
No. did not read about this issue, did not know about it. I'm new to this topic
3. Why not go for 4.1.2 then? Its the latest update.
because I read it consumes more battery , not if I'm wrong.
Finally you think I should do with my:
GT-I9100
4.0.3

Thanks for your advice and review

To install a stock firmware, u don't need to root. U simply need to download the firmware u need and flash it using odin.
Please read about 'eMMC Brickbug' issue on 4.0.4.
Check it with the 'Got Brickbug?' app on XDA.
To be safe on 4.0.4, u need to be on a custom safe kernel.
Battery life depends on a lot of things, most importantly on how u use ur phone, what apps u have etc. JB cannot be blamed for poor battery life.
As for what you can do, you can do anything u like - stay on 4.0.3, update to 4.0.4 or even upgrade to 4.1.2.

Thank you very much, but I've already solved my problem flashing an unbranded original firmware.
Now I've got only a problem : the updates via Kies are no more available. Why? The firmware is a stock firmware!

I've had the pleasure of owning a Samsung smartphone since October 2010. With that, please trust me when I say this: Kies is rubbish! The amount of stuff this program installs into your PC to do what's easily done by connecting via Mass Storage mode? Nuts! The amount of time it spends trawling the net and using up vital battery power while it runs in background on your phone? Insane! The best way to have a i9100 (or any other Android device) running is with a custom ROM - that way you can at least remove any app or 'bloatware' you don't want before you bring the phone to life.
My advice? In short: totally clean out and factory reset your phone, flash the stock i9100 SamMobiles JB release using Odin, root your phone, choose a custom ROM that you like the look of, flash it in and then discover the brilliance of the i9100 that lies beneath the stock standard offering...

Yes, install a Samsung-based custom ROM.
As for a reason why you have to keep your phone with Original software, is it a phone supplied by your employer? If so, then it's Yours to do as you please with, because use of the device is part of your salary package. Other than that, all which is altered by installing a custom ROM can be restored, simply by doing a nandroid backup of the original firmware before installing the new ROM...

[Q] Downgrade to ICS

so i've decided to downgrade back to ics as im getting kinda bored with jelly bean. can i safely flash stock ics firmware via mobil odin? as i cant use usb connection as my pc wont detect my device. also i saw in a thread something about a brick problem with 4.0.4. what is all that about and can i flash stock Australia XSA I9100XWLPW ics 4.0.4 from Mobile Odin safely or will i need to flash 4.0.3 and upgrade ota?
Fix your usb problem first. If you dont theres a chance you could be in trouble.
You can flash firmwares directly using Mobile Odin. And brickbug affects stock 4.0.4 firmware with stock kernels.
For more info, feel free to use search..

i have flashed other firmware via mobile odin, was just curious if there was anything i should know about downgrading. also i had a bit of a look but im not sure i understand what it means by brickbug affecting 4.0.4 roms and stock kernels. does that mean it wont work at all with stock 4.0.4 kernel? and do i need to do something extra to use 4.0.4?

Mate, you really need to read a lot more.
Downgrading/upgrading is no different when ur flashing a firmware via Odin/Mobile Odin. And like theunderling said, a working computer connection might save u one day...
As for Brickbug, there are many threads here that will help u out..

ok so after some reading what i understand is that the brickbug only comes about if i wipe with CWM on stock 4.0.4 with stock kernel?
therefore if i have a custom kernel like siyah or use stock recovery to wipe everything should be fine?

Good work!
Brickbug occurs when u wipe with CWM while on a stock kernel on 4.0.4. If u flash a custom 'safe' kernel, no more risk of bricking even if u wipe.

[Q] Downgrade Samsung Galaxy S2 from Jelly Bean 4.1.2 to ICS 4.0.4

Hi, I recently updated my Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 from Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.4) to Jelly Bean (4.1.2). I have been using the new OS version for a while now and don't like some of the changes that Samsung have implemented. So I was wondering if there is a way of downgrading the OS back to ICS 4.0.4 (the latest official release). Is there a way to select a custom version in Kies and simply update that way? Or am I stuck with Jelly Bean and will just have to adjust to the changes

[Q] [SOLVED] Galaxy stuck on logo screen

- SOLVED - (Thanks to immortalneo )
Hello, noob here D:
Here's the story.. I recently got a Galaxy S2 i9100. It's updated to the 4.1.2 thingy.
Tried to root it, used odin and CF-ROOT v5.5 in the process. Odin said it was OK but I got stuck on the yellow triangle.
Found a guide, guide said to install Stock Rom.. so I did. (Stock rom is I9100XWLPU_I9100XXLQ6_I9100XEZLP3_HOME.tar )
Now there's no yellow triangle but it's stuck on the flashy S screen.
I never had a smartphone, and I don't understand most of the words people use here (mainly that 'flash it' thing xD )
I tried to look for a post or anything to solve this but kinda failed..
Help?
What you have is called a 'bootloop' mate.. it can be sorted out.
Which android version do u have now? Its 4.0.4 right? 4.0.4 is subject to risk of eMMC Brickbug.
So, I suggest you download another stock firmware (other than 4.0.4) and flash it via Odin.

How to know which 4.1.2 update to use for phone from another country?

Hey Guys,
I've been searching internet for many hours now and I just can't find answer for my question.
Someone brought this phone over from UK, unlocked it, so it's carrier free and I bought this phone.
It has version 4.0.4
I heard that this phone can be updated to 4.1.2, which I've been wanting to do for quite some time now.
I understand that there are country specific updates, but I don't understand which one should I use?
I tried using Kies, but Kies is saying that I already have latest firmware version (although it's 4.0.4)
I would really want to update to 4.1.2, but I don't know which version to use in my case.
Do I need rooted phone to update it?
You dont need root to update to a stock firmware.
You can choose any country's firmware, it wont make a difference. Just make sure its an unbranded firmware.
If your phone does get locked after updating, simply unlock it after rooting.

Since ur on 4.0.4, first I suggest you read about 'eMMC Brickbug' issue on 4.0.4.
Check it with the 'Got Brickbug?' app on XDA.
XDA is full of guides on how to flash a stock firmware. First try searching for it.
If u still cant find any guides:
1. Download a stock firmware from sammobile.com.
2. Download Odin.
3. Extract the firmware into a folder.
4. Put phone into Download mode and connect to PC.
5. Flash using Odin.
