First of all I apologize in advance if you guys get asked this frequently, it's just that I don't want to brick my phone and i'm new to the Android scene(just sold my iPhone 4S for the One)!
So i've already read through this tutorial — http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182792&highlight=mac — on how to root and unlock your bootloader except for the fact that I don't have a windows computer, I have a MacBook Pro. On the HTC Dev site I followed instructions but it seems it's explaining it more for the Windows than Mac as well. Is there a Mac tutorial out? If not any help would be appreciated!

Hi All,
I recently bought an Atrix. I would like to root the phone and then flash a custom ROM onto the phone. However, I have a Linux OS on my laptop (running Ubuntu 10.10) and all the guides I've seen use Windows programs.
Has anybody successfully rooted an Atrix using Linux, or has anybody come across a guide that explains it using Linux?
Any help appreciated.
If you looked at the sticky at General forum you would see that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255548

Inside you would see this:
If you need to perform this method using MacOS or Linux, please see this adaption of my script.

And about flashing roms, you need to unlcok your bootloader first, and you can do it with Linux system, read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
Good luck and have fun
Cheers. I'll check out the links later.
The links talk about gingerbread - my Atrix (UK) still runs on 2.2. Will the aforementioned method still work on my Atrix?
Hey all -- just a quick web page to give you guys a head start when it comes to rooting your DROID BIONIC. This method works on Motorola phones running Android OS 2.3.4 or earlier.

there are a few videos on youtube with step by step instructions. i cant post links from outside sites bc my account is too new, but do a youtube search like "root htc one"
look for videos submitted by qbking77 and thesmokingandroid.
thesmokingandroid uses an all in one toolkit which sounds easier, but if something doesnt load or flash right it can be harder to fix
The easy way is to download One X One Click. Google it or search the forum. Put all the files you need e.g. unlock token, recovery and kernel in the appropriate folders. Put the custom rom on the sd of your device. Select the right options in the program and let it do it's work. Else what was suggested earlier. Search the forums for tips and info.

Jailbreaking is easy now with evasi0n. I jailbroke iOS 4 when you still have to go into DFU mode and risk bricking or having to do a restore. I used Greenpois0n.

No need to pay mate - you are on XDA
Unfortunately, my watch still hasn't arrived so I can't help you...
I'm sure @Lokifish Marz will help you and someone who has Mac could help more
Programs you need to use are same or similar and there shouldn't be any problems...
If no one helps you, wait and I'll help you as soon as I get my watch...
If there's no rooting tool for Mac, find PC (friend, work, school...) and just follow tutorial...
As soon as you root - you basically don't need computer anymore...

EnSec Enhanced Security + Operative w TWRP 20140318. This works using Java and is WIN/LIN/MAC compatible.
But, Lokifish, doesn't any attempt to install to the TrueSmart first require the installation of ADB and proper drivers ? Are those available for MacOS ?

There is are a number of ADB for mac guides floating around xda. Seeing that Mac is really a pretty unix system it's a bit more involved than windows.
I know that the installer will work on Ubuntu with the proper setup so there is no why it won't work on a Mac.

You need Minimal ADB and Fastboot program. And you need unlocked bootloader on your phone. All other explanation is on the link you posted. Do a little research, and you will also learn a lot of things. You can't always ask for step by step explanation. I was also new to this, and I learned a lot by reading and doing a research on everything I need. So you can also do the same. This one is really easy. Just don't be lazy to use Google or to do a research.
